8/22/05 - Shelby is doing wonderfully here. Check out her close up fur picture -- you can almost reach out and
touch her golden flecked luxurious coat!!  Her coat is really soft, and she loves being brushed and even
vacuumed.  She is a lot calmer now and fits right into the pack.  She loves a good game of fetch or frisbee, and
loves water.  It's so cute how she sleeps, she curls up in a little ball, nose to tail.  Whereas, my boxer buddies
become couches or ottomans, depending where they decide to sprawl out. Also, Shelby does NOT snore (unlike
my grand champion boxers). So if you want a good night's sleep, this is the dog for you. No territorial issues,
crate problems, fights with the human or furry siblings -- don't you wish a holiday at the in-laws would be that
peaceful?
There is just one thing she is missing -- YOU! Get those applications in!!

7-31-05 -  Shelby's doing fine here.  She's got a lot of German Shepherd in her, namely she loves to 'find' hidden
toys, run, and fetch balls. She actually brings balls back to me too, something my boxer boyz have yet  to master.
Shelby is also picking up my boxers' calm loafing-around-the-houseness. She actually sits down and rests once
and a while now. She loves water. I took her to the beach a couple of times and she loved running through the
waves and trying to 'catch' them. I think she'd make a great companion for a jogger.  She's had no accidents, no
attempts to break out or otherwise attack the crate, no garbage diving either. She did try to sneak some cookies
and a certain unnamed boy's cereal bowl full of milk off the counter, but knows "off," and I just have to be a little
more vigilant about leaving things out.  We are still working on the 'no jumping' or hug thing, which she only does
when you first come in the house because she's so excited to see you. Get those applications in, she is a real
sweetie and will be a great friend and running partner for you, promise!

7/8/05 - 'If she doesn't look like a boxer, but she acts like a boxer, then she's a boxer!'   Shelby arrived at her new
foster home yesterday. Apollo was very ungentlemanly towards her at first, and he usually doesn't get rough with
the ladies. So I separated the 2 and had second thoughts about taking in the Shelbster. But then, Shelby made a
total sap out of Apollo. She discovered a 'new' old ball that Apollo/Tyson/Trixie hid away somewhere, and today,
everybody is happily playing boxer hockey. Shelby has quite a talent for unearthing lost toys and bones. She is
very affectionate and responds well to her name and to 'sit.' She pulls a bit on lead but nothing too out of control.
She is very small, about the size, look, and coloring of a Belgian Malinois. Even though she doesn't look like a
boxer, she loves to kiss, cuddle, and 'box' like one. She doesn't bark a whole lot and only whimpers in her crate
when she hears me coming to let her out, as if to say, 'hurry up, I want in on the action.' Tyson and Trixie are very
friendly with her. So I think Shelby would do fine with a submissive dog of either sex, or one that is not right close
to her age. She loves my son and his friends that came over. If she tries to stand up and 'hug' my son, all my son
has to do is say 'off' and Shelby listens. Get those applications in, let this girl steal your heart and all your hidden
dog toys too!

06/30/05 - What a sweet girl Shelby is. She is sooo good in her crate at night and when I leave the house. So far,
she has not gotten herself into any trouble in the house (accidents, food stealing, chewing, etc.). She is a toy
thief though, which Bruno does not like at all and will let her know. Just like kids, she will steal Bruno's toy right
out from under him, while he's playing with it. She just wants to play too, but Bruno is a little older and has no
patience for that game. She still has a lot of puppy in her. Another 'Boxer' trait that I have found is that she loves to
run big circles in the yard. The two of them will run together round and round in the backyard. She's very fast!
Anyone looking for a fun, smart, and gentle companion - look no more - here she is! She seems to get along
with anyone so would make a great addition to any home.

6/24/05 - Shelby has been here a few days now and is settling in. She had a good visit with our vet and is all up
to date on her shots. Shelby is a very smart dog, but will need some obedience training. So far, she can 'sit'
when asked, but has trouble responding to her name when called (maybe she's still too distracted in her new
surroundings here). Her forever home will need lots of doors for her to play with. She loves opening and closing
them. Unfortunately, she also likes to sneak through them too, so a securely fenced yard for her to run in will be
needed. Shelby is wonderful at night and goes right in her crate. So far, no accidents in the house. Shelby is a
wonderful young energetic cutie and would be a great addition to any home. She is great with kids too and loves
to give kisses (that's the Boxer in her!), so what more could you want? What are you waiting for - get your
application in quick!

06/21/05 - Shelby finally arrived today. She seems very sweet and is full of energy. She is a Boxer and German
Shephard mix. Her face is cute and her tail wags and wags. We are off to the vet tomorrow morning for her to get
shots updated and a check-up. After she settles in a little I'll update again. Get your applications ready - she'll be
ready to go soon!
