UPDATE 12/17/05 - Hi everyone! Cody has been with us a month now and its hard to remember what life was like
without him, he is such a perfect fit in our family.  He is an absolute love and spends as much time just being near
us as he possibly can, in fact he's up on my lap now as I'm writing this update.  He will snuggle for hours, and
literally has to be lifted off your lap when its time to get up he's so reluctant to move.  He's so calm and gentle and
good with the kids, and they have made him the center of our universe.  Cody responds VERY well to food rewards
and has added 'shake' and 'down' to his commands (foster Mom & Dad had already taught him 'sit').  Obedience
will be a piece of cake for this guy (we're just waiting until after the holidays to start classes), because he's already
responding to 'heel' on the leash.  Everyone who meets Cody falls in love with him.  He greets all who come to the
door with MANY kisses, his friendly brown eyes, and that great big helicopter tail of his, round and round in circles
it goes, just don't stand too close because its a lethal weapon!  Like most boxers he's a bit of a ham and loves to
get playful, he and my 5 yr old son run circles around the house.  Its awesome to watch him jump while he's
outside because he's like a gazelle.  The first time I saw him do it he was jumping across a little stream and he left
the ground about two feet before the stream, and touched down about two feet beyond it. It seemed like he was
airborne for an eternity.  Now that winter has settled in we don't get as much outside time, Cody doesn't seem to
mind because he's not overly fond of his jacket (I though it was pretty cool - fuzzy warm fleece, ahhhh very cozy.  Oh
well).  He keeps turning around and looking at himself like what in the world is this thing?
Cody has made one trip to the vet so far.  About a week after we picked him up he began having loose, bloody
stool.  He was diagnosed with whipworm (which takes 3 months to gestate so they figure he picked it up when he
was a stray), got some meds and was back in shape in a couple of days.  Since then all has been quiet.
We can't thank everyone at SCBR enough.  You are all angels and what you do for these dogs is amazing.  A
special thanks to Cody's foster Mom & Dad, I know you guys had a special bond and I promise you that he is so
VERY loved and spoiled here.  He is such a wonderful boy, we're so very grateful to everyone for all you have done,
and for bringing Cody into our lives.

11/19/05 - Cody has been adopted!

10/31/05 -Cody continues to be a perfect guest at the Boxer'In. He acts like he has been here forever. He is feeling
great and his infection under his jaw is all cleared up and staying away. We are thrilled about it. He is all healed up
from being neutered and he is just waiting to go to his forever home. He plays alot with the other residents here
and loves his fenced in yard. Today, he met a new foster that came to the Boxer'In and we introduced him last
thinking that he would take the most work. Well of course, he proved us wrong. He was great with Thurman and
had no issues with him. His favorite playmate continues to be Peaches. They are both young and they both play
until they need to take a power nap to get ready for the next round. Cody is a love bug and really is a very easy dog
to have in your home. He crates well and settles down quickly. He has learned to love his peanut butter filled
marrow bone. At first, he looked at us like we were nuts. He has no issues with his food bowl and is a good eater.
He was slow when he first arrived at eating but now he is waiting for that dish to hit his tall feeder. Every dog has
their own eating spot and he knows exactly where his is. We have a small parrot and Cody will go over to her cage
and bark at her but she has also learned to tease him so that she can get him close enough to bite his face. He
falls for it everytime. It is fun to watch and it is like a little game that they play. Cody has a funny little squeeky bark
much different than most dogs his size. Even our neighbors comment on it. They ask who is the dog with the girly
bark? I tell them don't say that, you'll hurt his feelings. Cody is a beautiful boxer boy who just happens to have a tail.
Some have asked if he is really a boxer and I have to say that I believe totally that he is all boxer, just a boxer with a
tail. He is one of the happiest fosters we have ever had. He has a great outlook on life and would be a great ad
dition to any family. He is just great with other dogs that like to play. If you are looking for a friendly dog who wants
to please, Cody is the boy for you. He would love to have a playmate.

10/16/05 - Cody has recovered nicely from his neuter, been brought up to date on his vaccinations and is now
ready for his new forever home.  He will make a great addition to any home.  He seems to be getting a little more
playful everyday.  I think he is finally feeling better from his infection that he had under his jaw.  He has a couple
more days of antibiotic  but we have seen great progress with the lump just being gone.  We will continue to watch
it but he is eating every meal now without hesitation.  He needs to eat every meal as he needs to put on a few
pounds.  He plays very nice with his foster brothers and sisters and and loves to have fun. When we go to bed he
comes up on the bed for a few minutrs but then gets down and finds a dog bed to sleep on.  He likes the dog beds
that he finds around the house.  You will often find him taking a nap on one.  Cody is crated when we are at work
and he has no problems with it.  He is even beginning to enjoy his peanut butter filled marrow bone.  Cody is very
patient when getting a treat as he waits his turn.  He will sit, come without hesitation.  We all think that he is just a
great dog and he certainly deserves a family that will love  him.  He gives alot of kisses and his tail never stops.
The other residents at the boxer'in have all learned to watch out for it.  He is such a happy guy and when you talk to
him it never stops.  You never have to guess on whether he is happy or not.  Cody would love to have another dog
in the household to have some fun with.  He loves to play now that he is feeling good.  He is anxiously waiting for
his new family.  Think about making him a big part of your family

10/01/05 Cody is doing great at his foster home.  He has met all his foster brothers and sisters, liking everyone.
He is beginning to play some boxer games and loves to play in the backyard.  Cody has been brought up to date
on his vaccinations and is scheduled to be neutered next Friday.  Cody also had a lump under his jaw and we
found out that it was an infection that the vet drained and he is on strong antibiotic to make him feel better.  I think
he feels better as he gets more active everyday.  He is eating twice a day, some kibbled food mixed with water
twice daily.  He also loves soft treats but will eat dog bones if nothing else is offered.  Cody has beautiful brown
eyes that just about melt your heart.  He meets new people very nicely.  He was good at the vets office, and they
made a big deal about him. He is great in his crate.  He doesn’t like peanut butter filled marrow bones so we
tried cheese and he still won’t try it.  He would rather just have a jerky treat.

Yesterday  the Boxer’In had some visitors who are doing a project to spread the word about SCBR in our area.
They wanted to meet my new foster and it was love at first sight for all them.  Debra took Cody for a little walk and
he was so good for her.  I was very surprised how gentle he was with all of them.  They brought all the residents of
our foster home a huge bag of stuffed animals, which have been a big hit with the dogs.  Debra wanted to make
sure that they all had special stuffed animal and picked out a special one for her favorite dogs.  I love to listen to
Debra with the dogs.  She never stops talking to them and they all love her for her caring ways.  There is no doubt
in my mind that Cody would be a great addition to any family.  He will be ready to go soon so think about making
him yours.  He is a wonderful boxer boy.

9/24/05 - Cody is the newest guest at the Boxer'In on the lake.  Cody was a stray and came from a shelter after
spending almost a month there.  He would like to thank his transporter, Jeri for helping him get to his foster home.
He liked her very much and she was as always, very kind to him.  I am guessing at his age but I think he is
probably around 2 years old.  He is a very nice looking fawn boy, with a splash of white on his nose, white chest, 4
white paws and as an extra bonus he has a long tail.  Long tail you ask?  Well, let me tell you I cannot believe that
our military forces haven't picked this guy up because he not only wags his tail but he twirls it in a circle like a blade
on a helicopter because he is so darn happy to be at his foster home.  He is already bonding with his foster dad
as they are both asleep on the kitchen floor.  Cody made out the best as he is on a dog bed but his foster dad is
right next to him on the floor.

Cody will need a trip to the vet to get heartworm tested and have a lump looked at under his jaw.  He will also need
to be neutered.  He received his other vaccinations at the shelter.  He just picked at his supper tonight but probably
by tomorrow, he will settle down and start eating.  Cody is a good size boxer and weighs around 60 pounds.  Cody
has only met his foster brothers and sisters through a gate and introductions will be slow just to give him a chance
to adjust to being here and to feel good about himself before he has to deal with the others.  I will update him
again soon as I get to know him.  One thing I know already is that he loves people as he met everyone so far just
beautifully.  Check back soon because this one is very special.
