UPDATE July 5, 2008
Today Bailey went to the Rainbow Bridge.
Last week, Wednesday, Bailey had a heart attack. She came out of that one ok, but Thursday she
had another one. This time she didn't fair so well. She laid around and only got up to drink water. We
had to take her outside with a leash to pee. She wouldn't eat a thing for three days. Was in pain most
of the time and could take only short breaths.
We couldn't see her suffer anymore so the Vet put her down for us.
We had 3 great years with her and will surely miss her and will for some time as we did when we had
to put our Sheena down in 2002.
Good luck to you people and thanks for her. We don't want another one. It's too hard to put them
down.
UPDATE 5/21/08 - Bailey has been doing great this past year. She loves it here. We never have to
hitch her. The only time we put a leash on her is when we walk in the road. She doesn't go in the road
at all by herself. She loves to lay on the porch and sleep and keep an eye out for a squrrel.
Bailey is so funny. She won't eat her food in the morning, or any meal, until we put an extra treat in
her dish. That is one reason why she has gained a few more pounds this last winter.
Bailey's dad built a ramp so she could get into the car, (she is a little lame and some arthritis). She
also has some steps so she can get up on the bed with us. (OH Yes, she sleeps with us.)Is that spoiled
or what.
We sure do love her. She has been a wonderful companion to us. She needs to walk more and so
does Mom. What with the cold, snow, and busy schedule we haven't done much. It seemed like an
awfully long winter.
We finally met Bailey's former family, Gary and Julie Gibson'last summer. We had a wonderful visit.
We found out that Bailey's name was Bailey Gray and was born in November 1997. So now she is
"Bailey Gray Moulton"
Talk to ya later.
UPDATE 5/12/07 - Bailey has been doing great this past year. She is so well behaved (except at the
dinner table). She loves to eat and we can't seem to say "no" enough. She has gained a little more
weight.
Bailey, in the past year, had an infection (or growth)removed from her front paw. She also had colitis.
But all in all she is ok.
We were, recently, in touch with Bailey's origional and next owners and found out her Birthday. It was
in November 1997.
Bailey likes to lay on the porch and watch for squrrels. Then she chases them. She caught one last
year and was she proud. She carried it around and didn't want to let it go.
We feel so lucky to have Bailey. We love her very much.
UPDATE 6/11/06 - Bailey has been doing great this past year. We haven't been very active this last
winter so, sadly to say, we have all put on a little weight. Bailey loves to eat too much and I guess she
gets that from us. Bailey has the run of the house and we couldn't ask for a better behaved dog than
her. Just once, when we left her alone, she got into the garbage. No damage done. She only peed on
the floor once, and that was when she had bladder infection last year. Bailey stays with dad when they
are outdoors. When dad cuts wood Bailey lays near the tractor and watches everything that's going
on. Do you remember seeing, on television, a bear sitting up and scratching its belly with its front paw?
Well Bailey does the same thing. It is so cute to see her do that. She has had this itch problem, I guess
since day one. We have switched food a few times and now I think she is much better. She loves to
ride. We made up a bed in the back of our car so she either sits up and enjoys the scenery or lays
down and naps. Bailey loves everybody. She has only barked a couple of times since she has been
here. Once during the night she heard something outside. Don't know what it was. Maybe a bear or
something. When we have company, she wiggles her hind end and tried to give away her Boxer
kisses. If we don't watch her she will jump right in the car with anybody. I can't believe she was in a
Foster home so long before we adopted her. And we can see, now, how Claire and her husband felt
when we took Bailey from them. We don't believe we could part with her ever.
UPDATE 11/15/05 - Bailey has been doing great. She loved corn on the cob this summer. Bailey
goes most everywhere with us. She is real good to leave alone in the car and at home. We don't know
if someone taught her or if she learned here, but we say'Give me your paw' and she will put her paw
up on your knee. She begs a lot. Among other things, we have got her to sneeze for a handout.
Saturday morning she had her first accident. She peed on the floor. We spotted some blood in the
urine, so off to the vet we went. Got some antibiotics into her and now she seems ok. We hope that
will take care of the problem. Bailey still watches for the squrrels, and likes to chase them up a tree.
Oh yes! We have a little nick name for her. 'American Express'. Because we can't leave home without
her. She still weighs the same even with the extra treats she isn't supposed to get. No matter who
comes to the door, her tail wiggles and is happy to see them. Bailey doesn't have a mean bone in her
body. Some nights she seems lonely and jumps on the bed and sleeps with us. Bailey is still our baby
and we can't get out of her sight
UPDATE 8/13/05 - Bailey has been doing great. She is real good on the retractable leash (except
when there is another dog around, then she pulls to go play!). We're afraid she hasn't lost much weight
lately. Haven't been able to walk too much in this heat. And as Claire said, Bailey sure does like to
eat. We know we shouldn't, but she likes any kind of food, especially corn on the cob. Bailey is still
healthy and spry. She found a bee's nest under our deck. She didn't like the bee sting one bit. Now
she is mad at every fly she sees. Oh yes! Bailey went for a boat ride the other day. She loved it. Sat
right up front and watched the water spray go by. Also she saw a loon close to the boat and she
wanted to go and (sic) play with it. I don't believe you could get Bailey away from us now. Bailey
says, Thanks guys for finding a forever home for me.
UPDATE 7/12/05 - Bailey is an awesome dog. We can't find the words to describe her. She is so
good. We took her to the Vet's June 28th and got some heart worm pills and also some medicine for
her ears and for her feet. Her ears are a lot better and she seems to chew her toes a lot less. We just
hope the medicine works. Bailey lays on the garage floor when Dad is working in there She is so much
like our first Boxer, Sheena. Bailey sure likes to ride. We open the door and we don't have to coax
her to get in. She sticks her head out of the window for a few seconds and then she shakes her head. I
don't mind cleaning the dashboard. We love her so much. Where was she when we had to put Sheena
down 2 years ago? We feel bad when we have to leave her at home when we go out. She will look at
us with those big sad eyes as if to say 'What about Me?' We are so thankful that Bailey isn't afraid of
thunder-showers. Our Sheena was PETRIFIED of them. We have had no problems with her yet. Oh
yes! Bailey looks so cute when she gets on her back and scratches herself on the carpet. She squirms
around, back and forth, and rotates in an almost full circle.
UPDATE 6/10/05 - Hi There: This is Bailey Speaking,Boy, was I surprised on May,12th. These two
grown ups showed up at my foster home. And I couldn't believe my eyes. I knew right off I had my
Forever home all lined up. They and my Foster parents had tears in their eyes.I did my thing and gave
chin kisses all around. My foster parents hated to see me go. When we went out side my new Dad
opened the car door and I didn't hesitate I jumped right in the back seat ready to go. I must say we
had a long ride home. I was pretty lucky, I rode in three states in one day. Maine, New Hampshire,
and to Vermont to my new home. They stopped about 4 times so I could do my doggie thing and give
me some water. My Mom says I did really great the first night. I slept on a new pad by their bed and
slept through till morning. But now I have taken over the couch. I like that a lot better. They take me
for walks in the Great North Woods . Boy this place is great I watch for squirrels and a woodchuck.
They tease me but I make them hide. I smelled where a bear was in the garden and did my hair stand
up. Mom and Dad says I behave real good. I hide on my Dad behind the little shed. Dad just says
'where are you' and I come running to him. I know where he is. Most of the time he can't get out of
my sight. I'm right behind him. Every morning we go to the Post Office. When the door is opened on
the car I jump right in and I'm CO-pilot. I have an appointment with a new Vet. I will be going to the
Vet Clinic in Whitefield NH. on the 28th. Will let you know next Month how well I did.
5/12/05 - Bailey has been adopted!
04/0705 - Hi everyone, this is Bailey. Since my mom has been somewhat tired this past winter, I
thought I’d sneak onto the computer & tell you about myself! I am very sweet! I am 8 yrs old, a
young 8 yrs old, and somewhat on the chunky size, like my mom. We both put on some extra pounds
this winter. Please don’t tell mom I said she was chunky, ok? We have been getting out, walking
quite a bit, and I must say it feels great. Mom walks me about 1 mile in the morning, and in the evening
too. She also walks my foster brother Rufus at the same time. He is only 4 years old, and I must say,
he can’t keep up with me. He puts on his breaks, & tries to inform mom that he wants to go
home, but me & mom won’t let him. I always walk in front of him because he is so slow! I also
have a foster sister, Phoebe who is 3 yrs old. She is a dominant female, and she and I don’t see
eye to eye, you see, I am the Queen B around here. Mom has a schedule worked out so that we have
different nap times in our dens (crates)
01/22/05 - We've had the pleasure of hosting Miss Bailey for a month now, and all is well. She is a
very special, loving boxer. She has brought a lot of joy into our lives, and I am sure she will bring love
and joy to you too.
We've discovered Bailey loves to chew on marrow bones, she will chew & chew until she is
exhausted. She has a lot of spunk and energy, loves to walk. She is at her best in the snow. Have you
ever seen a boxer play in the snow? It's quite the sight! Bailey must be the co-pilot when riding in the
car. She sits in the passenger seat, that is HER seat, and that's all there is to it! She loves to stick her
head out the window & enjoy the weather, no matter what kind of weather it is! She brings many
smiles from people we pass on the highway, or in town.
Bailey is doing well with the "Gentle Leader", and she is obedient, (especially when food is nearby).
She is a healthy girl, she does seem to lick her paws quite a bit, maybe seasonal allergies? She is
waiting for YOU to invite her into your FOREVER home, to be YOUR faithful, loyal companion for
the rest of her days. Don't wait too long to make the decision, give this girl the home she truly
deserves!
12/30/04 - We've had the pleasure of having Miss Bailey for a whole week now, and all I can say is
what a girl! She loves to hug & kiss. I've never been "boxer kissed" like this before! She is sooooo
sweeeet! She is very well behaved, gets along with my 2 male dogs. Miss Phoebe, the "princess" of
this house, is an alpha female, we are trying to introduce them slowly. Miss Bailey is alpha female
when she is with the boys (of course), but having 2 alpha females together can be trouble. We take
turns having them out, they each have an equal amount of crate time, where they can chill & "get away
from it all".
I just started using a "Gentle Leader Training Collar" on Bailey, as she tends to pull on leash. Dogs are
naturally "pack" animals with a highly structured social order. One of the ways the "pack leader" will
demonstrate his position is to gently but firmly grasp a subordinate's muzzle in his mouth. This is a non-
aggressive, very clear signal regarding who's the boss! The Gentle Leader's® nose loop encircles
your dog's muzzle in this same manner, letting him know in his own language
that YOU are his leader. Dogs feel more secure when they know who the leader is.
She loves to walk, has a lot of energy. She has more energy than my younger boxer, Rufus! She is
quite playful, and loves to chew.
If you love a playful, affectionate, obedient dog, Bailey is the one for you! Don't let her age of 8 scare
you! I promise you, if you adopt Bailey, 2005 will be the greatest year ever!
12/24/04 Our Bailey has arrived to the Brindle Boxer Bunkhouse! Bailey was surrendered due to a
dominant dog in the home was attacking Bailey, so her previous owners thought SCBR was the right
thing to do. She hopped right into my jeep, sat on the passenger seat & was my co-pilot for the ride
home. I told her about her foster sister & brothers, and what to expect in our home. She was great
company! I am going to do slow introductions to my other dogs. She slept great in her crate last night,
on a nice new cushion, not a peep out of her & no accidents in the crate. I took her out to do her â
€œbusinessâ€ and for a stroll around the neighborhood this morning. She is a VERY SWEET loving
girl, has a beautiful grey face! She loves to give “Boxer Kisses, she is a lover! I am sure she
will not be here long! How about taking in this golden oldie for 2005? You’ll love her, I promise!
I will post pictures soon, be prepared, your heart will melt.
