UPDATE 6/1/05 - Chakito has been with us for 2 months now, and has slowly taken control of just
about everything. Chakito and our 6 year old son, Nathaniel are hte best of friends. Nate tells everyone
that Chakito is his dog, not our dog. He is quite the bed hog, and will sleep on your legs if he feels that
they are in his area of the bed. he is up to about 2 dozen toys now, but his favorite is this stuffed hedge
hog that has a squeeker in it. He will walk around with this thing in his mouth just sqeeking away until
someone takes it away. We sarted him in basic obedience training, but the instructor felt he would
benefit more from intermediate traingin class rather than basic. The instructor said Chakito already knew
everything being taught in this class, so we are waiting for the intermediate class to start this summer for
him. He's just way too SMART !!!! Chakito got to go to the Paradise Pet Resort this weekend for his
first experience with boarding. Let's just say, he was quite glad to get home. He has been sleeping for
almost 2 days. I don't think he got much sleep while he was at camp !!!! We will send some pictures
soon !!!

UPDATE 4/11/05 - Chakito here giving you an update on the new homefront. Settling in just fine. I
have two brothers, Floyd & Duce. They were a little reluctant on having me around for the first week or
so, but everything is OK now. There's 3 kids in the house that keep me busy all the time. The youngest,
Nate, will play ball with me for hours and hours at a time. That's just GREAT !!! I already have
accumulated more than a dozen toys. Mom keeps putting them in this basket, just so I can take them
out and put them all over the house. Then she puts them back in again !!! It's so fun !!! I had my stitches
removed, and received my heartworm medication. I just love my new doctor. I start obedience training
on April 23rd. I've been pretty good, but I have this thing for anybody coming to the front door, so Dad
thinks we need to fix this before I get too rough with somebody. Oh yeah, I get to go for rides just
about everyday, and get to go for walks 3 to 4 times a day. What a life !!!! Well, Signing off for now !!!
I check back

3/11/05 - Chakito has been adopted!

3-7-05 – HI!!  It’s me again.  I decided since the computer didn’t fit well in my old crate I
would move to a bigger one so I could send in an update.  I just wanted my new family to know that I
am still here anxiously waiting for them to come get me.  My foster mom says she will miss me a lot and
if they want to change their mind that is okay I am welcome to stay on here as long as I want to.  I went
last week to be neutered and have that undescended testicle fixed.  I am heartworm negative and got all
caught up on all my yearly shots.  They gave me a nice shiny new tag for my new collar my foster mom
says I will be getting soon.  I’m being a real good boy about not running around too much while the
stitches are still there.  She says they will come out when I get to my new forever home.  It is really hard
because I just love to play.  My foster mom says I’m being very good though.  I am very anxious to
go for my long car ride to my new forever home to meet my two brothers.  I love car rides.  I am soooo
happy I will have somebody to play with.  Last night I was playing with my foster cat brother Gus.  I
have to be careful because I’m much bigger than he is.  Sometimes it is hard to remember that I am
bigger than most of my new friends.  My foster brother Bailey hasn’t been feeling that great lately so
I have been giving him lots of kisses to make him feel better.  I have been practicing sitting without
wiggling so I can get lots of hugs and kisses.  My foster mom says I’m becoming a real expert at it.
My foster mom is amazed at how well I meet others.  Last week before I went to the vet we took a
walk down to the lake across the way.  I got to run all around the field that is over there.  It was a lot of
fun.  I walked really well on my leash, then when we got to the field and I got to just race across it
without my lease.  I’m fast.  I did go a little too far and my foster mom had to call to me, but I was a
good boy and came right back.  I eat more than my foster brother Bailey.  I like to have breakfast and
then my supper at the end of the day. They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and
I think I heard somewhere that big boxer boys should have a lot of cheese.   I take my medicine pretty
good.  I know if I hold out and not just swallow it down my foster mom will give it to me in a little bit of
cheese and I just LOVE cheese.  We also got a new bone that can be stuffed and I like that a lot too.
My preference is the round Kong with cheese stuffed in the sides.  I love to bounce it around and go
catch it.  If you throw a toy I will go get it for you and “leave itâ€ when you tell me to because then
I know you can throw it again so I can chase after it.  Sometimes we have a snack with peanut butter
and that is really good too!  A big boy like me needs lots and lots of yummy treats to remind me that Iâ
€™m doing everything right.  I’m full every night so I guess I’m doing something right.  This
rescue stuff is a piece of cake.  So far it is just great!  I am just sooooo….  Excited to go for my long
car ride.  See you soon!

2-23-05 – HI!!  Chakito here!  Sorry I didn’t send a note yesterday but I’ve been having
trouble getting the computer to fit in my new crate.  I’m a slight bit larger than its last occupant.  I
finally managed it though.  I’m a very smart boy.  Other things that I can do is sit, down, crate,
speak, bow, stay and if I really like you I can do a little “danceâ€ for you.  Watch out though,
being as big as I am when you ask me to “dance I sometimes have a hard time knowing where
my paws end and my foster moms head begins  OUCH!  My new foster mom let me know all about
SCBR on our way here and what I was to expect to happen in the short-term as well as long-term.  She
said I would be staying with her for the very short-term and then one of you folks would be calling soon
and I would go live with you forever.  Sounds great!  I am particularly (see how smart I am, I know all
the big words) anyways I am particularly interested in a forever home that has another boxer.  Cats are
okay too, but I would be happiest with another boxer because I just love to do the boxer bump and
race around the yard with somebody who can keep up and, if I may say so myself, I’m a pretty
good boxer.  It helps me to get out all that energy that us 3 year olds seem to have.  I also enjoy BIG
rawhide bones.  I’m almost done with the one I have now.  I also like stuffed toys that sqeak and
would enjoy a good game of tug with you.  I am very friendly towards other animals and meet them
quite well.  I do sometimes jump up, when people come by but am quick to correct that if you remind
me.  I like to give out a few barks and howls when somebody comes to your door just to make sure
you hear them.  Who knows, maybe they have a boxer friend who would be interested in a great game
of boxer bump.  My motto is the more the merrier.  My foster mom says that all that is left to do right
now is I have to go to the vet to make sure I’m all up-to-date and get neutered, then I will be ready
to go forward into my new happy life.  I would be okay if you left me home in a crate if you really feel
the need to go to work each day.  I would request you maybe leave me a Kong or something to help
keep me stay occupied while your gone.  I really would prefer it if you had another dog though because
it is hard to be such a good boy if I don’t get some play time.  Well, I have a a lot of chewing left to
do on my bone so I’ll get back to you later.  Guess I will be going to the vet next week, so best you
get your name on the list soon.  I’ll be here waiting for your call.

2-22-05 – CHA-KI-TO (rhymes with Mesquito) we were told is Spanish meaning “little
boy.  Yeah right!  He is not a “littleâ€ guy as I would guess 80 pounds or better of all muscle.  I
picked up this gentle giant Monday during a snow storm in CT.  It was said he originally came from a
breeder in NH.  So back to NH because his owners, after having a baby, really did not have enough
time to spend with him anymore and thought it would be in his best interest.  It seems obvious that
somebody spent a lot of time with him in his past.  They will miss him a lot.  He seemed to come from a
nice family.  I want to get to know this “littleâ€ guy better.  He will need to go to be neutered.  The
only problem so far that I can see is that he has an undescended testicle so his neuter will take a little
longer than most.  I am hoping to get more info on him from his previous vet.  He seems very friendly
and has lots of wiggles.  He took to my boxer bum immediately and LOVES to do the boxer bump in
the backyard and run around in the snow.  Everything is still new to him but he seems to be adjusting
very nicely.  He seems to be protective, we will see how he comes to be with a little more time. Pictures
to come soon!
