UPDATE 1/10/07 - When Boomer came into rescue, he came with his brother Bubba. They did
suffer from starvation just prior to getting into rescue!
Bubba was mine to foster and I soon found out that he was so food
aggressive (among other things) that he couldn't be adopted. So, I
adopted him. He was usually the very sweetest of dogs and went from a
mere 50 lbs to 63 lbs. We lost him the day after he turned 10 on Jan.
1 of 2006.
Like Boomer, he was very loved.
Now they are back together and probably swapping stories.

I am sorry for your loss, but you gave him the love and care that he
deserved.

UPDATE 1/4/07 - sad to say that boomer has now passed on to rainbow bridge.  he came home to his sister princess ( coon hound)and brother tyson (also adopted from scbr in 4/2004) in march of 2005... he was 8 years old when we got him... his sister princess passed away before thanksgiving (she had a stroke and prior to that she a 20 pound tumor in her stomache that we had removed. she was 13 yrs old) boomer was broken hearted over her departure to rainbow bridge...but now they can play together again.... and poor tyson.. he is now all alone though we do have a new addition to our family ( a human one he will be 4 moths old on the 13th of january) we hope that boomer will play with princess and max and the rest of the doggies at rainbow bridge and we will see him again someday....

3/05 - Boomer has been adopted!

03/22/05 Just a quick update to say that Boomer arrived at the Doghouse last Sunday and is doing great.  He walked in, said hello to all the canines, Bubba, Annabelle, Magoo, Kelli, Dancer, and even Kabuki the Peke.  Absolutely no problems.  Settled right in and is a model of manners and behavior.  Loves cuddling and loves playing with Magoo and Dancer.  They have had some really intensive play times.  Is not to great on the leash but settles down quickly.  Haven't let him run free yet, it is a little soon.  But when sneaking out the door with the others he comes right back when called.  He loves sitting next to my new, 3 month old, grandson and along with the ladies makes sure that he is safe.  All in all he is a great dog.  He does drink a bit much, but his digestive system has been in turmoil due to having moved around a bit for the last month.  So as soon as he settles in with his forever family, I think that things will calm down significantly.  He does have to go out regularly and will try to ask.  All you have to do is listen to him.

- Just wanted to update Boomer as his personality is coming out a bit more. Boomer continues to be a great and affectionate dog.  He is more comfortable being with us now and he has started to surprize us with some things that he has not done before.  We have discoved that Boomer can stand and balance on his back legs!  Last night while making dinner whenever I turned around to do something I would find myself looking right into Boomer's face.  lol  He was making me laugh so hard.  He will also stand up on his back legs and wait for our dog to come by and then body slams Nick to the floor.  This of course turns into a boxer wrestling match.  Boomer loves to wrestle.  It is always playful and when I tell him to knock it off he does right away.  He listens really well and is very well behaved in general.

Boomer loves his cookies too.  He will "sit", "shake" and we almost have "down".  He is very food motivated and very interested in ALL food.  He does not steal it from plates or off the counter he just follows you around as you are preparing it looking really cute and trying to get a tidbit here and there. Boomer is my helper when it is time to eat.  Once I collect the dogs food bowls for a meal he is glued to my side.  He inspects all food bags, does a little sampling from each bag and is very concerned with how much is placed in each bowl and he does a little cha cha dance while waiting.  He gobbles his food down in seconds flat.  Both he and Nick for some reason will save a few kibbles in the bottom of their bowls and then they trade bowls. It is sort of sweet. Boomer has no food agression whatsoever.  He will let you pet him while eating and he lets you touch his food bowl too.  He has even started eating in the same room as Nick and he has no problem sharing.

The other night at our house in the woods we had what we are calling "Boomer's Big Adventure".  My husband had come home from work and as he went to get the leashes to take the dogs out Boomer dashed past him and out the door.  Mike and I learned the hard way that it is EXTREMELEY difficult to look for a white dog, in the snow, in the woods with only flashlights.  Eventually we caught up with him and once he spotted us he came right when called.  He had not tried this before so it had taken us a little by surprize!  We were very relieved once we found him!  (I think that he was too!)

We had some company yesterday and Boomer announced their arrival for us with a few barks.  Once we told him everything was okay he stopped barking.  He was great with people that he never met.  No jumping up on them but he does feel the need to try to sit on you!!  He is super friendly and enjoys cuddling, kids, cookies and American Idol.  Again, get those applications in because Boomer will make a great family dog!!

- BOOMER MOVED TO MASSACHUSETTS ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO AND HE IS DOING GREAT.  HIS PERSONALITY IS COMING OUT AND HE SHINES!!!  HE HAS GAINED SOME WEIGHT AND IS NOW UP TO 55 LBS.  HE STILL HAS ANOTHER 5 OR 6 TO GO BUT THAT SHOULD  NOT BE A PROBLEM SINCE HE HAS A GREAT APPETITE!

BOOMER IS A VERY CALM DOG.  NO COUNTER SURFING, TRASH DIVING, FOOD STEALING FOR THIS GUY.  HE LOVES TO GO FOR WALKS. HE STILL PULLS WHILE ON THE LEASH ESPECIALLY WHEN ENCOUNTERING OTHER PEOPLE OR ANIMALS BUT IT IS OUT OF CURIOSITY AND NOT AGGRESSIVE IN ANY WAY.  HE HAS LOVED ALL PEOPLE AND OTHER ANIMALS THAT HE HAS MET.  WE DO NOT HAVE ANY CATS SO WE ARE UNSURE HOW HE WOULD BE WITH CATS. HE IS FABULOUS WITH KIDS.  HE LOVES MY 5 YEAR OLD SAMANTHA AND IS ALWAYS TRYING TO PUT HIS HEAD ON HER LAP OR SHOULDER.  HE WAS A BIT STINGY WITH THE KISSES AT FIRST BUT IS MORE THAN WILLING TO OBLIGE LATELY!  BOOMER LOVES TO SIT ON LAPS.

BOOMER IS ALWAYS READY TO GO FOR A RIDE IN THE CAR.  HE DOES NOT CARE WHERE YOU GO AS LONG AS HE GETS TO GO TOO!  BOOMER DID NEED A LITTLE REFRESHER COURSE IN HOUSEBREAKING BUT WE FEEL THAT HE HAS GOTTEN THE PICTURE NOW!  HE DOES STILL HAVE WET BEDDING OVERNIGHT IN HIS CRATE BUT HE HAS BEEN STARTING TO BARK TO LET US KNOW THAT HE NEEDS TO GO OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT.  WE ARE WORKING ON THIS BUT IT IS NOT REALLY THAT BIG OF A DEAL, HE JUST GETS A FRESH TOWEL EACH NIGHT AND WE TAKE IT OUT IN THE MORNING AND CLEAN THE CRATE OUT.

BOOMER IS AN OLDER GUY BUT HAS PLENTY OF ENGERGY STILL AND WOULD BE A GREAT ADDITION TO A FAMILY. HE IS LIKE A BIG MARSHMALLOW AND DESERVES A GREAT FAMILY TO LOVE HIM!

01/25/05 - Let me introduce you to Boomer, he is approximately 8 years old and acts like he is about 5 years old.  Boomer is the youngest 8 year old dog I have ever met.  He is ready to run and play in the yard with anyone who will run with him.  As you can see he is a white boxer and really a cutie.  Boomer from what we can tell about him so far needs to gain some weight and have his neuter done.  We will get that neuter done right away and he should be ready for his forever home.  Boomer is a big time cuddler too he just comes up to you and leans on your legs and waits for you to pet him.  He has some obedience training he walks okay on a leash but needs a refresher course as he likes to pull a little.  He know sit and will give paw for a treat.  If you have room in your heart and home for and older guy who acts like a youngster get that application in today.  Boomer deserves a forever home that has some time to spend giving him the attention he craves.
