1/9/05 - The last week we have had enough snow up here in Maine to stick around & make for
several inches of fluff on the ground.  Well, I have come to find out Krom must be half snowshoe
rabbit!  He LOVES the snow & will bounce around like a giant bunny rabbit in it, trying to get the
other dogs to play with him!  Little does he realize, the others all hate the snow & think Krom is NUTS
for loving it!   Krom will catch snowballs & when I was shoveling the path to the dog yard, his eyes
bugged out of his head like he was sooooo excited!  I scooped up a shovel of fluffy, light snow & he
started bouncing up & down & going crazy behind the chainlink gate to the fenced area.  I threw the
shovel of snow toward him & he jumped right in the snow's path & body slammed the snow with the
biggest grin on his face!  We continued a few more shovels like this-he loves this game!   If you adopt
Krom, you have a guaranteed perfect blocker buddy in a good snowball fight!  No wimpy boxer here,
this guy acts like it is 70 degrees & warm out even in the snow! Kids would also have a blast playing
with Krom in the snow.  So, if you are an outdoorsy type even in the winter (not a hibernator like me!),
then Krom is the best guy for you!

12/26/04 - Krom had a good Christmas & Thanksgiving, but he is sad his new family did not get to
enjoy those holidays with him.  I told him not to worry, he may be home for New Years!   Krom is a
great boy & just loves to do whatever the day holds.  He is great for an active person or family &
would make a wonderful running buddy, hiking dog or someone to play ball with.   I have never seem a
mean bone in his body & he lets you take toys out of his mouth without any trouble too.  He just jumps
back & waits anxiously for you to throw the ball or toy so he can catch it & bring it back to you.  He
loves going for walks & rides in the car too.  What are you waiting for?  This is a young, good looking
boy with a wonderful personality that is ready to come home with you!  Ask for Krom if you think he
would love to come live with you, you will not regret it!

11/24/04 -  Krom has been doing wonderful & is ready & waiting for his new home!  He is a super
sweet & cute boy who just LOVES any type of balls: squeaky balls, tennis balls, big "Jolly Balls", you
name it, it's on Krom's Chistmas wish list!   He is so cute about it too, he will play by himself for a long
time & then suddenly he comes to you with the ball & pushes it into your hand or lap.  He then waits
anxiously for you to throw it so he can bring it right back to do again.

Krom gets along great with my dogs & the only time he has a slight issue is if someone tries to take "his
ball" (that is, the ball of the moment that he is playing with!-LOL).  Then he just gives a warning bark to
tell them to back off.  He never really plays with the other dogs here & shows no interest in playing
with them, but he is perfectly fine around them. I think Krom would be a wonderful "only dog" or in a
home with an older dog that really is not interested in playing with him too much.  He is very active, but
his energy is easily focused on the ball & he does like to entertain himself too.  He would also be a
great jogging partner or for a home with kids to play with.  He is perfectly house & crate trained, never
an accident here at all.

One thing I have found Krom to not be good with though is cats!  He started out just being super
curious & very playful with them & would jump back if he was swatted.  Just recently though it has
escalated that he is showing much more of a "prey drive" with the cats, which is not something you can
work out of them.  Better hurry, Krom is a wonderful, young, super sweet & adorable boxer boy that
will be gone soon!

11/7/04 Unfortunately Krom had to come back to rescue as the adoptive family's son developed
severe allergies. We are just getting to know him as he settles in. So far we know he is a loving boy
and loves to play, especially ball! He is very nervous around the other dogs, so we will take things
slowly. Stay tuned for more on handsome Krom!

UPDATED10/1/04 - It's been a little over a month since Krom arrived.  We have come out of the
"honeymoon" phase and into the "settling in" phase. We had some issues with counter surfing, but with
a little gentle guidance and some change of habits on our part, we think that is behind us.  Our son
wakes up every morning about 30 minutes before he has to so he and Krom can have some bonding
time before both of their days start. Krom sees Ryan off to the bus most mornings and can't wait until
the afternoon when Ryan returns. Krom starts obedience training this month, and we are looking
forward to working with him.  We couldn't be happier with our choice.

UPDATED 9-21-04 - We are all getting along at this time.  Krom has settled into his routine and
recognizes that we will come back to him.  We have started working with Krom in a couple of trouble
areas.  Number one, he is dog agressive to strange dogs that we  meet while walking.  We are trying to
socialize him with other dogs.
Some times he behaves himself and other times he will lunge and try to bite.  Number two, literally, he
has had an issue of coming inside from walking and proceeded to go on the floor.  At this point we are
kind of at a loss as to why he would do it.

Krom has gone to the ocean with us and was pretty funny trying to smell everything.  He really enjoyed
riding in the car and sitting next to Ryan so that he could lay his head in Ryan's lap.  Krom is a very
sweet boy and he will shadow us from room to room.  If we settle into a chair he will settle down to.  It
will only be a little bit though before he is asking you to throw the ball for him.  He has already gone
through three of the bigger tennis-ball-type balls.  We are looking to get him a couple of bigger rubber
balls for him to play with.  He is a little rough in his play, so Ryan and I play with him together to let
Krom know when he is getting a little too rough.

We are trying to schedule the time for Krom to start his obedience class, when this has been
accomplished I will update you.  Krom has been licensed and is a legal resident of the town.

UPDATED – 08/29/04 It has been a week since picking Krom up in New York and he is starting to
adjust nicely to being with us.  We expected him to be nervous for the first couple of weeks, but he is
settling down aleady and seems to know he has a permanent home.  He had a peroid where he was
very vocal about being put in the crate and knowing we were leaving.  Krom has since realized that the
longest period of time spent in the crate is two hours and that he can easily spend that time playing with
his toys.  You all know that he loves his balls, but he also likes the stuffed toy he picked out at the
store.  We have found that he is a little aggressive with strange dogs, but we hope to solve that with
some socialization at training.

Krom has really taken a liking to my son, Ryan, and is very interested in anything that he is doing.
Ryan thinks that Krom is the greatest thing since sliced bread.  They seem to be doing a lot together,
from playing to sleeping.  My wife and I are very happy with the results of our choice and have found
Krom to be a very good boy.

8/21/04 - Krom has been adopted!

8/16/ 04 Krom has been here at his foster home for over a week already.  He has been brought up to
date on his vaccinations and was a great boy at the vets office.  All the girls were just charmed by his
good behavior and looks.  We then took him to a garden and feed store where they have a huge pet
department and he met lots and lots of people there.  He was great with everyone.  His foster dad let
him pick out a toy which of course was a tennis ball with a handle which he loves.  Krom would play
ball for hours and hours.  He would be a great dog for anyone that wanted perhaps to do fly ball.  He
is getting along pretty good with his foster brothers and sister.  He plays very hard and has a few
favorites for rough housing.  He continues to be great in his crate during the work day and is in our
bedroom at night with everyone else.  He is eating good and the vet said that he is in great shape-just
the right weight for him.  He does continue to show some dominance but as soon as he is spoken to, he
will
forget it.  Krom will benefit from a basic obedience course and will quickly bond with a family that has
time and patience to make him a part of their family.  He is a beautiful boxer and he just can't wait to
meet his new family.

8/13/2004 Krom has done just wonderful at adjusting to his foster home.  He is getting use to the
schedule that we have here and seems very happy.  He is crated during the work day and is very good
in his crate.  You have to help him in the crate but he already knows that once he is in, he will get a
peanut butter filled marrow bone. The first day this week, he never touched his bone but the rest of the
week, he gets to work on it right away.  He settles in very nicely and has had no accidents in his crate.
We had a couple of accidents in the house but have not had any in the last three days so he is learning
what is expected of him.  He is getting along good with his foster brothers and sister but does show a
little bit on dominance.  None of the residents so far have challenged him so life is all good according to
Krom.  He will occupy himself with either a ball or a stuffed animal.  He doesn't like sharing his most
favorite toy (the ball) but he does like a good game of chase me with the other dogs.  He is a young
male dog so he does have alot of energy and will keep playing when everyone else is enjoying a nap.
As he settles in here, he will begin to relax more but he is high energy.  He is eating twice daily here and
will usually finish is bowl of kibbled and a small addition of maybe some gravy or can.  He likes a little
something special in it, he is not fussy.  Krom likes to play with his foster dad and really enjoys some
rough-housing.  He plays with the other dogs here and it is fun to watch because he gets so happy that
he almost gets beside himself.  Krom needs to work on some basic obedience commands but does
know a few like sit, down, off and come.  He prefers to come only when he wants to so we are trying
to reinforce that coming is a good thing.  He is smart, he just has to figure out that he needs to be
consistant.  Krom also needs to work on reading other dogs.  He doesn't take a growl perhaps to say I
have had enough from the other dogs seriously but I do believe that he will pick up on this. Krom will
do well in a home where he will be a big part of the household. He loves attention and is his happiest
when he is with people.  Krom will need an active family because of all his energy but at the end of the
day, he will be there to snuggle in.  He is a love.  He will be a great friend and companion to any family
that adopts him.  He just can't wait to meet you.

8/8/04 - Krom has arrived at the Boxer'In on the Lake.  Krom is an owner surrender who was well
take care of and loved very much but his owner made the hard decision to turn him into rescue as his
life style had changed and he worked long hours leaving Krom alone for too long.  Krom and his foster
family would like to thank Ralph for going again above and beyond to do the transport on this great
guy.  Krom is a fawn with white neutered male, with cropped ears and tail, and four white feet.  He is
beautiful and weighs about 65 pounds. He is in great shape and shouldn't be long in rescue.  Krom has
met all the residents of the Boxer'In and seems to like the other dogs. He hasn't eaten yet but I expect
by tonight he will be ready for his dinner.  He is handling this big adjustment very well. He will act a
little fearful at times but he also is aware of the big change that he has had in his life. We are working on
being crated and he barked for a little bit last night but then settled down but would wake up every
couple of hours to let us know he was still here.  I got up early with him and we took a walk and then
we hit the spare bedroom for another little bit of sleep. He is very happy when he is with people or
other dogs.  He has alot of energy as he is young but he is also nervous in his new situation.  He has
already showed up how much he likes balls.  They are by far his most favorite toy in the whole world.
Krom needs a family that will make him a big part of their life.  He will be a great addition to any
family.  With some obedience training and some patience you will have a great dog and companion.
He certainly is deserving of his second chance.
