UPDATE 3/11/05 - Sable is doing great. She is recovering from her leg surgery just
fine. She does not like the crate at all. But, she is comfortable on her bed.
Sable enjoys hanging out with all the kids(real kids-we have 6). He biggest choice is
which lap to try to sit on.
She enjoys her treats of peanut butter and cheese.
Her buddy Max(our german sheppard)get along great. They love to play together.
We had to take Sable out of obedience traing until her leg heals, another 2 months or
so and she will start again.
UPDATE 2/16/05 - Sable is great. She actually is going in for surgery tomorrow. She
tore the ligament in the other leg. So now she will have to do the 3 month recovery
again.Poor girl.
11/25/04 Oops, I didnt realize I missed updating Sable for so long!
Sable did have her surgery and is doing great. She had her follow this past Monday and
the orthopedist says she is right where she should be, just starting to put weight on that
leg.
Yesterday she had to have a minor surgery on her ear as she had a hemtoma on her ear
flp that had to be drained and repaired. The hemotoma was caused from shaking her
hear and flapping her ears because she had an itchy yeast infection in one. Some dogs
seem to be prone to them, but now that we know it isnt allergies as her former owners
were told, it can be easily controlled with an ear rinse and drops when needed. Poor
girl! Nothing like adding insult to injury after that major leg surgery!
Sable continies to be just the sweetest girl. She is every inch a female boxer! She is so
funny sometimes. She wants her attention from Daddy, wants to go for a ride on the
weekends, wants her pats and rubs and has no problem horning right in and telling you
so, LOL! My husband just loves her, she is cute as a button. She gets along fine with
everyone.
While we were not crating her during the day before her surgery, we had to afterwards,
during the day when we are not home anyway. She doesn't appreciate it, especially if
anyone is home!
Sable will need the stitches in her ear removed in a week or so and will have to
continue on her very low activity until mid February for ligament repair, but she is
basically ready to be adopted. We will miss her!
10/26/04 Sable had her visit with the orthopedist last week, and I met with him
yesterday. Sable does have a torn cruciate ligament in her knee, and will be going in for
a repair on 11/4. While it heals, her activity will be limited to leash walking for a month
or so. More to come soon!
10/12/04 A quick update on Sable (we call her Mabel...with that underbite she is just
more a Mabel then a Sable :). She is the nicest dog, we just love her. She has settled
right into our household routine and is doing fabulous. She prances on her front
legs, wiggles and does a big kidney bean dance when she is getting attention. If you sit
on the floor she will back up and sit in your lap! She loves to ride in the car, and has no
probelms doing a woo-woo to let you know she wants a snack! It's so cute.
Overall, Mable is just a happy boxer girl who will really appreciate a home of her own
where she can get lots of attention. She likes the other dogs and would do best where
she can be top female.
We will update again when we know more about her sore knee. Although she is still
playing and running some, it obviously hurts, especially at night, so we are gussing she
may have strained or torn something in there. We will find out soon.
Hi from The Last Resort! Miss Sable has arrived and she is doing just great. Sable is a
very sweet and smart boxer girl who is getting along fine with all the resident boxers,
both male and female. Sable likes to play and is very interested in all the household
goings-on.
Sable has a sore back leg, so we have an appointment at the orthopedist's on 10/19 to
get that checked out. More updates to come as this special girl settles in!

Getting checked out by the natives.
