UPDATE 12/5/05 - Sasha is a very happy girl - she wakes us up with big wiggles every day (starting at 5:30 most
mornings - weekends included - although she can be persuaded to go back to sleep for a little while.) She is
doing well in obedience class. We practice daily and she just loves to please us by running through the
commands. She hates to go in the 'down' position, though, as did our previous boxer - is this a boxer thing? At
any rate, we are halfway through the course and Sasha loves to see the other dogs there. I take her for a walk
every morning before I leave for work, and she very tuned in to my morning routine - she knows just when I am
about to tell her that it is time for her walk. She stands so nicely for me to put her coat on. (Winter is here!!) She
loves running in the back yard in the snow, and feels it is her personal duty to make sure the yard is free of
squirrels! She met lots of family and friends on Thanksgiving and is wonderful with everyone - no jumping up at
all. I have been able to take her to work with me several times - I am a speech pathologist in an elementary
school, and my students just love to have her visit for the day. Sasha's adjustment has been a very smooth one -
she has had no accidents at all and no destructive moments. She is a love!
UPDATE 10/31/05 - Sasha has been with us for a month now, and it seems like we have always had her. On the
ride home from picking her up, she started out in the back seat but quickly ended up on my lap (Good thing I wasn't
driving!) Sasha is an absolute sweetheart. She knows some commands and is perfectly behaved in the house
when we are out - no crate for her! She was obviously loved and well cared for in her first home - it is our good
fortune that she needed a new home. Our 2 adult sons and friends have been over quite a bit to see her - and she
doesn't stop wiggling. We don't think she went on many walks - she was a terrible puller - but we bought her a
'gentle leader' collar and what a difference it made. She loves exploring the neighborhood now, and gets so
excited when I tell her we are going for a walk. She also LOVES stuffed animals and plays fetch with them - always
returning to us and dropping the toy for another round. She HATES balls of any kind - totally ignores them. Sasha
loves snuggling on the couch and giving kisses. We start 'family companion' obedience classes November 1st
and I look forward to seeing her around other dogs. Thank you to SCBR for bringing Sasha to us!
9/30/05 - Sasha has been adopted!
9/13/05 - Sasha is a doll. You could not ask for a sweeter dog. The reason she was surrendered is that her owner
worked long hours and also went out of town frequently, so she felt she couldn't give Sasha the attention she
deserves. Well, Sasha settled in here the quickest out of any foster I've had so far. This girl is tiny and she's full of
wiggles and cuddles. Her weight clocks in at under 50 lbs but her butt clocks in at 500mph. I've never seen a
wigglier butt! She is such a happy dog. She gets along with my dogs, especially Tyson, who sniffs her
butt whenever she stops wiggling it. In fact, it was hard to get pictures of Sasha by herself because the other dogs
like to be near her all the time. My son gets along great with her too. Whenever he sits down Sasha comes up and
puts her head in his lap. She knows all the basic commands, including "kennel up" (what she knows for going
into the crate). I don't think she needs crating but it's a good bonus. Get those apps in for a lotta lovin' from a little
wigglegirl!
