UPDATE 9/6/05 - Hi all, Sadie is doing just fine. We started to have major problems with her
attacking her sister Diamond about a couple of months ago. She would just attack Diamond out of
the blue. It was terrible. Then I went on vacation and we figured out the problem...ME! Yep she is
obviously fighting over me because they did not fight the whole time I was gone.
So for the most part they are now separated when I am home alone with them because when I got
back from Vacation they started (well Sadie started and Diamond defended herself) fighting and I
got bit in the whole mess. I had to go the the ER and everything...but no stitches but quite a nasty
gash.
However all in all Sadie is a love. We have tried to get her to play with numerous toys and nothing
really caught her attention until she discovered my oven mitt this week and thinks it is the best toy
ever.
I have not updated in so long because I went to Sweden for My Sisters wedding and we were
having the problems with the two dogs that I just did not have the time.
Anyway all has worked itself out.
UPDATE 5/29/05 - Hi all, I can't believe another month has passed since I have to update our
beautiful girl. Sadie broke a nail toaday. They are not long but she broke it by the base. Poor
thing. She climbed into my lap for some sympathy, although she won't let me touch it. Sadie's
newest this is that she climbs into our bay window when we go anywhere without her and pushes
apart the curtains and looks at us...she makes us feel really bad about leaving her home. We try
not to leave her alone too often and when we have to at least she has her sister for comfort,
however she is usually still in the windowsill when we arrive home. Sadie is such a love. She can
be a little grumpy at times...like when you want her to move off the couch, but the most she does
is make noise. She tries to be a tough cookie but she is my little mush. It's funny, she is sooooo
MY Little girl, she follows me everywhere, even to the bathroom. Her sister is more of Jon's little
girl. Sadie is still not fond of baths, although she thought the pool was a giant water bowl when we
got it opened. Well, again I e-mailed a trainer today and will hopefully hear back from her after the
memorial weekend. I don't need too much help with Sadie but Diamond needs a trainer. She does
not realize she is like 60-65lbs and likes to jump on people so I have to break that. Anyway, I
hope everyone has a beautiful memorial weekend!
UPDATE 4/27/05 - Hi all...Sadie is doing soooo wonderful here. We love her sooooo much.
Sadie is our little cuddlebug and loves sleeping between my legs...not very comfortable for me,
however she loves it. Her and her sister Diamond get along really well. Sadie has learned to play
ball with us and she and Diamond love chasing each other around the yard. Sadie enjoys taking
me for walks, although I am trying to teach her how to let me walk her. Sadie cracks me up when
she eats. We mix in some soft food with her hard food and she takes the hard food and licks off
the soft food and then spits out the hard food. My kitchen floor is usually quite a mess when she is
done. People love Sadie and she is really sweet to everyone. I have found her to be great with
children. Her favorite place is someone's warm lap. Sadie is not too fond of bath time. I usually
have to pick her up and put her in where as her sister Diamond will try to find anyway to get dirty
so that she can have a bath. Well that's all for now.
UPDATE 3/26/05 - Hi all! I have to say we absolutly Love Miss Sadie Sue, as she is
affectionatly called. She is adapting to her new home so well. She has a
sister named Diamond who is 7 months old and full of boundless energy.
Diamond has brought Sadie to life. They love to play together. Sadie was
not very good with toys when she came here, whereas Diamond is
like...The more noisy the toy the better. So you could imagine how proud
I was the Last week when Sadie started playing with the ball. Sadie was
nervous when she first came of us letting her out in the back, to go
potty, especially if we closed the door behind her, untill her sister
showed her that they can open the back door...to come in. Since they she
knows she can always get inside and I think that is comforting for her.
Sadie loves to go in the car...she is sulking at the moment because he
Dad took her sister up to the store with him and not her. (She got to
come in the car this morning) Sadie is such a cuddlebug. She will climb
up on my lap and lay there, we actually...any warm lap will do for
her...she is not prejudice! We were warned that she sometimes pees
(submissive)...well, thank God for wood floors..easy to wipe up. Sadie
like to pee on all the men, my fiance, his Dad, my dad...the only one
she hasn't done it to is my fiance's little brother...he's 11 yrs old.
All the women that come into the home are fully accepted..she will climb
right up on their laps...no peeing, but if it's a man grab the paper
towels! It is starting to slow down though and I'm sure when she is
realizes this is her home forever it will stop. I got in touch with one
training place and although I recieved an E-mail back, when I wanted
more info and called I got no response. I know I have to get a move on
with that! Well I have to go get the girls to bed (yep...they both sleep
in our bed with us). The Easter Bunny won't come if they are still
awake!!!! Have a very happy Easter everyone, you, your family's, and all
of the sweet boxers!!!!!!!
UPDATE 3/12/05 - Hi everyone, We adopted Sadie 2 weeks ago. She is doing very well here
in her "forever home". We love her very much already. She and her
sister Diamond are happy together (Diamond is a white American
Bulldog.....we think!)
Diamond is 6 months old and is bring out the puppy in Sadie. The girls
just ate their denta-bones..gotta keep those teeth healthy!
I just thought I would stop in and say hi and thank you to everyone
who put up with my persistance that I have this beautiful girl.
2/26/05 - Sadie has been adopted!
2/20/05 - Her majesty is trying to keep all her subjects in line here at her foster home...This girl is
a princess, born and bred. In fact her name means princess.... She has her paws full trying to boss
the other dogs around....The only one she is successful with is our Great Dane "Mickey"...he
pretends that she is the boss lady and hightails it away from her (secretly, he is laughing at her
small size) The word "spitfire" comes to mind with little Sadie Sue....If the others are playing too
roughly for our little lady, she just splits them up with a few choice words...they scatter for a few
minutes and then resume the game....Sadie is a tiny little thing, however, she makes her needs
known...she's a little cuddlebug, couch potato and nothing suits her better than an evening in front
of the TV, snuggling up with her humans ...popcorn anyone? She is sweet, smart and compact
size....Her only drawback is some incidents of submissive peeing,...it's possible that she has seen
some abuse at some point in her life...if you try to make her do something that she doesn't want to
do, she will squat and cower....we have mostly solved this by being calm and not raising our
voices when asking her to "go out", "come in" or get "off" the couch ( and thats the most important
one!!!)...If asked politely to move she will do it in her own time....like the royal princess that she is
born to be!!!!!
1/13/05 - Okay, what is everyone waiting for ? Why is this lovely little girl still here? Sadie is
adorable, loving, petite, dainty, sweet, beautiful and would fit in just about anywhere! I guess she's
not too keen on cats, and although she adores my little boy...she would likely do better with older
kids as she is slightly dominant. She has been great with all our other dogs. She just loves people.
She loves to go for rides in the car (in fact she would really like to drive the car) She is a real
snuggler and will curl right up in anyone's lap if invited. This girl is a sure bet! Get those
applications in for this little one!!!!
1/01/05- Sadie is a little princess... but, she is wonderful in everyway! A petite little beauty that
would like to be boss..however, is quickly finding out that she is very low on the totem pole
here...it may give her some humility and teach her to lowere her expectations!!! In other words
Sadie is SPOILED ROTTEN. She was returned by her adopters for being a grumpy girl...so far
we have seen no signs of grumpiness, It seems that Sadie does not like to be woken up from a
sound sleep and would growl ...that is a sign of a dominatrix!!! She is spoiled and needs to learn
her place in the family heirarchy...
She loves to romp with the other dogs...but would really rather be adored by her humans...So far
she has been excellent with my 4 year old son. Her previous owners did mention that she seemed
to be quite dominant over their small children, so perhaps a home with children over 8 would be
better for her....A home with other dogs would work fine or she would do well as an only dog if
her family is firm and does'nt let her be boss......
Sadie has tested negative for lyme disease and ready for her new home...she has been nothing but
good here!!!
12/22/04- Sadie(Sandi) has been returned to rescue ....she will be going to the vets as soon as we
can get her in...This busy Holiday Season is kinda putting a crimp in our schedules....Sadie will be
tested for Lyme Disease, she showed positive right after her adoption 14 months ago and was put
on meds for a while....We need to see if she is still showing positive... as she was showing some
irritability at her home. She may have some aching joints. We will update on this little cutie pie
soon....Pics coming up!!!
