UPDATE 9/29/05 - We think that Clyde has adjusted to us very well. As Shirley, his foster mom, had
stated he bonds very intensly. We just love him to death. He has such cute expressions and just loves to
chase that ball. The only problems we have had with Clyde is of course his aggresive behavior and the
fact that he tried to eat our cat. Unfortunately for the cat she is tramatized by the incident and won't
come in the house. The only way that she will come in is if we catch her and bring her in, which is
becoming incredibly difficult. His reaction to the cat does concern us as we were told that he was cat
friendly. We are hoping that with time this situation will get better but it is getting colder outside and we
are concerned about the cat.
Clyde started obedience classes Monday and we're hoping that it helps. The trainer said that she thinks
he will come around just fine. She has given us some exercises to do with him and has him on a different
plan than the rest of the dogs. We are doing the clicker, gentle lead type training and Clyde catchs on
very quickly. He is an incredibly smart dog. We think that some of his problems are that he wasn't
properly socialized as a pup and becomes overwhelmed by it.
This dogs most favorite things in life are us, his ball and riding in the car. He is great in the car. He seems
to think that the front seat is for him and that the passenger should sit in the back it's really funny to see
him do this. Overall, Clyde is really a great dog and just needs some behavior training. We just love him
and are so gratefull to have him in our lives. Now if the cat could just see it that way it would be great.

8/27/05 - Clyde has been adopted!

07/20/05 - Clyde is so sweet and smart. I'm convinced he could be trained to do just about anything
with some practice since he's very obedient and is especially intelligent. If your household isn't the
high-activity type and you don't have lots of people coming and going, then this loyal and protective boy
will make you so happy with his endearing ways, cute quirks (like his extra long tongue that sticks out
sometimes & adorable, expressive, curly ears) and happy disposition. He bonds very intensely and will
protect you from anyone who comes to the house or approaches you, but he is also very well behaved.
He chased after a ground hog today and came right back when I called him. He seems to really enjoy
the country and very much wants to be with his pack!

Even though introductions were rough at first and took a few days (he and Max are very much alike!) he
now plays with the other dogs very well. Clyde really seems to like the company of other dogs, just has
to put on a show during introductions. He likes snuggling up near one of the other dogs, and I have seen
him use my Boston Terrier as a head rest! He and Max play lots of chewy face and can get rough, but
it's all good spirited. Max was sick and threw up a couple of days ago, and Clyde and my Flash both
followed him around and seemed to be trying to protect him and make sure he was ok. It was
absolutely the sweetest thing.

Clyde is a constant companion and always likes to be near us, but will go into his crate without a fuss
and is quiet in there - no separation anxiety here. If you can provide a household for him where all
members will  consistently show strong leadership and can appreciate his protective nature, then you
could not ask for a better dog. He is so much fun to be around, always has a kiss, loves to play and is a
great snuggler! Don't miss out on this wonderful boy!

07/05/05 - Clyde continues to do well in his foster home. If you have a household that is somewhat low
in activity/people coming and going and can provide consistent, firm leadership, then look no further for
a wonderful dog. Clyde is full of personality and cute little quirks. His tongue is very long and often
sticks out a little bit, which is absolutely adorable! He very much wants to be involved with his people
and likes to stay close. He is very obedient and usually does what I ask very willingly. He would
probably do best in a home where he isn't left alone for long periods everyday. He does NOT have
separation anxiety, but he gets very attached to his people and a bit nervous if he doesn't know where
you are or what you're doing. He doesn't need constant companionship and is excellent in the crate, but
probably wouldn't do well if he were alone a lot. He is also very smart - if we are outside (we have quite
a few acres) and I say to him "Where is Max? Go find Max" then he will run off and look for Max. If I
ask "Where is your ball?" he knows what I am talking about. One night he was woo-wooing at my mom
so she showed him a cup of food, thinking he wanted to eat, and he turned up his nose at that, but then
put his nose on the empty cup next to it, so she realized he wanted water! He's playful and able to
amuse himself, perfect in the crate and always has kisses to give out, so what are you waiting for? Get
your app in on this great guy and enjoy a fun, easy going lovebug!

06/28/05 Handsome Clyde is settling in very nicely. He's less stressed out, getting his appetite back and
after a few unsuccessful introductions, I can have him out with my other dogs and they are doing fine.
Clyde wasn't the only instigator in the squabbles with the other dogs since my Max is a bit territorial and
possesive of "mom" too, I keep them separate for feeding, but everybody slept together last night with
no issues. I am expecting some normal pack order squabbles in the future, but it's clear that Clyde is fine
with other dogs as long as it's done with baby steps. I have no idea how he would be with cats as I
don't have any.

Clyde is perfect in the crate - no complaining and will now go right in when I say "crate" although he
didn't for the first couple of days and needed encouraging. He's very good on a leash, doesn't seem
interested in anything inappropriate in the house and he is very affectionate and loving. He bonds very
quickly and really likes to play ball. It's really cute to watch him nose the ball around and play with it. He
likes to bring it to me and will usually let me take the ball and throw it for him. He very much likes to be
near his people. If I am working in the yard and put him on the trolley, he'll cry a little if he can't see me.
If he's alone, he won't play much. He really loves companionship and listens very well.

Clyde needs strong leadership and consistent training in a home where all household members will not
let him get away with some of his dominance games. He is more relaxed when he knows you are in
charge and he doesn't have to be on guard so much. He's a great watchdog! If he's in the car and
someone approaches he barks and lets them know not to mess around. He seems to have some
fear-based issues with men, but not all of them. A friend of mine came over and Clyde was inside the
house with my 80 year old mother and he was calm and didn't even bark at Karl when he came up on
the porch! Was it because Karl was wearing a hat? Has a moustache & beard? Smelled like other
animals? He had just been at his sister's exotic animal rescue site where she has bears and mountain
lions an more so maybe the fact that he smelled like wild beasts made him happy! Who knows! He
listens to me when I correct his behavior and is very comfortab;e with having me as the leader. Clyde is
a real catch for people who will work on his dominance and fear issues, and people who don't have tons
of people coming and going in a busy household. He would be great in the country or a quiet
neighborhood. If he suits your lifestyle, you will be rewarded with kisses from a very sweet and well
behaved, obedient boy who will make you smile and laugh. He's a very special guy!

06/24/05 - Poor Clyde has been returned to rescue through no real fault of his own. He is a bit
protective of his home (inside the house & when fenced) and his owners were not comfortable with it.
He growled at a neighbor through the fence regularly and when he was left alone in a hall (not a good
idea for any dog) and a tenant came in through the hall, but hey, he's just doing his job, right? So Clyde
probably would do best in a home without tons of activity and people coming and going a lot. He's
probably not an apartment/condo dog, but is very friendly and seems to really like people and giving
kisses! His protective nature is either an asset or liability depending upon your lifestyle and household
activity level. Like all dogs, he just needs to know that he doesn't have to be head of security so he can
relax and leave the protecting up to you.  He's very sweet, knows a lot of commands, has a happy
disposition and is absolutely adorable! He's soft, snuggly and is said to be great with kids. He loved
riding in the Jeep (with top down & windows out) and was a great passenger. We went through Tim
Hortons and he was comfortable with the drive-through and very alertly watched everyone as they
commented on what a handsome boy he is. He didn't try to make a move on my bagel at all! He was
also fine when I pulled into the driveway and talked to my neighbor from the Jeep who was walking her
dog - no issues at all. Get your apps in fast as I am sure he won't be around long. He's a very special
guy who will bring a lot of happiness and security to the right family!

UPDATE 6/1/05 - Well, Well It has been 5 months since we have adopted Clyde. He is still doing
great with us. He has some issues of being to protective but we have learned ways of avoiding
problems. He is having so much fun here. He still sleeps with the kids. Now that warm weather has hit,
Clyde is enjoying himself outside. He's been catching the frisbee, playing ball, and trying to eat the water
coming out of the hose.

UPDATE 5/4/05 - Well Well It has been 3 months since we have first adopted Clyde. Clyde is still
doing great. He is very loving to the people he knows. However if he doesn't know you, your not
coming near my house. At first this worried me, but after talking to a trainner at the vet office we are
working on this issue. We went away for the weekend and left Clyde with my child's babysitter who he
adores. he missed the kids very bad. He wouldn't eat and kept running into the kids bedroom looking
for them. Clyde was entered into the cutest Boxer contest by another rescue organization, but he didn't
win. He still looked cute though.

UPDATE
3/1/05 - Clyde is doing great! He is an excellent addition to our family. Even though we have
had him for a month we have so much love to give him as he does to us. It didn't take long for Clyde to
get use to his new environment. He used to sleep in bed with me and my husband, but he took up to
much of the bed. So now he sleeps in bed with my kids. The kids love him in there because they feel
protected and he loves being with them. He doesn't like to be alone. Where ever we are he is right there
with us. He is really good with going to the bathroom outside. If he has to go he'll come up to me and
start howling or he'll nibble on my hand (he's soo cute when he does this). He loves to play with
squeaky toys. He can amuse himself with these toys for a long time. He'll roll the ball with his nose,
catch it, then roll it again, then catch, and he'll keep doing it. We laugh so hard at him. Whenever a new
person comes over Clyde likes to hump them, so were are trying to correct him of this. My kids which
are 3 and 6 think that he is hugging the people and think he is funny when he does this. My 3 year old
Brooklyn will lay on top of Clyde while he is laying on the floor and just lays there and licks her. When
we walk Clyde he has to be the leader. If the kids try to run in front of him he'll knock them down by
pressing his chest up against them. So now this is a game that the kids will play with him. Well I could
keep going on about what a great dog he is. So thank you very much for letting us adopt him.

1/28/05 - Clyde was adopted!

01-24-05 Clyde is my special little man today, I'm home from work battling a stomach virus and Clyde
has been by my side all day. He's been keeping me warm by laying on my feet on the couch, and has
been very protective towards me. My Jasmine dosen't seem to understand that I'm home to rest not
play tug-o-war all day. Clyde got off the couch and stood next to me so that Jasmine couldn't reach
me... lol... She was a little upset but I was happy, seems like everytime I dozed off Jasmine would jump
up on me and wake me up! Not with Clyde standing there, he was such a good boy!
Clyde has been so good that we've been letting them sleep in our room at night. We brought up Clyde's
bed and he just lays there all night without a peep! Sometimes I wake up to check on him since he's so
quiet.  He and Jasmine are getting along better, he still doesn't allow her to play as much as she would
like, but he entertains her for a few moments each day. Clyde went and saw the vet on saturday and got
a clean bill of health except for some broken teeth, the vet couldn't tell whether they were old injuries or
new... They were just a little sensative for him. We are trying to help him eat a little better, Clyde doesn't
understand the concept of chewing his food... He literally gathers it on his tongue and swallows it. The
vet isn't too concerned but says to keep an eye on him in case he ever chokes or something. Other than
that Clyde's doing great! He's settled in nicely and ready to find his forver family!

1/20/05 - We've had Clyde now for a couple days and just think the world of him! His mannerisms
towards Jasmine have improved so much that they now love playing tug o-war with each other... the
poor toys don't have a chance! Although Clyde loves the interaction with another dog, he doesn't tend
to be as playful as most Boxers. He doesn't like how bouncy Jasmine is, he looses his patience with her
when she starts boxer burning around the living room but is quick to snuggle up to her and give her
kisses after she stops running around. I just think this guy is a snuggler and not a feisty player.  We've
learned that Clyde is a "talker". I asked him how his day was yesterday and he just had a ball telling me!
He was talking away with tons of "woowoo and woohoo" and didn't let up until I was doubled over
laughing so hard, I have never heard a dog carry on trying to tell me things. Its really cute, especially
when Jasmine tries to start in with the woowoo's and Clyde just gets louder to drown her out!! He's the
cutest! His homesickness has all been forgotten... He has slept through the night without a peep since the
second night he was with us and has no problems about being in his crate during the day. He's not a big
treat eater and doesn't even particular enjoy peanut butter which was a shock to me! I took to adding
plain yogurt to his food since he wasn't eating very well and now can't get enough of it! I'll have to take a
picture of their yogurt mustaches!! Another wonderful surprise with this guy is that he walks better than
any boxer I've met... I took him to PetSmart with me last night and was blown away with his manners!
He let everyone come pet him, gave out a few kisses, sniffed a few spots and that was that. He
waited quietly as I picked out our supplies and never pulled or whined at all. He got a ton of belly rubs
and kisses for that!! Clyde is an absolutely wonderful Boxer, I know he's going to be a wonderful
addition to someone's home.

01/17/05 Clyde arrived last night thanks to a wonderful transport team! Clyde is a handsome man with
cute bent ears, and the fastest wagging tail I've ever seen! He is very friendly and loves to pass out
kisses to anyone that will get their face close enough. I think Clyde is suffering from a pretty bad case of
home sickness, he's had a long weekend of transports and meeting different volunteers so I can't even
imagine how confused this poor guy is. His history includes living with another female boxer and being
great around children which I can believe, he's very calm and easy going. He hasn't warmed up to my
Jasmine yet, but she just wants to play and Clyde's not settled enough to entertain her yet... I know he'll
settle in soon though!

Clyde's has obviously had obedience training in his past, he knows commands like "come", "Sit", He's
housebroken, crate trained and walks very nicely on a leash. I'm not sure about "Lay Down" I think he
was worried that Jasmine would pounce on him if he let his guard down so I'll update on that later when
Clyde's realizes that Jazzy just wants to sniff. He's happy to just lay at your feet and will only climb up in
the couch when really coaxed! He goes into his crate when told "crate", just like my boxer... Its funny
you say crate and they both walk right into their respected crate, It's nice after having a previous foster
that hated her crate!

Clyde was up a few times last night crying, but I think again its just because he's home sick and
confused. The poor guy needs to relax and get acquainted with his new surroundings. We've only had
Clyde since last night and already I have been able to learn a lot about him, he's a wonderful guy and I
know he'll find a wonderful home fast! Get your applications in quick if you want a loving, calm, trained,
handsome Boxer named Clyde!! This guy is a catch!!
