UPDATE 2/16/05 -  WHAT A SWEET BOY WE HAVE ADOPTED HERE, HUNTER IS
SUCH A GOOD DOG , YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOUR GETTING INTO WHEN YOU
TAKE THAT PLUNGE BUT WE WERE SO LUCKY ..  HE DOES SO MANY THINGS FOR
ATTENTION, I THINK THE FUNNIEST YET WAS JUMPING RIGHT INTO OUR BED
AND TRYING TO WIGGLE BETWEEN US  KISSING AND NIBBLING BOTH OF US. HE
HAS GAINED WEIGHT ALREADY AND NEVER LEAVES OUR SIDE WHEN WERE
OUTSIDE ,OUR ROUTINE HAS BEEN MEMORIZED ALREADY, IF WERE BEHIND
SCHEDULE IN THE AM   HUNTER IS THERE TO TELL US,, HE PICKS UP
EVERYTHING SO QUICKLY CAN'T IMAGINE ANYONE ABUSING HIM, JUST GLAD
WE GOT HIM FROM THAT ENVIROMENT BEFORE ANY PERMANENT DAMAGE
WAS DONE. I KNOW HE IS VERY HAPPY IN HIS NEW HOME AND THATS WHAT
MATTERS MOST!!

1/21/05 - Hunter is doing very well & boy does he not act 5 years old at all!  He has a bouncy,
playful & happy personality & is pretty active, more like a 2-3 year old! :)  He is doing great in his
crate when I am not home.  The shelter he came from did a great job with him medically & took off
7 lumps because he is a boxer & they are known for getting cancerous tumors.  Well, luckily Hunter
only had ONE lump that was lowest grade Mass Cell Tumor!   The rest were nothing (he was just a
little lumpy I guess!--LOL).
I took Hunter with me last Saturday to the Boxer Rescue Awareness Day (BRAD) we had at a
local pet supply store.  He had the BEST time meeting everyone, from little kids (that poor 2 year
old that got the sneaky big KISS from Hunter & the boy thought he was just going to PET Hunter!)
to big kids to adults of all ages.  He is a little too much & rough & big for the little ones, though he
does not want to hurt them & he loves them, it is just their faces are on "kiss level" & they are at
"knockdown level"!  I did find that Hunter is definitely a very dominant boy & he was not good with
the other dogs.  He was not nasty about seeing the other dogs at the BRAD, but he pinned one
smaller boxer down to the ground & it would have become a fight if the other dog had done
anything back.  He also barked & pulled when he was not allowed to get close to the other dogs
coming & going in the store--again, not nasty, but I know he would have been too dominant when
meeting any of them & it could have turned into a fight.  After awhile he went to wait for a bit in the
car to give him a break from the excitement.  Hunter did great waiting for me & loved all the
attention he received for the day.  Everyone kept saying how cute he was & how sweet & kissy!

Hunter would make a great family dog where there were no other dogs or cats there.  He is not
going to be your dog park or doggie daycare type dog, but he will be the one you can take for
rides, walks, running or to visit people as he is your social butterfly when it comes to people of all
ages!

1/9/05 - Hunter has arrived thanks to Elizabeth & Bruce for going to pick him up & meeting me
today.  He was a surrender to a shelter that contacted us to help as Hunter was not doing so well
being kenneled (most boxers don't).  He needed to be back in a home where he could be more
comfortable, so here he is at the Boxer Oasis!   Boy, is Hunter a BEAUTY!  He is a 5 year old
reddish fawn neutered male with a black mask, docked tail & natural ears.   He rode great in the
car & enjoyed riding in the back seat & sniffy the fresh, cold air out the car window as we drove.
We spent the day doing errands & "bonding", Hunter waited patiently in the car like a gentleman
every time I stopped for a few minutes to run into somewhere.  He would be so happy to see me
each time I would get a kiss!    The shelter said Hunter came in with a female other breed dog that
he lived with & she was placed already.  I will be testing him with my animals (cats, dogs & cage of
birds) in the next few days, after he has some time to settle in a little.  Watch for more updates soon
on this big boy!
