UPDATE 7/26/11 - We lost Gali to cancer the day after her 5th adoptive birthday. She was sick
the day of her birthdayso we were waiting to get her a sdmall ice cream bday cake. As 05/16
went along she had increasing amounts of fluid draininmg from her nose and mouth. We kept her
in between us in bed and kept rubbing her all night and telling how much joy she brought to our
family and all the rescue dogs she allowed to join our family.  We took her to Kay Morgan, our
vet, to see what was going on.  The xrays had shown the cancer had struck her lungs.  We held
her as Dr Morgan slowly gave her the shot.  We then brought Panda into the room and he gave
her a final lick. Her ashes will be added to the memory garden we made after Grandpa died and
where Tiki & Tyson have their ashes.  In a way I can't wait to be with them again when my ashes
join theirs' and we meet up again. I plan to be the boxer being called upon by my dearest friends
to join them forever.  Christine, after me or before, will join us too after her body is returned from
the medical college.  Can't wait to see Grandpa able to walk to meet me, Tiki to want to play
catch, Tyson to have a beautiful smile with uncobditional love in his heart, and Gali to lead the
pack as usual.  Panda will also be there as a goofus like he is now and Sunshine our newest which
we found in the Georgia mountains 2 weeks ago today.
Panda is a boxer/pit/huskie that was locked in a house in Corfu, NY when the people skipped
out. The police finally broke in the house after neighbors called to report hollowing after a
lightning/thunder storm one nioghy.  Everybody assumed that the people who were losing the
house took Panda with them and told the police he had been there at least 8=9 days.  They left no
food and had put the yoilet seats down so that he couldn't get to any water.  The vet told us that
the police said he was eating sheetrock from a hole punched in a wall.  Apparently the people
trashed the house when they couldn't meet the house payments.  Panda weighed 34 pounds by the
vet sheet I was given at the Genesee County Animal Shelter.  Panda now is a healthy 72 pounds
except for the bouts of digestion problems he gets infrequently now.  What a lover he is; every
morning one or both of us gets Panda's full face wash around 5:45to 6.
Sunshine (formerly Princess) came to us because I was looking at the Chattanooga Craigslist for
guys to help my son unload furniture when my son moves from Atlanta to Chattanooga.  I was
looking for temp labor and I just got inquisitive when I saw the word Pets.  I opened up the Pets
area and the first ad posted at 8:04 PM was "Please help me: I have a 6yo Boxer that I have to
find a home tonight or my mother-in-law is throwing my family out. Please don't make me take her
to the pound." I read this ad at 9:01PM and called immediately.  I spoke with Junior and he told
me that he and his wife both lost their jobs at the carpet mills in north Georgia.  They moved into a
single wide trailer with his mother-in-law when their unemployment ran out and all they had were
food stamps.  She hated the dog and kicked at her whenever the dog got in the way as she left for
work or got home.  Let me tell you they were dirt poor when we met up at the post office parking
lot in Wildwood, GA.
A broken down torn-up little pickup, 3 kids in clothes that were to small, Junior, his wife and the
"purebred" boxer.  None of them had any weight on them especially (then) Princess.  She looked
as bad as the Holocaust survivors and had just had all her pups die.  Her nipples were all
stretched out and one was torn. Her vulva was still very large and swollen & really I didn't know if
she'd live till we got back to Atlanta.  The little boy when he saw Panda get out of our car asked
his dad if that was their new dog.  Pretty funny but sad because when we finally loaded up the dog
the boy gave her a big hug as did the dad.  It's so fortunate how something told me to look at the
dogs page on Craigslist that night but I feel so glad I did.  Christine and I agreed that Panda was
the last but when we saw this alleged purebred boxer we said she's part of our family.  By the
way, we got back to our son's house just past 3AM from our trip and getting lost even with a
TomTom.  Long story short (finally)- Sunshine weighed 21 pounds, immediately tested positive for
heartworms, and got a call later from the vet that she also had lungworms and hookworms.  It was
touch and go for 3 days but Sunshine finally wagged her boxer tail but twice during the 1st night
and next her neck started stiffening up and the cloudy glaze started across her eyes.  I just held her
tight and stayed awake the rest of the night telling her how much she had been and always would
be loved by us if she departed that night.  She and Panda are hewre at my feet as I write loving me
as only two part-boxers or full boxers can.
Thanks Frank in Albany for the loving care you gave Gali until you gave me her at her adoption at
the Albany Holiday Inn several years ago.  She looked great then and she really did until her
death.  I imagine thosew 5 boys of yours may have passed too but your love for Gali made much
of the difference in her life.  Thanks foster-dad.
To all of you who ever encounter a smug vet that says "it's a boxer tumor- it's benign"  find another
vet immediately because he or she doesn't know his/her brain from that boxer's rectum.  I'm so
glad we switched to Dr Kay Morgan because she at least sent the tumors to Cornell where they
found the 2nd one she had already metastisized.  Kay gave Gali and now all the rest of our family
the best in boxer treatment and health.  Some vets are too caught up in their own importance that
they forget they have an oath similar to the Hippocratic Oath of doing no harm.
BEST WISHES ALL!  CONTINUE THE GOOD WORK... THE NEED WILL NEVER
SUBSIDE IN OUR CURRENT ECONOMIC SITUATION.

UPDATE 5/24/10 - I PICKED UP TYSON FROM JULIE ON SATURDAY 05/15 @ NH
LIQUOR STORE. WE DROVE FOR QUITE A WHILE BEFORE WE STOPPED FOR
LUNCH ON THE MASS TURNPIKE.  I GOT A CHICKEN DINNER @ BOSTON
MARKET & TYSON SAT ON THE TAILGATE WITH MEWHILE I ATE THE
VEGETABLES.  WHEN I FINISHED I GAVE HIM THE MEAT OFF THE CHICKEN
BREAST- WE BECAME QUICK BEST FRIENDS.  WHEN WE GOT TO GENESEO I PUT
TYSON INSIDE THE BACKYARD FENCE.  AS I WENT IN THE FRONT DOOR I
HEARD GALI & CADET TRYING TO BREAK THROUGH THE FRENCH DOORS TO
GET TO TYSON.  I OPENED THE DOOR & THE 2 GIRLS RAN OUT TO MEET TYSON.
AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES OF MUTUAL SNIFFING THE 3 BEGAN RUNNING
AROUND THE YARD IN A BLUE ANGELS FORMATION. TYSON WAS THE GROUP
LEADER WITH GALI ON HIS LEFT & CADET ON HIS RIGHT.  THEY DID 2 BIG
CIRCULAR LAPS & THEN 13 YO GALI FELL OUT OF FORMATION AND CAME
OVER WITH A BIG PANTING SMILE SHOWING HER APPROVAL OF TYSON.
WHERE WAS MY VIDEO CAMERA WHILE THE 3 WERE IN FORMATION?

LATER AFTER THEY HAD DINNER WE CELEBRATED GALI'S & CALLIE'S (OUR
CAT) BIRTHDAYS.  WE GAVE THEM EACH A SCOOP OF VANILLA ICE CREAM &
WE SANG HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR FAMILY MEMBERS.  WE ALSO WELCOMED
TYSON TO THE EHRENBERG CLAN.  I WAS PRETTY TIRED FROM DRIVING  SO I
WENT TO BED ABOUT 9 & ALL 3 DOGS JUMPED UP ON THE BED WITH ME.  GALI
LET TYSON SLEEP UP NEXT TO ME & THE OTHER 2 SLEPT AT THE FOOT OF THE
BED.  A FEW MINUTES LATER CALLIE CAT JUMPED ON THE BED & CAME UP TO
RUB TYSON'S HEAD.  TYSON DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO SO HE JUST LAID HIS
HEAD BACK DOWN & SLEPT.  CALLIE CAT IS OUR 4TH BOXER, IN SPIRIT,
BECAUSE SHE EATS DOG FOOD & DOG TREATS- SHE WON'T EAT CAT FOOD AT
ALL.  YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN HER LICK UP HER SCOOP OF ICE CREAM
DURING THE PARTY.

OLE GALI IS LOOKING PRETTY GREAT @ 13.  SHE HAD HER ANAL GLANDS
REMOVED A FEW MONTHS AGO SO THE HISTAMINES DON'T MAKE PEOPLE
ITCH.  THE GLANDS WERE FILLED WITH THE MOST OFFENSIVE SMELLING
FLUID WHEN DR LONG OPENED THEM UP TO CAUTERIZE THE SECRETABLE
LININGS.  BEST MOVE WE EVER MADE FOR GALI.  SHE LOVES TO HAVE HER
NAILS TRIMMED SO I USE MY PETICURE TO FILE THEM DOWN.  WE CERTAINLY
HOPE GALI'S HEALTH WILL ALLOW HER A FEW MORE YEARS WITH US BEFORE
SHE JOINS TIKI & GRANDPA ON THE OTHER SIDER.

TYSON ALLOWED ME TO TRIM HIS NAILS FOR THE 3RD TIME TODAY.  NO
MORE SQUIRMING LIKE THE 1ST TWO TIMES.  PLAN TO GET HIM TO DR LONG
EARLY THIS WEEK FOR A CHECKUP SO WE CAN GET HIM LICENSED.  GOT TO
GO GET HIS SPECIAL NAME/ADDRESS TAG MADE THIS WEEK TO WEAR WITH
HIS SCBR TAG.  I HOPE THEY HAVE A TAG DESIGN THAT STICKS OUT AS WELL
AS GALI'S, CADET'S & CALLIE'S.  IT SO GREAT TO HAVE ANOTHER MALE IN THE
HOUSE AGAIN.  IT'S TOUGH MEETING ALL THE DEMANDS PUT ON ME BY MY
GIRLS!  TYSON EHRENBERG IS FINALLY HOME!!!

UPDATE 4/4/10 - TODAY WE ARE CELEBRATING HERO DAY FOR GALI!!!  WE
ENDED UP TAKING IN A BRINDLE BOXER/JACK RUSSELL LITTLE GIRL FROM A
COLLEGE STUDENT AT SUNY GENESEO.  (WE WISH KIDS WOULD THINK TWICE
BEFORE GETTING DOGS THEY CAN'T TAKE CARE OF) OUR LITTLE GIRL IS 1YO
TODAY THANKS TO GALI.  CADET FELL INTO OUR POOL THE DAY WE OPENED
IT & GALI CAME TO THE BACK DOOR BARKING STRANGELY TO ALERT US.
CHRISTINE WENT OUT IN HER NIGHTIE (SANS UNDERPANTS) & FINALLY GOT
CADETY TO SWIM TO HER SO SHE COULD PULL HER OUT OF THE WATER.  IF IT
HADN'T BEEN SO SCAREY IT WOULD HAVE BEEN FUNNY WITH CHRISTINE
MOONING THE NEIGHBORHOOD.
OUR GALI GIRL SAVED THE DAY.  WHAT A WONDERFUL FAMILY MEMBER SHE
HAS BEEN FOR ALMOST 5 YEARS!  I STILL REMEMBER THE DAY I DROVE TO
ALBANY TO GET HER.  WHEN THE FOSTER FATHER SHOWED UP WITH HER HE
SAID HE WOULD HAVE TO LOAD HER AS SHE PROBABLY WOULDN'T WANT TO
LEAVE.  I OPENED THE BACK OF CHRISTINE'S VW BEETLE & GALI TOOK A
RUNNING LEAP AND LANDED IN THE FRONT SEAT.  GALI PUT HER HEAD IN MY
LAP & LAID THERE ALL THE WAY BACK TO GENESEO.
SINCE THE POOL INCIDENT GALI HAS TAKEN CADET UNDER HER WING & IS
CONSTANTLY SHOWING HER THE ROPES.  TODAY THEY BOTH GET A LITTLE
VANILLA ICE CREAM & SUGAR COOKIE WITH CRANBERRIES TO CELEBRATE
THEIR SPECIAL DAY.

UPDATE 8/11/05 - OUR GALI IS DOING EXTREMELY WELL. SHE REALLY LOVES
HER NEW HOME AND GETS ON HALF-WAY DECENTLY WITH BOBO, THE CAT.
SHE IS A DAILY TRAVELER, RIDING IN THE TRUCK WITH HER PAWS ON MY LEG
& HER HEAD ON HER PAWS. WE ARE TRAVELLING TO INDIANA IN A FEW DAYS
& WON'T BE BACK BY 8/26. GALI WILL BE GOING WITH US. HER HEALTH IS
EXCELLENT. HOWEVER, GALI CONTINUES TO BE OVERWEIGHT BY ABOUT 10-12
POUNDS. GALI IS EATING WEIGHT CONTROL FOOD & GETS NO TABLE SCRAPS.
SHE DOES CLEAN UP WHAT THE CAT DOESN'T EAT BUT THE CAT IS ON SENIOR
FOOD TOO. GALI DID SURF A CAKE OFF THE COUNTER 3 DAYS AGO. ALL SHE
ATE WAS THE FROSTING AND SHE WORE THE FROSTING PROUDLY FOR A DAY
OR TWO. WE HAVE DONE OUR OWN OBEDIENCE TRAINING . KEEPING HER
CALM WHEN PEOPLE ARRIVE AT THE HOUSE HAS BEEN A STRUGGLE BUT FOR
THE LAST DAY OR TWO SHE HAS BEEN RESPONDING TO 'CALM, CALM' VERY
WELL. GALI DIDN'T REQUIRE ANY OTHER TRAINING. WHAT A WONDERFUL
FAMILY MEMBER IS OUR GALI!!!

UPDATE 4/27/05 - HI, GALI SEEMS TO BE DOING WELL WITH ADJUSTMENT TO
HER HUMANS. HOWEVER, OUR CAT CUFFED HER IN THE FACE WHEN SHE
ARRIVED LAST EVENING. SINCE GALI IS AN ALPHA FEMALE SHE WAS NOT AT
ALL PLEASED WITH BOBO'S INSULT TO HER. AT 4 THIS MORNING SHE GOT ME
UP TO COME OUT TO THE LIVING ROOM WHERE SHE WAS GETTING READY TO
CLEAN BOBO'S CLOCK. DOES ANYONE HAVE AN IDEA HOW TO STOP THIS
MEXICAN STANDOFF? WE TRIED SPRAYING WATER IN GALI'S FACE TO
DISTRACT HER BUT IT DOESN'T WORK.

4/26/05 - Gali has been adopted!

2/4/05 - Gali has finally settled in to her foster home. She is getting along with all her foster boxer
brothers and sisters. She even has decided that the cats are ok. Gali likes her crate and will go in
for a nap on her own but is fine left unattended in the house. Gali enjoys her daily walks and
enjoys getting to go. She is being spay on Monday and brought up to date on all her shots. Gali
will then be ready for her forever home. Even though she is doing well with the other dogs, we feel
Gali would also be happy to be the princess and an only dog. Don't let her age fool you as she is
extremely active and playful. No one would believe that she is 8. Don't let this great dog slip away
get your apps in now.

12/29/04 - Gali is an 8 year old female about 70 lbs. She seems good with other dogs, she is very
enthusiastic towards cats. I picked her up last week at a local shelter, she was very sick with a
bad cold and pneumonia. She has responded very well with antibiotics. Today is the first day that
she was introduced to the other dogs in the house-so far so good.  She seems to be a good
natured dog. At the shelter they thought she may have been used as a puppy factory, now that she
is older, her usefullness is over with.  Make no mistake, she is not used up, she is a young looking
8 with very good energy!
