UPDATE 7/21/04 - Well, Spoke has settled in very nicely.  He sleeps in bed with Dad and
doesn't want Dad to go without him. He is very good with other dogs and kids. He rides in
the truck all the time.  He walks 2.5 miles every day and is a very good ball player.  He is
going to the Nascar race in New Hampshire this weekend and we will take the crate and
leave him in the camper with the a/c if it's hot.  He has a 4 month old Yorkie that is totally in
love with him named Grace.  Grace just kisses him every minute she can, it's very funny to
watch.  Looking into the obedience training but so far we have been staying in the yard
when the leash is off.

7/6/04 - Spoke was adopted!

6/23/04 It has been over a week now and Spoke is really starting to come out of  his shell.
He loves to run and play in the yard with all the other dogs.  I think he loves the fact that
there are so many other dogs here to choose from.  When one playmate gets tired he just
moves on to the next.  Spoke is a typical one year old boxer boy who has energy to spare
he loves his toys and has discovered a entire toybox full to explore.  It was funny a couple
of days ago I found him laying in front of the toybox, his back legs stretched out behind him
like a frog, chin on the floor just staring longingly at the toys in the box.  Well I took one out
and gave it to him and he just ran and played like it was Christmas.  Since then he has taken
everyone of them out of the toybox one by one and played with them all.  Spoke went to
the vets the other day to be updated on his shots.  The visit went well except that he does
have a tendency to think he needs to protect the person holding the end of his leash.  I think
with some basic obedience training and reassurance this will be something that he will
outgrow.  The vet does want to take x-rays of his leg to see why it tends to turn out a little.
He does still limp on it some when he has been playing for a long time, but it doesn't slow
him down when he wants to run.  He goes for his x-rays on Tuesday, watch for the next
update.  Spoke can tell you of his next adventure.

6/17/04 Spoke arrived this weekend, he is a cutie as you can see from his pictures.  He is
an owner surrender who's family made the hard decision to give him up due to a change in
their living conditions.  Spoke has settled in nicely and is loving playing in the fenced yard
with all the other dogs.  He is a typical one year old boxer boy.  Full of energy and ready to
go whenever someone wants to play.  So far he has been great with the kids here and
seems to love them.  Although I would recommend older kids for this guy as he does love
to play a little roughly sometimes.  Spoke could use some obedience training but is learning
to crate very well.  Spoke has had a broken front leg due to being hit by a car several
months ago that his former family took good care of.  He is healing nicely and hardly limps
on it at all.  I expect that it will be good as new in another couple of months.  If you think
spoke might be right for your family get that application in today.  This boy won't be here
long.

Will send in an update tonight after we get to know him a bit.  We didn't get to know him
very much yesterday as he hid under the deck of the pool until 11pm.  LOL.  You got to
love fostering.  Judy
