9/9/05 - It's official, Guss is in his permanent home! His foster Mom has decided that Guss would not
do well with a change at this time in his life & he is happy just lounging on her couch the rest of his days,
like he does now!
Thank you to those who have supported Guss over the last year he was in rescue and for those that
wished him luck in finding his home. Special thanks to Barb, who was also recently willing to give Guss
his permanent home!
7/23/05- Gus here! Just wanted to let you know I'm doing well and still looking for my forever home.
Do you need a loving companion, a gentle giant, someone to hang around with? Then I am your dog! I
love to lounge around and be lazy. I get my spurts of energy too-I have to keep up with the others in
the house
here! :) I am very loving and calm, just looking for somewhere to call home and rest my bones. Don't
look me over because of my age-I plan on being around for a LONG TIME! I am also practically
maintenance free! Please ask for me soon, I have been waiting too long and for no reason except my
age! :(
3/1/05- Guss is doing great here, he is very laid back and very funny when he gets his energy spurts. He
doesn't bother with the other dogs much except the puppy, they love to play. It's funny to watch big old
Guss and this tiny 4 mo.old puppy play together.Guss still has hope of finding his forever home but is
enjoying his stay here for now! He is very spoiled, if he can't find a spot on the couch he will kind of
whimper till he does get a spot - it's easier on his bones. He may be getting old but still has a lot of
spunk. Guss needs someone who can exercise him, it's hard right now with the snow and all but he has
put on a few winter pounds since he has been here. Hopefully spring is not too far away! All the
residents need some exercise too!
01/22/05- Guss continues to do well here and even has a routine down for bed time, he loves to sleep in
the crate now instead of fighting me! He has gained some weight over the holidays and is trying hard to
lose it! lol! He is getting along well with the others but still insist on harrassing the cat. I think the cat
finds this amusing cause he just runs and hides! Guss still has hope for his forever home to come along
and waits patiently. Even though he enjoys life here he still would like a place to call home where he can
have a family of his own to retire to. So if you dont have any pesky cats Guss would make a good catch!
01/2/2005- Guss is doing well, and getting to be a rolly polly. The Holidays did him in. He just couldn't
help himself, all those yummy treats are not fat free and boy did he enjoy! Guss had another run in with
the cat
and this time got a scratch on his nose, you'd think he'd learn. No he just keeps going back for more!
Guss likes to lay around on the couch like he is king of the castle(he is) and likes to give hugs and kisses,
but boy his breath is nasty! I've tried everything i could think of but nothing seems to tame the beastly
smell. We don't hold that against him though he is not the only one with bad breath in this house of 6
pooches. We still let him give us love and we in return give him all the love he needs untill his forever
home comes along.
11/25/04 - Well, we thought we had a home for Guss but unfortunately it fell through, he is taking it well!
Still trying to get that rascally cat and snuggling on the couch with me. We had our first bit of snow and
he loved it, running around like a spring chicken on a hot summer day! Did I mention that Guss loves to
snuggle? He also loves to give hugs and boxer kisses. He gets along fine with the other 5 dogs here but
is a bit touchy with his food. He will give a little growl and they back off. but all in all he is a great dog.
he doesn't need to be crated but I do crate him at night for the cats safety! He is just a little ruff for the
cat, but plays fine with someone his own size! He knows there is a wonderful home somewhere out
there for him and is willing to wait for just the right one. Soooo... if you think you can give him a loving
home he is waiting!
10/13/04- Guss is getting along just fine here other than his eye is still healing from his run in with the cat,
no he hasn't learned his lesson! He is more of a laid back kinda boxer, he'd rather lounge on the couch
than rough house with the younger dogs. He does get his energy spurts and plays hard with the rest of
them but he is a lover not a fighter! Guss loves to follow my daughter around and will do what ever she
has in store for him at the time. He is a big snuggle bunny and would love a home of his own with a
loving family!
9/28/04- Guss here, mom said I could use the pc to let everyone know what I've been up to. I am just
hanging out waiting for the phone to ring and have it be someone wanting to call me their own! Although
I like it here fine I really want to have a family of my own. There are alot of dogs here and a pesky cat
that I wouldn't mind getting a hold of! Lucky for him he can get away and hide from me. The other dogs
here are pretty cool and like to snuggle with me, and we play in the yard (mom don't let us rough house
in the house!) Did I mention the food is good here too? Me and the others are always getting little tid
bits for treats from mom and dad, yumm! Well, gonna go for now but hurry and call I'm waiting!
9/7/04- Guss is doing great and hasn't marked again since he has been out of the crate more and more.
He loves the other dogs and all humans but cats, I'm afraid should not be in his future! He lunges for my
cat every chance he gets, I think the meowing is annoying to him, me too! Guss does not care for being
in his crate but will tolerate it if need be. He only gets crated when I leave the house now and he sleeps
with me so he is in heaven.Guss would like you to know he is waiting for his forever home and not to let
his age fool you , he has many more years of love, hugs and kisses for someone special!
9/3/04- Well, Guss went through his neuter great and is resting for the day. He is coming along fine,
except for a couple of accidents that I think is "marking". We will be watching out for this and try to
correct it. Guss is a big love bug and likes to keep his human in his site at all times (trying to work on
that too). Guss is good with the other dogs here and the kids, he loves and kisses everyone he comes in
contact with and is ready for a regular routine in a home of his own. Keep you eye on Guss for more
updates
9/1/04 - I'D LIKE TO INTRODUCE YOU TO OUR NEW FOSTER GUSS. HE IS A BRINDLE
MALE WITH NATURAL EARS AND DOCKED TAIL. HE ARRIVED SAFELY THANKS TO
RALPH AND JILL! WAY TO GO GUYS! GUSS WAS IN A HIGH KILL SHELTER AND
LUCKILY WE GOT HIM BEFORE HIS TIME WAS UP. SO FAR HE SEEMS VERY PASSIVE
AND EASY GOING, BUT THEN AGAIN HE IS AROUND 7 YRS OLD ACCORDING TO HIS
PAPERS. I WILL UPDATE AS SOON AS WE GET TO KNOW HIM BETTER.
