UPDATE 10/19/05 - Mitch (we call him Mickey because he responds better!) is a wonderful addition to our home.
He gets along well with our Border Collie Jackson, whom he is teaching to play tug-of-war (his favorite game).  I
think he used to be a bit of a city-boy and didn't like to get his paws wet or muddy, preferring pavement to lawn or
woods, but he is adjusting to the country nicely and I think is even starting to like the great outdoors!  We go for lots
of walks on the nearby rail-trail where he can meet all the other walkers, joggers and bikers.  He is a perfect
gentleman in all encounters except for the occasional jump, but it's just exuberance not aggressiveness.
He seems very healthy, and the vet gave him a clean bill of health too.  He has a penchant for trouble (opening
windows and jumping through screens, for example), but it all seems to be separation anxiety-related and not
destructive behavior for the fun of it.  He just doesn't like to be separated from his humans, but I know he is starting
to feel more secure and comfortable with us, and the bad behavior seems to be fading.  We start basic obedience
next week, but he has most of the basics down already.  This should reinforce all of that.  He has some
housetraining issues, but again, he never has a problem if we are home so I think this is curable as he relaxes
and knows we'll be home shortly.
Personality-wise he is truly one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met, very cuddly and generous with hugs.  He
makes for one large lapdog!  Most people are afraid of him when they see him (I've been told he has a face only a
mother could love ... and I do!) but they immediately realize he is friendly and fun-loving.  Even the little kids in the
neighborhood have warmed up to him, but again we have to work on the jumping so no one gets hurt.  He just
doesn't realize how strong he is.
That's all for now, more to follow!

9/10/05 - Mitch has been adopted!

9/2/05 - I really wish I was a better writer so I could convey what a great dog Mitch is.  He has settled in here really
nicely.  Mitch's personality is really starting to show its self.  He now will give a little bark when he thinks he hears
something and will bark if someone rings the bell.  He runs to get to the door, but is great when guest come in.  He
does not jump on them just gives them a little smell and a wiggle.  I know his pictures sorta makes him look a little
grumpy but I tell you -- you will fall in love with him as soon as you meet him and he puts his head on your lap.
Everyone that has met Mitch will telling you how wonderful he is.  So easy going, so sweet, so willing to play when
you want to play and so willing to lay by your side when you have other things to do and cannot give him your full
attention.  Mitch need you. He needs to settle in with you and your family.  He so wants to have a forever home.
Please call me if you have any questions about this boy.  You will being making the best choice of your life.

8/28/05 I was the “auntâ€ that picked up Mitch from his long journey to Connecticut.  Even after hours of riding
in the car, he jumped out of the car and greeted me with a kiss.  Mitch is one of the best behaved dogs I have ever
seen.  I currently have four dogs and Mitch makes them all look like they need to be retrained.  Mitch would make a
great dog for anyone.  He just wants to please his owner and will do whatever you want.  He will play with you
tirelessly until your arm is ready to fall off or he will just lie by your side.  He loves to go for walks and riding in the
car is his favorite.  Be careful, or he may go everywhere with you.  When he gets tired and you are staying up too
late, he goes to bed without you.  But, all you have to do is call him and he will be right next to you.  He is not a big
eater and therefore, not a beggar.  He would rather play than eat.  He isn’t a bolter when the door opens.  He
greets everyone who arrives and gives kisses.  If you are looking for a companion, not a watchdog, Mitch could be
the apple of your eye.

8/20/05 - Mitch had a very good week.  Everyone in the complex just loves him and now do not walk away from him,
but try and get him to go over and let them pet him.  They love that he does not jump and when we are stopped to
talk he just lays down and waits until we can get going again.  Mitch came to me without many listening skills, but
is so willing to learn.  He now knows to sit and wait on command.  About the only time Mitch jumps on you is when
you start to play catch with him or when you just let him out of his crate and he is full of vigor.  When you have his
toy in your hand to throw he will jump on you, but this week we have been working on that and now once you have
the toy he knows to sit or you will not throw it to him.  He is so smart.  Did I tell you he has a beautiful soft fur coat?
I will say it again, this baby will make a great addition to your family.  Please consider taking Mitch home.  You will
not regret it.

8/14/05 - Today marks a week since Mitch arrived and he has been a joy...I did crate him during the week while I
work and that worked out fine.  He is not crazy about it.  He does bark for a few minutes and then settles down.  I
thought I would work on seeing how he does left alone in the house.  Started on Friday by going to the pool for
about 20 minutes.  Then again on Saturday I went to the grocery store for about 40 minutes and that worked out
just fine.  I don't think I will go any further as I do not want him to get use to not being crated in case the forever
family will want to crate him and then they would have to retrain.  So I think it is better to leave well enough alone.
This boy also has great bathroom habits.  As soon as you feed him, he will need to go out and do his business.
So if you work (like I do) he will be already to be put in his crate without any worries.  If you are looking for a younger
dog that has been through the puppy stage this guy if for you.  Please consider Mitch he so wants to love you and
for you to love him...

8/8/05 Mitch arrived in CT on Sunday.  Just getting to know this boy, but I can tell you a few things.  First of all, he
loves to ride in the car.  He gets so comfortable that at one point he was stretch in the back seat on his back with
his legs in the air.  Second he is a very calm quiet boy, in fact when people ring the door bell he does not bark and
only gets up when you do and lets your guest enter with only a few sniffs.

We have gone on a few walks so far and he is great on the leash and when meeting people and dogs along the
way he does not pull too hard.  Once you pass them he turns his attention to the next bush to mark.  Tomorrow I
will be leaving him alone so we will see how that goes.  I just want to say that if first impressions are your best
then this is one great dog who will make a great addition to your family.  He is a keeper....

PS I wish you could see him now, because I gave him a plush soft rabbit to play with and he's sleeping  with it like
a blanket.  The poor boy is probably confused and not sure where he is right now so maybe this is giving him
some security.  He so needs a forever home.  Please consider this baby...

8/7/05 Mitch arrived in CT today and what a sweet calm boy. This will have to be short because I have not had
much time with him, but first impressions are usually the best and mine is that he will fit into any home who is
looking for wonderful boxer.
