UPDATE 12/22/06 - My family and I adopted Rhea over a year ago. It has been a busy year for us and I apologize
for not updating her sooner. Rhea(re-re) is a wonderful dog. She has come along way. She was very shy with
men when she first arrived. She even bit my husband when he was playing with the kids and when he got close to
me. She would run in the corner and shake if new people can into our home. She had to be house trained. She
was a lot of work in the beginning, but worht it all. Now she is a great addition to our family. She loves my
husband. She has a brother who is a Mastiff and they are like two little kids. Always playing or getting into
mischief. She also has a foster brother too. She is my own personal heater and my shadow. She runs to greet
people at the door wagging her tail and waiting for the to give her loves. She is in great health and has gained
weight and looks healthy. No ribs showing at all. She likes her cookies. I want to thank the foster family for having
her in their home were she got the first tlc that she needed to change her life around. I often wonder why someone
would harm a sweet innocent dog. Thanks to scbr for matching us.
10/1/05 - Rhea has been adopted!
8-17-05 - Rhea has been at the Lodge for a week now. She is doing wonderful. She has become on happy little
girl. When Leah would see people, other than the boys, she would cower. Now when she sees you, she runs up
to you and wants to give you kisses, she is so happy to see you. She has gotten much better with her potty issues,
we still have accidents, but she is getting the idea. I have now let her have the run of the house with the residents.
Katie my queen resident, has had no problems with her, I think she actully likes her. Katie usally doesn't like
females, especially one in heat. Her and Rhea play most of the time. I have now been able to let Rhea out in the
yard free, of course I stay out there with her, when I see her start to leave my property I call her and she comes right
back. When Rocky and Katie are playing in the yard, Rhea runs over to them and bounces around them, saying,
hey I want to play too. She is eating well and putting on a few pounds. My husband said to me that he can't beleive
what a sweet girl she is. She just has that sweet and calm personality. I do think, give her a few more weeks, and
she will become the bouncing happy boxer. She does know sit, come, and leave it. We have been working mostly
on the potty issues. She is still not ready for adoption. Keep an eye on this page, I will post as soon as I can take
her to the vet.
8-11-05 - Rhea arrived at the Lodge Sunday night. Thanks to Liz and Ronnie. Liz rescued her from a shelter. She
was not treated well and animal control took her from her previous owner. She is 37b lbs, very thin and has a very
sad face. We are sure that once she spends some time at the Lodge she will become a very happy boxer. She
has gone into Heat and can not be spayed for at least month. She is very sweet and loving. She is scared of a lot
of things. She just loves my boys, when they leave the room she barks for them. I have kept Rhea downstairs, due
to her being in Heat and Katie being her usual Queen I want to give them some time before I let them all free
together. I have had Rhea in the crate and Katie and Rocky have meet her through the crate. There wasn't any
barking or growling, so I think things will go well. She has been pooping and peeing in the house, but we are
working on that. Rhea was left outside by her previous owners. Once they spend all of their time outside, they
think the world is their toilet, so we are retraining her. She is putting on pounds and her coat is getting very
smooth. The other day the boys went to get a pool stick from the rack on the wall, and Rhea ran away and hid. I
wonder if she was hit with sticks? I believe that once she is spayed and ready for adoption, she will be trusting of
people. You can't help but love her, she has the sweetest face. The boys were giving her a peanut butter
sandwich the other day and she gave them a grin. They thought that was cool. So get your apps in so you can get
approved by the time she is ready for adoption.
