UPDATE 6/23/05 - It feels like Gus has been with us for a long time. He has adapted extremely well
to our household. He loves to be outside, the backyard is completely fenced in now so they go out
alot. Gus and Rocky are best buddies. They are together all the time. Gus likes to snuggle up with
Rocky and with us. He actually tries to drape himself over your shoulders if you can even imagine! He
is a big marshmallow. We took him to Sebago Lake and he is slowly getting more comfortable with
the water. He starts to float and gets scared. Gus is fasinated with our cat, Charlie. They get along
fine.Charlie tolerates him. Sometimes Charlie teases him. It is interesting to see our babies getting
older and how protective Gus and Rocky are now that they are crawling all over the place. The
babies love Gus and grab him and he loves their attention. Now I have a van so the babies, dogs, and
double stroller will all fit in the vehicle. The dogs do not want to miss the chance for a ride. Gus has a
healthy appetite. He loves marrow bones. He went on antibiotics for an infected pimple. Everyone at
the vet just adored him! He is doing really well.
UPDATE 5/19/05 - Gus is doing great. He is adjusting very well to our hectic 'twin baby boys
household' Rocky is so happy to have his own brother to play with. They got along instantly. Gus likes
to sit on top of Rocky and lay on top of him too. We discourage the behavior although Rocky doesn't
seem to mind at all. Gus is having private training sessions with Nancy Freedman-Smith with
Gooddogz Training (671-2522).He is learning clicker training, proper greetings, coming to his name
and to use the doggie door. This training has boosted his confidence. He holds his ears up high and
prances around. He is definitely understanding that this is his forever home because he barks if he
heres a noise outside. Sort of like, who is on my territory. He is getting lots of treats. You weren't
kidding, this dog is alap dog, he is a sweetheart. He has the best temperment. Gus had some accidents
in the house in the beginning but it was short lived. He sleeps on the couch at night. We have gone on
some small outings and he likes the car. We are in the process of installing a fence in our big back
yard. As the boxer boys have been on a few 'field trips' delivered home by neighbors! We love Gus
he is an awesome dog and seems to be adapting very well. His health is good. I made him a vet
appointment for Monday, he has a big pimple on his chin that looks infected. The other boxer we had
use to get this. Oh yah, a couple days after we adopted Gus, I gave him a bath in the tub and he didn't
mind it at all.In fact, he let me blow dry his fur!! Thanks for a great dog!
4/17/05 - Gus has been adopted!
4/13/05 - I found Gus' AKC papers today. He was born on 6/12/04 so he is 10 months old. Gus'
breeder is Jane Newton, Laconia, NH. He is still looking for a great forever home where he will be
loved, and taken care of. Gus needs some training and lots of love and exercise. Do you have an
active home for this great boy?
04/06/05 - Are you looking for a boy to do long walks with? A friend to sit in the front seat on the
way to the store? Someone who will share a pillow on the couch during a good movie? Someone
who will play as long as you can keep up? Well let me tell you Gus is the man for you. This boy is
sweet, energetic, happy, smart and ready for a new home. Gus truly needs another dog to play with
as he has always lived with other dogs. He can be a little shy when he first meets someone but quickly
comes out of his shell. Gus is housebroken and cratetrained. He will really blossom with some
obedience and some confidence. Do you have the time and energy to give Gus the home he deserves?
03/30/04 - Gus continues to do well. He is a sweet guy. He does not have a lot of cofidence so needs
someone that will boost his ego. I think the other dogs he lived with use to really boss him around as
he is unsure of his actions. Gus does very well crated at night and you never hear a peep. He enjoys a
good dinner and some cuddle time in front of the TV. He has not figured out that he is not a lap dog.
He tries his best to fit in your lap. Gus will do well with someone that can devote some time to him.
He would do well with an obedience class to boost is confidence. Don't let this little guy slip away.
03/27/05 - Gus arrived last night. He is an owner surrender with Buster due to allergies. He is a super
sweet boy. He has lived with other dogs and children. I'm unsure about cats. Gus appears to be both
housebroken and cratetrained. He ate a great dinner and settled right in. Gus has a super cute face.
He is one great boy so far. Definitely all puppy and full of energy. Gus will be looking for a home with
another dog. He will not be placed as an only dog. He also needs a home where he will not be left all
day, due to his age and energy level. We will update you more as we get to know this great boy.
