6/9/05 - Good news! 'Lil had her vet appt and he gave her a clean bill of health, also he found her scar so she
doesn't have to go through a spay right now after all! He also mentioned that he was impressed with her sweet
temperment and said she was one of the calmest, nicest dogs he had met in a long time! I agree, she is a doll
and we love having her! Please consider her for your home, she will be so happy to have a permanent home and
I can tell you, you wont regret taking her. We had thunderstorms last night and she didn't cower or bark (like
some 'people' in my house..) she just watched the storm with me and my family then got bored and fell asleep!
She is starting to get her appetite back and eating her kibble now with no added 'goodies', I think she just
needed time to adjust! She does well in the house unattended from 7-8 hrs at a time, after that - she needs to go
out! We discovered she does know how to 'shake' and has very good manners when you give her a treat, no
snapping just a lot of drooling! She is gentle with little kids and very patient too so if you have them or if you have
other dogs I know she will do just fine!
6/6/05 - After spending the whole weekend with this sweet girl, we now know why the shelter wanted us to send
pictures and updates of how she was doing! What a nice dog she is! For a dog that was abandoned on the side
of a road in April she is kind of a picky eater but I will try some creative ways to get her to eat her kibble! She may
have had to scrounge for food so maybe she prefers 'people food'. She may be a little shy in the beginning but
she found her voice this morning when the garbage men came by! She quiets really easily though and responds
to a lot of words and commands! She does really well with my 7yr old son, she is very gentle and doesn't mind
him following her around and hugging her! My dog Draco loves her too and she hasn't shown any aggression
with her food or with his curious sniffs so that is a good sign! I took her out on the leash Sunday and she was
really good on it. ‘Lil loves being out in the yard but is not thrilled about walking up and down the stairs to get
out there. I gotta say, of all the foster’s I’ve had, the senior dogs are my favorite, so mellow and cool,
sweet and loving, they just lay around waiting for a nice pat on the head or a treat and anything you do for them is
just so appreciated- why wouldn't you want to have a loving friend like that around after a long day at work or to
keep you company during the day? She has had the run of the house along with Draco and except for the
'garbage can incident' (my bad, what was I thinking leaving the can out?) and so far she hasn’t had any
accidents, she is very ladylike and acts like she wouldn’t even think about peeing in the house, heaven
forbid! She is being checked out by the vet on Wed and her spay is on Friday so I will update after she recovers
from that. All her shots where updated at the shelter and they noted a small corneal abrasion on one of her eyes,
which doesn’t seem to bother her at all! 'Lil is a sweet ole gal and I am sure she will give someone plenty of
love if given the chance!
6/4/05 - Our new foster's transport went off perfectly this morning thanks to Tinder. We know little about this poor
girl except that the ACO found her drifting around in CT in late April. She is a pretty fawn with natural ears and a
docked tail, very sweet temperment (per the shelter) was really good in the car and so far seems to be liking our
house. We tried a bunch of commands on her, she has a hard time sitting, one of her back legs may have some
arthritis. She is all up to date on shots but is not neutered yet. She also needs a thyroid check (also per the
shelter), she looks pretty good though and as we get to know her I will update the site.
