6/9/05 - Brandy is on Evaluation Hold and not available for adoption right now.  She has been showing some unpredictable aggression issues toward other dogs and people.  .

05/31/05 -  Brandy is doing fine at her foster home. She is now enjoying all of her foster brothers and sisters including our other foster girl. I have even seen both girls playing. Our puppy Peaches continues to be her favorite and when Peaches plays with our other foster Sadie, she will bark at them because she is jealous. She is very dedicated to us and will work hard to please once she understands what we expect out of her. She continues to keep us informed of activity outside our home and continues to worry about things. We speak to her and she will stop. One of Brandy's best obedience commands that she does well is coming. Once you call her name, you want to have the door open because she is coming as fast as she can. She is a great eater and has no issues with food at all. She eats twice daily just some good quality dry food mixed with warm water.

She continues to be crated while we are at work and loves getting a filled peanut butter marrow bone to pass the time. She is very good in her crate and doesn't make a sound except when she knows you are home and wants out of that cage. We have a fenced in yard and she does well out there as it gives her a chance to burn up some energy that she does have. Brandy needs a home that will continue to work on behavior and obedience with her. She needs to be reminded that she is not in control and that you have a handle on everything. She just needs someone to be her boss which isn't such a bad thing. Brandy has at some point in her life been heavy handed and once she knows that she has done something wrong, she will just crawl on the floor. Sad as that is, she needs patience and constant reassurance. She is such a sweet girl and loves to kiss her foster parents and she also takes very good care of the grooming of her foster brothers and sisters. It is cute to watch. Some nights, she works very hard. Brandy will be some work but I do believe that all the effort will be worth everything. She wants a her own family that she is so deserving of. She is beautiful and will win your heart if you just give her a chance.

4/18/05 - Brandy has made her way back to the Boxer'In on the Lake as her placement didn't work out for her. They loved her but found some behaviors unacceptable in their home. Brandy is busy and we will work with her on some of her issues. She misbehaved while on a leash so we will be working with her on a leash and a gentle leader should help greatly. Brandy continues to be a love bug with her family and came back in and met all 6 of her foster brothers and sisters with no problems. She is a happy little girl and in a matter of minutes, she was in our fenced backyard playing like she hadn't missed a minute. Our puppy Peaches could hardly believe her eyes once she realized that it was Brandy. Both of them do not get too far from each other. Brandy loves her kibbled food and is always right there for mealtimes. She continues to have no food aggression at all.

Brandy is a typical teenager and if you give her an inch, she will take a yard. She needs constant reminders of what is acceptable and was is not. She is happy to cooperate once she knows what is allowed. She has a high prey drive and does a lot of worrying when things do not seem right to her. I have kept on her all day today and she is handling things pretty well. She does grump a little bit but once she knows you are in control, then she seems to relax. Brandy would like a quiet home where she can just enjoy life and a fenced in yard would give her a space where she can burn off some of her energy. We expect Brandy to come along nicely while here at her foster home. She will always need her family to be in charge and with some help, she will become like one of your family. A more dedicated dog you couldn't find.

4/1/05 - Brandy was adopted!

3/8/05 - Brandy continues to do well here at her foster home.  She has gained some much needed weight and you can just tell by her actions that she is feeling so much better about herself.  She loves
everyone that she meets and we are working on her greetings as people come through the door.  She is sure that they are coming to see her and she certainly wants to make them feel welcome.  We are working on trying to be a little calmer when we have company.  Brandy is enjoying all of her boxer foster brothers and sisters.  She very often can be found snuggling with another dog on a dog bed.  She plays with toys now and is not crated when we are not at home and she is a good girl.  No accidents or no bad behavior.
When Brandy came into rescue, she was very thin and I believe that she was not getting fed regular meals on a schedule.  She has no food or dog treat aggression and will wait very patiently for her turn to receive a treat but she is a little possesive of people food.  So we are being careful with what we are offering and she has no problem with it.  I think it could be just some extra baggage from when she had been hungry in her past life.  She loves to snuggle and sleeps on a dog bed on the floor of our bedroom and is perfect.  Brandy wants to please and I do belive that she will make a wonderful addition to a family that will make her a big part of their life. She loves people and will become very attached to her family.  We are hoping that she will be adopted soon because she has done so well here and would like to see her go before she gets anymore attached to us here.  She is such a nice size boxer girl and has alot of spunk for life which it seems like
alot of these smaller boxers have.  We love her and know that you would fall in love with her too.  She is easy to love. She fits in so well here that we  almost forget she is here.  She just goes with the flow of the household.

2/23/05 - Brandy was spayed last week and she is doing great.  She was a little quiet but now she is back to her same old self.  She is eating great and is eating kibbled mixed with a little warm water twice daily.  She fits in just perfectly with her foster brothers andsisters.  She is especially good with our puppy Peaches.  She loves to play with her and also keeps very good tabs on her.  If I pick Peaches up, she rushs to me to make sure she is okay.  I think it is the motherhood instinct in her that shows when she is concerned.  She has even begun to play with a few toys.  She decided late last week that she had enough of being crated during the day.  One day when her foster dad came home from work, she  had been working on getting out of her crate.  If she would have had a little more time, we think she would have been successful at it. She had even worked at getting the plastic ties off of the corners of the crate  and had gotten of few off.  She must have been very busy.  So, we reinforced it again for the next day and again she worked on it.  It is very common for these dogs to work on a crate especially if they received some results while they were working on it.  So, we decided to give her a chance to be free while we are gone and she has been perfect. No problems at all. I think she will do fine just being left in the house.  Brandy looks so much better than when she came in and has gained some much needed weight.  She loves to get attention and she is just a cute little girl.  She will warn you when someone or something is worrying her outside but will quiet down when you tell her it is okay.  She gets so excited when you come home and she will actually cry with excitment. Brandy will become a very devoted dog to her new family.  She is so deserving of this second chance that we have given her.  I keep telling her that her new family will be calling soon. Please don't disappoint her and keep her waiting.  She just can't wait to meet you.

2/13/05 - Brandy has just become a real sweetheart at her foster home.  She gets along great with everyone of the residents here.  She likes to play with some of the dogs here especially her new friend Peaches.  She is eating great and now weighs 46 pounds, but she could use some more weight which will come as she gets more settled. She is a good eater and finishes every morsel.  She is crated during the work day and will now go right in the crate for her favorite- a peanut butter filled marrow bone.  She really enjoys them and can't wait til it is time for us to go to work. She is sleeping in our bedroom and will come up for a short while on the bed, then gets down to sleep on one of the dog beds.

She went to the vets on Saturday and was brought up to date on all her vaccinations and tested for heartworm which was negative.  She will be getting spayed on Monday morning and will be back here at her foster home on Tuesday.  She will be already for her new home and she has told me that she can't wait. She likes it here but there is nothing like home sweet home.  She knows a few basic obedience commands and will come in from the back fenced in area in seconds, once she hears you call her.  She stays pretty close to one of us when we go out in the back yard. I think she is afraid that we will disappear on her.

Brandy has been giving our other foster a hard time as she doesn't want him to gain a position on her in the pack but I can see that she is starting to soften and will be his friend before long. She just discovered that we have a small bird in a cage right next to her and have had to tell her to leave it, which she does. Brandy will let you know when there is something going on outside and I have to tell her that it's okay and she will then relax and not worry.  Brandy will become very devoted to her new family and a better friend you couldn't find.  She is going to do great in her new home.  I just love these smaller boxers as they are so spunky and full of life.  She did live with children in her previous home so if you have children, she might be the dog for you.

2/6/05 - Brandy had a great first night at her foster home. She crated really well and was as quiet as a mouse. She slept all night and is feeling much more confident so far today. She has met all of her foster brothers and sisters and is reserved but will mix right in when she gets the chance. She is very skinny and we will work to put some weight on her which should be easy because she loved her breakfast this morning and has enjoyed a few treats. We are going to check on her vaccinations with her previous vet tomorrow and we will bring her up to date if needed. She will need to be spayed before she goes to her new forever home. Brandy did live with children at her previous home and they have told us that she was wonderful with them. Everyone there was over 4 so for now we will just go with that understanding. She did live with another dog in the household and I can tell that she is going to do fine with all the dogs here. She will bark at things outside when she is unsure of things and will pick up when our dogs are feeling protective. Her ears are docked and they are done beautifully, stand up nice and straight. For so many years boxers had their ears cropped and you just don't see it that often anymore. She is cute and will be a nice addition to any family. She sticks right by your side. Check back with us on her progress as we get to know this nice girl.

2/5/05 - Boxer'In on the lake would like to welcome Ms. Brandy to our foster home. She is an owner surrender. She would like to thank all her transporters today who helped her get to her foster home. She is resting in her crate and is being a very good girl in there so far. She wasn't interested in dinner but we will ask her later as she gets a little more comfortable here. She is nervous and will get along with the dogs here but just not today. She appears to be a lttle dominant but we will just give her some time to settle in. She is cute, not a very big boxer. She is fawn with a little white on her face, chest, and feet and I'm guessing around 4 years old. She has had at least one litter of puppies as you can tell from her body. Her ears and tail are docked and her ears are beautifully done. She has nice big round eyes and has already offered to play with her foster dad. We will keep you posted as she gets to know us here and we know what she is all about.
