5/6/06 - Cleo was surrendered back to rescue today to find a more suitable home.  Here is some
info from her last owner:        4/27/06 -  I really don't know what to say, except that my husband
is at wits ends with our little cleo.  So I will write this note below from the dog's perspective so it's
not soo personal.  I'm sorry but the dog is not working out I love her dearly, but can't keep up
with the high maintenance.  I don't think her behavior could change with any sort of obedience
training because for training to be successful you must commit yourself to spending hours to
training.  And the top trainer around said evern the best training would not overcome the
separation anxiety this dog has. My husband is fed up with the damage in the yard and overall
behavior problems .  I can't do it alone especially with us moving.  I hope you can use all of this
information and find her a new home.  You said the previous owners had a problem with her
running away. I'm quite sure they  lied. This dog is attached at  the hip.  She needs a disiplinarian
who can spend time changing the bad behaviors... ie digging jumping and scratching at house.
Most of all, the stomach problems. My gut tells me she has bloat.  She eats so fast and licks the
bowl clean.  You are the expert. The dog is still real thin. So regardless, of her weight please be
advised the dog eats plenty.  She can't tolerate many scraps or the runs start again.  With that
being said. All I need is that contact information we talked
about last time.  I really hope you can find her a good home as she was treated with care and
love here.

"My name is Cleo.  I despise the crate and drool endlessly every time I'm put in it.  No matter how
often or how long I just feel anxious and pant and pant until I'm let out.  When I am let out i am never
allowed in the house because I'm all wet from head to toe and must be dried with a towel and let
outside to dry off.

I am very friendly and love people and children. I don't lick. Instead I carry a toy around in my mouth.
I am pretty passive for a boxer and do listen pretty well. If given the opportunity to run away I might
run around the block but come right back home and will do almost anything to get back into the house.

I love to play fetch and go for walks in the park. I get this sort of attention daily. I sit and will come if
talked to gently.
For some reason I just love to dig. It's my favorite pass time regardless of how hard I am exercised.

As far as eating goes...my stomach always feel hungry.  I eat six cups of dog food a day and my
stomach is still growling for more.  I have frequent gas and average 5-6 bowel movements a day which
are soft not formed.
Although my owners tried different specialty foods nothing seems to do my belly good.  Lately I eat
grass and have diareah.  I am loved, but can't understand why everyone seems so angry with me.  I
am only a dog seeking
attention and love.  I think I would thrive with an owner who lived at the beach so I could dig all day
long.  Perhaps in the company of another pooch so I could be distracted from my bad habits."

9/26/05 -  Cleo is slowly adjusting to her new home.  Her biggest challenging is getting used to
being the only dog.  At first I thought it was our home, but now it is quite obvious she is just plain
lonely without the other dogs.

Our new dog Cleo is quite a character.  She never sits still and is always on the go.  Boy can she
bark! She will bark and chase anything that passes or flies through our yard...people, birds and
cats.  She is fast as lightening and is incapable of being caught.  I have found excessive babytalk
helps to reel her in/come command.

I called you because she was having behavior issues.  She growled at me and a neighbor.  This
had me worried.  Fortunately it only lasted a couple of days.  I hope she was just very nervous at
the time.  Since then she has come around.  I have tried my best to treat her with kindness but
boy does she try my patience!  Digging holes in the ground, and jumping jumping jumping.  My
husband's firmness has really made more of the difference.

I was puzzled at first why Cleo seemed so mellow at her foster home and so out of control here.
Our house is quite crazy I just hope she will settle down a bit.  I play with her on average 2 hours
a day plus a daily walk with heel and other commands.  Why is it that she could rest at her foster
home and not bark or jump and now do a 180?  Is it fair to say this will be the real Cleo or will she
tame it down a bit?

Lastly, the biggest problem...her stomach.  She is eating everything we give her. Nutro dog food
and sensitive stomach treats.  Nothing is staying in her.  Joanna said to wait a week to see if she
improved.  Her movements
are mushy/liquidy and smelly. She has @5 bm's a day. What is going on?  She also has a lot of
gas.  We are not giving her table food, I have however been giving her peanut butter kongs to
put weight on her.  Could peanut butter gi ve her stomach upset? Or is it just her new faster
paced day?  Please let me know if I should take her to a vet or just start eliminating all peanut
butter from her diet (I will start today).

Lastly, Cleo had a visitor the other day. A 6 month old boy boxer and boy did they play hard.  She
really marked her territory. Fair to say this is no push over type of girl she really put that boy in his
place.  I will say they played wildly  for hours and did not stop from 9-11 am. They  would take
some time here and there to clean each other's faces and drink water together. very cute. This
was the highlight of Cleo's week.  My mother inlaw's dog is in for a rude awakening. That will be
another great obstacle to face when the time comes. I'm sure I'll be writing to scbr.

9/15/05 - Cleo was adopted!

8/23/05 - Cleo was surrendered to a local shelter. The shelter called us for help and with the
help of www.bonesbeagles.org we were able to get her right into rescue. Cleo is a doll, cute as a
button and sweet as can be. She has met the kids and a couple of the dogs, all of which she
loved. Cleo is completely cratetrained and has had no accidents in the house. Cleo listens well
and is a wonderful dog that listens well for only being a puppy. Her old owners said that she
would run away if given the chance, she has not gotten loose here but needs a home that can
keep her safe. This cute little girl will not be around long. She is one sweet girl. We will update
you soon.
