UPDATE 6/14/05 - Sunny is doing great!! We are really, really enjoying her. She is so loving and
devoted to her humans! She got an excellent bill of health from the Vet in March. Because of her size
and her energy, people often confuse our 8 year old girl for a much younger dog. She loves to play
ball in the back yard and will run like a bullet to fetch it. It's funny, sometimes she in the mood to be
chased after with the ball and sometimes she will bring it right back to have it tossed again. In April
we took her for a little 3 day vacation to Cape Cod. She really enjoyed it, especially all of the walks
on the beach. Sunny has a new dog walker, Donna, who's really great. They seem to enjoy each
other's company and I'm sure Sunny just wags up a storm when Donna shows up at the door. Sunny
is loving the sunshine after the very snowy winter and she wishes everyone in Boxer-land a good
summer!!
UPDATE 2/22/05 - Sunny graduated from obedience school! ...not that she wasn't already perfect
going in! Sunny has made good friends in our neighboor, both human and 4-legged. We have 2
Labradors who moved in next door and on the other side a puppy Sheltie. Sunny prefers playing with
the bigger dogs as that's what she things she is (even though she weighs under 40 lbs.). Sunny says all
this snow is for the birds and she's ready for Spring to arrive, in the meantime, she loves it when we
turn on the gas powered "wood stove" and will hang out there staying cozy & warm. Sunny loves
going for rides in the car and a couple of weeks ago she went with us to Maine for a wedding. She
had a nice time staying with Desi, my sister's dog--they have a nice big yard. She is eating well and
her health seems to be great. In March we will be taking her for a regular check-up at the Vet. We
really, really love Sunny!!!
UPDATE 1/10/05 - Sunny continues to do very well. She has adjusted very well and is so friendly
towards people. It is so cute how she wiggles so hard and bends her body when she's excited to see
you! She's asking to be pet on both ends!! Sunny's health has been great, she's been eating well and
very much enjoys walking and going to the park. The obdience training is going well too. We have 2
more training classes to go. We're really trying to stay on top of practicing what we learn there. We
are working on her attention span when she's outdoors. She will come when called indoors but not so
good at it outdoors, so we've been practicing. She is still a model student and continues to charm the
trainer!
11/9/04 - Sunny has been adopted!
10/23/04 - Sunny continues to make our life fun and interesting. She has just made herself at home
now and knows the rountine like she has been here forever. She is not crated at all and continues to
be the best girl. We give her a peanut butter filled marrow bone when we leave for work and she
looks forward to them. She is wonderful in the house and welcomes us home with many many
wiggles and kisses. She is liking her foster brothers and sisters and actually will play with them alot.
She loves to get out in the backyard and will run like the wind chasing whoever wants to play with
her. She has no problem keeping us with some of the younger ones. She is so much fun to watch
because she will run as fast as her little legs will carry her. She sounds like she is mad but it is just her
way of playing. We laugh because she can even make one of our big guys tuck his tail and run. Sunny
is very sweet and gives lots and lots of kisses. When she thinks you are not paying enough attention
to her, she will come up behind you and paw at you until you either give her some loving or a treat.
She loves her treats and likes to get one everytime she comes in from outside. She is very well
behaved and has had no accidents in the house. Sunny has nice big round eyes and she just about
melts your heart. We just love her and she is just no trouble at all having her here but I do hope that
she finds a home to call her own where she can fall in love just one more time. She welcomes guests
into out home very nicely. She is not a jumper like most boxers are. She loves dog beds but she is
sleeping on our bed at night next to her foster dad. She likes it very much and she loves to snuggle
with him. She is so little so you hardly know she is there. Sunny keeps an eye on the comings and
goings of the neighborhood. She will let you know as she keeps watch. Sunny has alot to give so
don't let her age stop you from adopting her. She is full of life and you will find that it is easy to fall in
love with her. Think about making her a part of your family, she will make everyday Sunny.
10/12/04 Sunny continues to do well at her foster home. She is just a delight and we laugh with her
everyday of the week. She is so sweet and so loveable that you could just pick her up and hug her.
Sunny went to the vet this week as she needed to be brought up to date on her kennel cough
vaccination. She weighs only 39 lbs and is just a little midget but she has a huge personality and has
no idea that she is the size that she is. She is just a loving little girl and has more confidence than most
of the dogs here. Sunny loves to sleep on the dog beds and quite often you will find her snuggling up
to another boxer that is on the same bed. She is eating well and has no issues with food what so ever.
She is not crated and is the first one at the door to greet you when you come in from work. Run this
girl can run. She can run faster than some of the residents here that are half her age. Today, she had
a stuffed little lamb that we won at the boxer blast and wanted someone to want it as she had it in her
mouth. She would go up to any of the other dogs and stick it in their face just to get them going. We
had a slow speed chase going on here at the boxer'in. I think she managed to get three dogs all
wanting the lamb and she had no thoughts about giving it to any of them. She is just too funny. Sunny
would make a great addition to any family and she would bring you so much joy. We love this little
girl with the pistol personality and get such a charge out of her. She could make even rainy days fun.
Please think about making her so happy to become part of your family. She is so loveable and
deserving of a family that she can call her own.
9/28/04 The residents of the Boxer'In on the Lake are all taking notice of this little girl. She has
gotten everyone's attention that's for sure. She has that pistol type of personality and she is not afraid
to try and keep everyone on the straight and narrow. She has no problem telling even the leader that
she is here and don't forget it. She is very very sweet and just loves people. You can pick her up she
is so tiny and such a lady but a very very reserved little lady. She is doing great here. She still likes to
rule Rocky's actions but it is all done in play but she sounds like she is at her limit with any other dog
that isn't just seeing things her way. She sleeps on our bed and snuggles so tight to her foster dad.
During the day, she is out in general public and is very very good. She loves her dog beds and can
always be found on them. In the morning when I pick up all the beds from our bedroom, I stack them
and before I leave for work she is sleeping on top of them, like she is the queen. She is just too cute
and both of us have fallen in love with her. She would be a great CGC dog to visit nursing homes or
some kind of work where she could make people happy. She sits ever so straight and will put her
little paw asking for you to pet her. I plan on taking her to an assisted living home this week where
my mother is and I am sure she will make many residents happy. She certainly doesn't act like a 7
year old. Sunny would do fine in a home with another dog that is not dominant but I also feel she
could go to any family with no other dog and do great. She has had no accidents and is certainly
enjoying her time here. She is going to make a great companion to any family young or old. She is
just looking for a little piece of someone's heart.
9/26/04 Rocky and Sunny have arrived at the Boxer'In. They both are an owner surrender from a
deaf young man who is moving to Ohio to an assisted living home. He was very sad but he knows he
did the right thing. They were both very well taken care of and loved. Rocky is a neutered flashy
fawn 1 yr old male with docked tail and natural ears, and Sunny is a spayed fawn female 7 yrs old
with a docked tail and natural ears. Rocky is about 65 lbs and Sunny is a tiny little girl who weighs 40
lbs. She has lots of spirit and keeps Rocky behaving himself. She looks so much like Cleo who was
also very tiny and has the very same pistol personality. Both a just great and love people.
