7/9/05 -
Sadly we had to make the very tough decision to send Jack to the Rainbow Bridge today.  He just could not overcome his aggression issues towards strangers & other animals.  Deep down I knew when he came back into my care 2 months ago that he was going to be a hard one to find that 1 home in a 100 that could work with him and have success.  He just had too many issues from early on that were not worked with in his original home & he spent too much time alone, without a lot of socialization, when he was very young.  I am very sorry Jack that I could not help you & know you will have an unlimited number of tennis balls & jolly balls to play with where you are now.

7/6/05 - Jack is not available for adoption at this time.  We are further evaluating some ongoing behavioral issues he has.

6/23/05 -
Jack is still waiting for his new home to come along.  He is doing very well at my house, but does not want to accept any new fosters coming into the house.  Funny thing is he walked right back into my house after many months & never had any issues with my 2 dogs, guess he's trying to keep his spot & doesn't want booted out! :)   Jack still loves going for rides in the car & playing with any ball he can get his mouth on, the big Jolly Ball still being his favorite overall (I think it's the accomplishment of him finally getting a good grip on the huge ball & being able to run off with it!).  Don't you have the right home with this special boy?  He deserves another chance at a home & I do feel he will make a great buddy in the right home.

5/31/05 -  Yo guys, it's me, Jack!  It has been a month since I arrived here and I am still waiting for my new permanent hangout to come along.   I do okay around them two dogs that live here, but I do not care for the new foster dogs trying to slide in on my turf!  I really do not like hanging out with the other dogs and I would be happiest as your only pal.  Them cats, I warns ya, don't trust those sneaky/nosey things!  There's one big Boss here of that Feline Family & man, he's got one bad karate chop!  I have learned to steer clear of that Family.  Me & the Feline Family do not like to share our areas, so I gotta find me a space with none of that Family around.
.
Okay, so what if I am not your "Social Butterfly" type of a guy?!   I am just a cool guy with a little tough guy thrown in so no one messes with my family (some say a little too much-hey, a guy's gotta watch out for his family!), what more do you need?   I do have a special request of the new place I move into, you need lots of entertainment for me to keep me busy:  tennis balls to big Jolly Balls-I am not picky when it comes to my favorite type of entertainment!  I am a great watchdog & I will make sure I watch anyone who comes knocking at our door.  I've been told my attitude is not good enough to socialize with these visitors (hey, wait, I think that's meant as an INSULT!?), but I am happy just watching them from my crate & I hear EVERYTHING (why else you think I got these radar ears!?).  Kind of hard to protect you's guys that way though, but hey, whatever the Boss says!  Just as long as the number of visitors stays to a minimum, we'll be happy together.  So, get them applications in now as I am ready to move on!
Jack (AKA: Rabbit)

- Jack is a very cute fawn boy about 2 1/2 years old with cropped ears & a docked tail.  With his best interest in mind, Jack was very sadly surrendered by his family yesterday.  Though he loved his family & vice versa, Jack was too protective of them to be happy with the activity level they have with people coming & going, etc.   His family felt it was not fair to always have to crate him when their kids' friends came over or they had visitors.  They tried very hard to make it work, but unfortunately Jack's personality as he has matured is just not a fit for their household.

We spent the day doing errands yesterday & "bonding" & Jack cuddled a lot as I drove--he is a lovebug!  Funny thing was he got in a play mode later in the day & decided his outdoor Jolly Ball toy should be brought out IN the car to play!  His family sent it with him & it was in a bag behind the back seat.  I could not figure out what Jack was doing digging in the back behind the seat, like he was trying to get something desperately out.  Turned out it was for one of his favorite toys--the Jolly Ball!  No matter how many other toys & balls I tried to show him, he had his mind set on that ONE! LOL

So what kind of home does Jack need?  Well, he really just needs a more quiet home without a lot of activity with visitors.  He would not do well in an apartment/condo or big city type setting, but a nice home in the country or a home with a fenced yard for him to get exercise would be great.  He would love to live with kids, but since not many kids never have friends over, it would probably not work out this time.  Jack is not a cat lover so he needs a home without cats too.  I will check on him with my other dogs as he settles in some.  He is an active boy, so he would make a great hiking or jogging partner too, but in a quieter area. Watch for more updates soon!
