5/11/05 - Hey everybody!!! My foster Mom got the call last night! A very nice family wants me to
come and live with them forever. I think they are coming for me on Sunday.
Woot, woot!!!
5/9/05 - Hello all, Max here. So, what do you think of my new photograqphs? I look pretty darn
good, don't I? If I do say so myself...
I am really happy here at my foster home, but I really want a forever home. I am feeling MUCH better
than I
did when I first arrived. My foster Mom and Dad feed me well, and I have little Zoe Boxer to play
with.
I have been working on being a well behaved boxer. You see, I have alot of enthusiasm for life, and
sometimes I need to be reminded to sit and stay. My foster Mom gives me treats and praise when I
listen.
I have been doing very well, because I LOVE treats!!!
There is only one thing that is missing in my life -- a forever home. I am a good boy, I like to play with
Zoe, I am smart (or so my foster Mom says) and I think I look pretty handsome now. Also, I don't
drool alot, if that was a concern.
Is there room in your heart for a loveable guy like me? Please call my foster Mom and say you would
like
to take me home...
5/2/05 - "Max the man" is doing well. His recovery from his neuter was uneventful. His weight is now
just about average for a guy his size. He doesn't look like the same dog that came to us from the
shelter.
He is quite the boxer boy!! He loves to play ball, plays "fetch" and can catch the ball when you throw
it to him. His appetite is great, and mealtime is an event. He loves his nice soft bed, but will check out
the furniture if we are not watching. Just like a typical boxer. And he loves to kiss. Not just little licks,
he uses his entire tongue!!
He loves the outdoors and going outside is another big event in his life. He and Zoe love to run, and to
play 'chewy face'.
This boy would make a wonderful addition to your family. He has lots of energy, but will settle down
to cuddle, too. He is patiently waiting for his forever home. Could it be yours?
4/13/05 - Mighty Max is getting his nip and tuck today. He looks really good and he's ready to go.
He might be a little tired from his duties though, from the look of him in the picture of him on the couch!
4/2/05 - Good News about Mr. Max! He is beginning to gain weight and his loose poop issue seems
to be resolved. Next step -- his nip and tuck -- scheduled for the 13th. After that -- Your house??
You won't be sorry, this is one great guy.
3/4/05 - Mr. Max is doing well, and is a very happy, sweet boxer boy. He and Zoe scuffle on
occasion, but I
think that it's more Zoe's fussiness than Max's manners.
On the weight front: We have had him on the hamburger and rice diet, and as soon as we reintroduce
dog food, his stools get very loose. He hasn't gained weight as quickly as we had hoped. We are still
holding off on
his neuter until he has gained some more weight.
We have evaluated him regarding children under 4 and have decided that he is a little too big, and full of
energy (a typical 2 year old Boxer Boy) to live with little kids.
He is a sweet guy that needs lots of exercise and some training. He is very smart, and will learn quickly.
He will go into the crate, but not without some prodding (and a treat). Once in there, he complains at
first, then settles down. A bone for company really helps. As you can see from his photograph, he
loves the dog bed. Especially when it's located in front of the fireplace on a cold evening. He also loves
the furniture! We are working on discouraging that.
Once we get his bowels under control, he should gain weight quickly, will be ready for his 'nip and
tuck',
and then a place in your home!
2/25/05 - We decided to hold off on Max's neuter for a week or so, until he has an opportunity to gain
some weight and until we get his loose poops under control. We are making progress on both,
thankfully. We switched him to the hamburger and rice diet, and after one day, we are seeing
improvement. He looks like he has put on a little weight, too.
He is such a good boy, even with the loose poop situation, he has not had an accident in the house. We
have been feeding him three times a day, which he loves. He is now willingly going into the crate (with
a treat as the incentive).
Like most boxers, Mr. Max is not fond of going out when the weather is wet. He does go out, but
comes
right back in, all full of energy and wanting Zoe to play. She's not so sure about wanting to play with
this big boy. Max is a VERY sweet and loving guy. I told him this morning that he is beginning to look
like "somebody's dog", not "nobody's dog". Is yours the family that Max has been looking for? You
won't be sorry.
2/18/05 - Just a quick update on our friend Max. He got to meet Miss Zoe the queen of the house. It
was a non event. I think she was surprised that he wasn't really interested in her. She showed him all
of the nooks and crannies of the back yard this morning, and they are getting to be buddies. Max is
scheduled for his neuter on Tuesday, then he will be ready to come to your house. Don't wait another
minute on that application.
2/15/05 - Maxie is settling in nicely with us. He spent most of his first day snoozing in the crate --
having spent two weeks in a shelter.
He loves to be petted and to cuddle and he is very appreciative of any little thing that you do for him.
Max is a very sweet, gentle boy who loves to be loved. He wags his tail when he is nose to nose with
Zoe, with the gate between them. We will try further introductions in the next day or so.
He is eating like a champ, so he should be gaining some weight soon. He knows some basic commands
like 'sit' 'come' and 'paw'. He is VERY food motivated and will do just about anything for a treat (or
even a morsel of his dog food). His neuter is scheduled for 2/22 and after that he will be ready to go.
Get your application in for this stellar boy, I think he is going to get snatched up!!
2-13-05 - Max has arrived at Burlington Boxers. Many thanks to Martin, who spent his Sunday helping
Boxers get to their foster homes. Max is an owner surrender to a nice shelter who took good care of
him. He is a very thin white boy, who sports several fawn patches. We are making arrangements for his
nip & tuck and will be concentrating on fattening him up.
He seems to be a really sweet and loving boy with people, we are unsure of his feelings toward other
dogs. More to come as we get to know this boy a little better.

Boy was I skinny when I got here!
