UPDATE 3/27/07 - Zona is now 2 years old.. She is the sweetest dog..We absolutely love her and
spoil her. She thinks whenever she hears me open the closet door and get my pockebook that
she is going with me..Which most of the time she does go with me in the car..she doesn't mind
waiting in the car while I do my grocery shopping or even if we go out to eat she loves to go with
us and sleeps while she waits.. Of course she know if we go out to eat she always gets the
doggie bag..She and our 3 pugs get along great.. Occasionally there is a quable over a toy or
food but it is just noisy and sounds bad but no one ever gets hurt.. Zona always has a toy in her
mouth, she even falls asleep with one hanging out while she is sleeping.. She loves to sleep
under the covers in bed..She is very smart and listens very well.. The crate has been put away
for over a year now and she is fine without one..  People have commented on how well behaved
she is.  She does not have any issues and I can take her anywhere..
We are very happy to have her..Shes an awesome boxer..

UPDATE 6/23/06 - Zona is doing very well..She is now 15 months old and weights 57
pounds..She is on the small side for a boxer..Zona is the sweetest girl..She is a great dog,
obedient and goes  with me where ever I go.. She just loves to ride in the car and sits nicely in
the back seat.. When ever I do errands she comes with me, when I come back from an errand
she is in my seat keeping it warm for me. I keep her busy and give her lots of exercise so she no
longer needs the  crate..The crate is put away  in the cellar and is  only used on few occasions
....She gets along well with our 3 pugs.. She is a great dog and we are very happy to have
her..Shes a peach!!!!!!

UPDATE 1/20/06 - Arizona- Zona is now 10 months old and doing very well..She and I do our 2
mile walk-jog about 5 times a week.. It sure keeps her in check as far as her energy level .When
we don't get our walk in it shows as she is bored in the house and looking for a Pug to pick-on -
play with.. The only problem with that is the Pugs are much smaller and  although Zona is very
sweet natured she  plays rough and boxes the Pugs .. They sometimes like to play with her until
she uses her front feet to box and pushes them in the face, which discourages the Pugs from
playing with her..Sometimes she will lay down and play with them and that method seems to work
for all of them.. Otherwise I have to discourage her from playing with the Pugs because of the
size difference I'm afraid one of the Pugs will get hurt..I have to step in and ask her to stop
otherwise she won't quite picking on them..When asked to stop she will because she knows now
that if she doesn't stop she gets 10 minutes time out tied to the kitchen table. When I do that its
too cute..She will let out a BIG sigh like "oh no I'm busted".. After the 10 minutes I untie her and
shes fine.. I have consistently done that so now all I have to say is leave it and she will
stop...She's very obedient.... All 4 dogs  get along well and sleep cuddled up together..Zona is
such a sweet natured girl who doesn't have an agressive bone in her body...We  feel very
fortunate to have her..She enjoys running through the woods like a crazy lady on our walks out
back on the trails.. I'm amazed how fast and athletic she is..She's quite the jumper..We continue
to work on her training as she is very smart and willing..She did seem to go through a little time of
teenage rebellion of testing but that seems to be over.. When we walk out back in the woods I
can call her or clap my hands and she comes flying back to me..She is a very well behaved girl
who listens very well..Of course she is very food motivated and gets lots of treats and
praises....She  enjoys sleeping in bed with us and goes right under the covers..Almost everyday
she goes to the post office with me to deliver the dog coats..She enjoys the car rides and is very
well behaved in the car..Zona is a very spoiled boxer and she deserves every bit of spoiling.. Til
next time !!

UPDATE 10/12/05 - Zona is doing very well, she is now 7 months old.. Last week she was spayed
and at that time she weighted in at 43 lbs. I must say it was very hard trying to keep her from
jumping and running around.. She needed to be on a leash but she still bounced around.. Luckily
all stayed well and she made it just fine until it was time to have the stitches out..When she was a
puppy I thought she was quite mellow  but as she has gotten older her energy level has
increased..I keep it in check by taking her out often and letting her run through the woods on our
many walks or by playing frisbee with her.. She loves to play ball or frisbee.. Its amazing how fast
she can run...We also walk down the road for our mile or two walk..She has finished obedience
class and walks very nice on the leash.. She is a very willing and obedient girl..  I have found that
the more she is out the better she behaves in the house... I try to keep her busy by going for
rides in the car which she loves, lots of walks and just hanging out in the barn with me when I'm
caring for the 2 horses we have.. She also goes to doggie day care once a week to learn to play
and get along better with other dogs.. She likes other dogs but she is so submissive to them
even to puppies she meets.. I decided to send her to day care only one day as all the other times
she is home with me..While I'm working in my shop in the basement making dog coats she is
sleeping on the doggie bed or exploring the basement..Doggie Day care has been very good for
her and she is getting much better with other dogs.. Sometimes she has 10 dogs all in the same
pen to learn to play with..Its nice because Doggie Day care is also the same place we went to
obedience classes so she knows some of the dogs and the lady that runs it.. She really likes
Zona and says she is a people lover.. I can leave her loose in the house when  I go off for an
hour or so and she is fine in the house loose.. I think the pugs babysit her and they just sleep the
whole time.. AT night she sleeps with one of my sons She loves the pugs but tends to want to
play with them more than they want to play with her so in that case I tire her out , playing outside
so when she comes in she will just sleep with the pugs and not be a pest to them.. She is a
wonderful dog and we all really love her ..Thanks SCBR !!

UPDATE 8/12/05 - Zona is doing awesome.. She has had some new adventures lately like her
first boat ride and venturing out to Pet Quarters.. At Pet Quarters she was on her best behavior
and soon realized they have some great smells in there.. I bought some liver treats and used the
new environment as a training experience.. She was so well behaved and I was able to keep her
attention even with the new distractions.. At home we work alot on 'Watch Me' and it really
showed how much that helped keep her attention even in a new situation.. Of course the liver
treats really helped as she loves any food.. She is very motivated by food..She greeted everyone
she saw with many wiggles and kisses if they would let her.. She just pranced around the store
like she was the queen.. She even stayed very well for her new collar fitting.. She just sat there
patiencely waiting and watching.. It is amazing how much she loves little children.. We do not
have little ones at ou
r home as our boys are teenagers but she sure gets wiggly when she hears or sees little
children..Its so cute to see her just standing there behaving and all wiggles..She has been to my
sister camp a couple of times and she just loves the water.. Goes right in over her head and
swims around.. She had her first boat ride which she didn't seem too concerned with.. She soon
fell asleep..When we take her to the camp everyone comments on what a nice well behaved dog
she is.. We have not done the obedience classes yet but she sure acts like she has.. She does
not pull on the leash at all and just walks calmly, sits when asked .. Again I carry treats with me
most of the time and she is rewarded often for her excellent behavior.. I try to keep the training
times short and often as it keeps her attention that way..I am with her all day and work at home
so she is always with me and I use every experience as a traing time.. I am very consistent with
her. Also she is a very easy dog to train , submissive and aims to please.. She just adores my
husband washes him with many kisses.. She wiggles and dances around when he comes home
from work.. She then kisses him non stop.. Shes a real sweet dog amd loves everyone.. We
could not be more pleased and thankful to have such a wonderful dog.. She is now 5 months old
and growing so fast.. She towers over the pugs and just loves to play with them.. However, they
do not have the energy or desire to play alot like she does so I take her alone for walks in the
woods to tire her out and to let her run and let loose. She flys through woods and when I whistle
she flys to me and sits waiting for her treat.. Soon I plan to start taking her with me when I ride my
horse in the woods so she will be able to work off some of her extra energy.. However, I still feel
she is a mellow boxer just loves to play and run so she should like the horse back riding
time..She likes to be out in the barn with me but she does keep her distance with the horses and
realizes there hug size compared to her..She is a smart dog and a great companion.. WE love
her very much and she us.. Sorry to brag so about her but she deserves to be bragged about
and all the credit. Til next time..Do check out how cute she is on the yahoo group picture section!!

UPDATE 7/2/05 - Zona when to the vets this week for her third set of shots.. She is growing very
fast and now weights 22 lbs.. She was one of the smallest puppies when we picked her up but I
think she is making up for lost time.. She is a very good eater and eats 1 1/2 cups- three times a
day plus lots of treats.. She is a very good listener and when told to leave it or not play with
something that she is not supposed to all I have to tell her is leave it or uh-uh and she stops..
Usually she will walk off and lay down and just look at me.. She very cute and listens remarkable
well for a 4 month old puppy.. Even my husband and son comment on how well she listens. At the
moment she is quite tall and long and lean.. She really seems to be growing incredibly fast..
Every one who sees her comments on how big her feet are.. When she runs she sounds like a
horse or goat galloping along.. Its like her feet are too big for her.. AFter owning her I understand
why they are called boxers.. She boxes with her feet..She very amusing to watch.. She loves to
play with our 3 pugs but when they arent' interested in playing she will entertain herself.. She just
loves being outside exploring or even laying on the lawn just observing the sights and sounds of
the woods. She is an awesome dog and a pleasure to own.. She has met a few other dogs which
she usually cowers and rolls over on her belly and pees.. She is great with people but seems to
be shy with other dogs.. She did meet another pug at our house this week which she was afraid
of at first then she played endlessly with. I will need to get her around other dogs so she will be
used to them.. I'm planning on starting obedience training next month so she will have more
exposure to many dogs..At this point she seems to be afraid of new dogs she meets.. I suppose
that is because she is a very submissive dog..Oh, almost forgot Zona had her first swim sessions
last weekend as we were at my sisters camp along with 4 labs and she seems to like the water..
She swam quite well. She did start to warm up to the other dogs by the end of the day but 4 large
labs seemed to overwhelm her at first.. She hid behind my legs or keep wanting me to pick her
up..With people she loves everyone especially little kids.. Its amazing how puppies love little
people closer to their size..Zona loves our 3 pugs but new dogs scare her..Other than that she is
doing very well and we just love her..

UPDATE 6/4/05 - Arizona is doing great.. She is such an awesome puppy.. At 12 weeks she
knows how to speak, sit and comes almost all them time when called.. She knows her name and
is a very obedient dog at such a young age..She has a very willing attitude and really listens
well.. I am impressed with her and how well she does listen.. Of course the treats really help !!
She has a very big appetite and eats every morsel of her food and loves treats.. We have 3 adult
Pugs which welcomed her into her new home from the day she walked in the door for the first
time.. She loves to play with them and can convince them to play even when they are not in the
mood.. When we brought her home she was smaller than the pugs but now she is the same size
for the time being.. She is growing very fast and is turning into a beautiful brindle boxer girl.Last
week she went to the vets for her 2nd set of shots and she was great and now weighs 13
pounds.. I take her in the car alot and try to expose her to many things so she will be a well
socialized boxer that will love everyone..So far everyone loves her. I think she is very mellow for a
puppy.. She is a big hugger and loves to snuggle in anyones lap....She is doing very well with her
housebreaking and is a real joy to own..She fits right into our house like she was meant to be
here. Tonight she went to a party with us that had 2 big labs and she was great.. She submitted
to them which set the tone and they all got along very well.. Of course everyone there just loved
her and had to hold her and get their puppy fix. She just loved all the attention and is now
sleeping very peacefully in her crate after a fun and busy day out.. Sweet Dreams > Zona P.S.
Could I send a picture or 2 to put with her page?? I'd love to have one added as she is soooo
cute.. Bragging now !!
