UPDATE 10/7/05 - Huck just passed into his sixth month of existence and he's doing great! He has grown to
about 30lbs and continues to get longer but not so much taller. He's in his 5th week of obedience training and
has been handling it like a pro. Aside from the tricks and commands he's learned, using a prong collar has
really helped improve walking him on his leash. He remains the most popular dog in the park to play with and
has plenty of friends. He continues to draw attention everywhere we go and even participated in a photo shoot
with models in NYC. People we meet are continually impressed with how well behaved he is for a puppy his
age. Must be the genes. Unfortunately for him, it's just about time to be fixed so we'll let you know next month
how he responds. It's only been 3 months, but it's hard to remember what life was like without him.

UPDATE 8/19/05 - After a little more than a month and a half, Huck has adapted very well to life in New Jersey.
He's recently been to the vet for his last booster and weighed in at 20lbs. He gets alot of exercise at a park close
to our house where there is an infinite supply of dogs for him to play with.
He's grown up so cute and has such a good personality he gets stopped everywhere we go. The entire
neighborhood seems to know his name, and he even has his own spot at the pub in the bottom of our building
(outside of course)
He loves the car and has already been to several states, including Atlantic city and New York. We've been looking
for the right obedience trainer but in the meantime, his housetraining is going well. He's developed a habit of
gently putting one of our fingers
in his mouth and leading us where he wants to go. Most of his baby teeth have fallen out so we look forward to
the next few months to see how much he grows and what other things he can get himself into.

UPDATE 7/17/05 - Well, it's been one week since we picked up Fudge from his wonderful foster family in Maine.
We had a seven hour drive home and Huck (that's his new name and he knows it well)was amazing! He slept in
our laps most of the ride - until he decided he was brave enough to jump into his crate in the backseat. He's
already been in 5 states - pretty well traveled for a 13 week old! He is adjusting very well to his new home and
other than the first night, he does really well in his crate. He loves to have his belly rubbed and all things stuffed.
We have a park right next to our place so every morning and night he gets to play with all the other dogs in the
neighborhood. He's slowly trying to establish that he's the 'king of the playground.' It's nice that he was around so
many other dogs at his foster home - he gets right in there and the bigger the dog the better. I think he's already
found a couple girlfriends. He comes to work with me every day so he gets a taste of big city life. All that exercise
has helped him put a little meat on those tiny bones and everyone says he's already grown! We'll find that out at
the vet this week and I'm anxious to see just how much. It's amazing how many times a day we get stopped to
hear how Huck is the cutest puppy ever (which we happen to agree with) and how well behaved he is. We start
training soon but in the meantime, he already knows 'no', 'leave it' 'sit' and that when he goes to the bathroom
outside he gets a treat. We are so lucky and grateful for Huck. He's made us so happy and we are thankful to
SCBR for bringing him into our lives!

7/9/05 - Fudge has been adopted!

6/5/05 - We are lucky enough to have another new guest here at the Thunder and Lightening Boxer Retreat. His
name is Fudge and he is a brother to our other foster Cinnamin. Fudge is also a Boxer/JRT mix he is 9 weeks
old and loves to play. He is Cinnamin play for hours then they curl up and fall asleep. He is a typical puppy who
is learning the rules of the house and what is expected of him. We just picked him up today so he is a little
unsure of things. He as you can tell from the pictures is about the same size as his sister but a lighter fawn
color. I think he will also be on the small side more like the size of his father. Fudge and Cinnamin will both go
the vets on Thursday to get their first shots and be checked over. If you think Fudge is the guy for you get that
application in quick he won't be in his foster home for long I'm sure. Just look at that face......More to come as we
get to know him.
