UPDATE 9/12/05 - It's been a full year now that I've had Sirus!  Sirus has really
adapted well and is loving his home.  He always gets excited when friends come over,
and he especially thinks they are there to visit with him.  He does have some separation
anxiety issues (still), and goes to the bathroom on the floor, and has picked apart a plant
and then decided to rub the dirt into the carpet!  I got that cleaned up and decided he
was going to stay in his cage again for a few weeks while I was at work.  Sirus has really
come along other than that issue.  He enjoys our runs and hikes, and loves laying in the
back yard in the sun! He has learned that I need to leave him to go to work, and gets so
happy when I get home.  He snuggles up as close as possible when it's time for bed, and
sometimes I even have to push him over to the other side of the bed when he is pushing
up against me in the middle of the night.  He can't get close enough!  Not much else to
share.  His health is great and we defi
nitely enjoy each others company!  Thanks!

UPDATE 3/9/05 - Sirus is still doing great!  His peeing
in his cage is getting less and less, which is fantastic!  I love coming
home every day to an excited boxer instead of a scared boxer because he
knows he has peed in his cage.

I do wish that I could keep Sirus out of his cage during the day, but the
last two times I tried he caused alot of damage to my house.  Ripped the
leather couch, and peed and pooped all over the house, beds, in his water
bowl, and ruined alot of my carpet by dumping my trashcan all over the
place.  I am hoping to be able to work this out eventually because I hate
how he shakes when he's going into the cage, but for now I have to do it.  I
am really excited that I have Sirus, and I'm glad that he is settling in and
making my place his!
Thanks!

UPDATE 12/10/04 - Sirus is starting to feel at home!  In
his last update, I said he had started to slow down in wetting the cage, and
of course as soon as I said that he started right back up again for a few
days straight.  What I am learning is that I need to change my morning
routine constantly so that he doesn't know what is about to happen.  If he
knows that he's going to be in his cage soon he starts to freak out and
shake horribly.  I know it's from his past experiences and it makes me so
sad to see him do it.  I've been giving him some of the anxious medicine you
find at pet smart in the mornings before I leave, and I believe that also
helps him.

His personality is incredible.  He has to be right next to me all of the
time, and when I finally slow down for the evening he wants to sleep on my
lap!  I let him for a while, but when he starts to cut off the circulation
to my legs I have to make him get up for a bit!  He loves to play and gets
so excited when I get home from my day!  He really is a joy to have around.
Even more when he's not peeing in his cage!  He loves our walks in the
evenings too!  Obedience training just finished up and he is really becoming
an obedient dog.  I can leave him off the leash to walk to the car now, and
he stands right by my side.  It is great! I call him and he comes, tell him
to sit or down, and he does it!  I think I am even going to enroll in the
advanced level in the spring so we work more stuff off of the leash so I
have more confidence in Sirus and his obedience.

Sirus is a joy with me! He has not yet become overprotective, and only barks
when there's someone who comes in that he hasn't met.  After I re-assure him
he is back to wagging and smiling!  He is great!  Thank you!!

Sirus and I both thank you very much!

UPDATE 11/9/04 - Sirus is fitting in just perfectly!  He
loves to cuddle and if he isn't close enough, he'll get up and move closer!
He is starting to adjust to my schedule, but still hates to get out of bed
in the morning.  I have to call him and call him to get Sirus out of bed so
he'll eat breakfast.  He'll eat his breakfast as I'm packing lunch, and then
we go for a nice walk around the neighborhood before I go to work for the
day.  He was still peeing in his cage, but it is without a doubt nerves that
is making Sirus pee in his cage.  He can make it 10 hours overnight without
any trouble, and still won't get out of bed, but he was having trouble
making it 8-9 hours a during the day. He gets worried that I'm leaving him
for good, without a doubt.

But over the past week, he has settled down and has not peed in his cage.
His rash around his neck is getting better as well.  These are all little
things that need to be worked on, but overall he is doing great.  Obedience
training is going great with Sirus as well. He knew many commands already,
but he is picking up that I'm the boss and that I'm the law!  He has such a
great personality, and he's finally starting to shine in my home!  I believe
the obedience is also helping Sirus not get over protective of me or my
home.

I just had my 24th birthday and Sirus joined my girlfriend and I on a
birthday hike!  He did absolutely fantastic!!  He hope that he will continue
to enjoy our trips and that he will be a hiking dog in the future.  He
handled a few miles without any trouble, and wanted to go further but our
legs were starting to hurt so we had to stop!  He was so tired after the
hike that he fell asleep sitting up on the drive home!!  He was so much fun!

I do believe that Sirus is enjoying his new home, and I hope that he
continues on the path that he is taking now!  An obedient, fun loving,
huggable, happy dog that loves family and friends to visit and make him
smile even more!!

UPDATE 10/6/04 - Sirus is doing great so far in his new
home.  His dominance of the house has not shown through yet, and we are
working on barking at any neighbors and passer-by's on the street.  He
greets friends and family with a big boxer wiggle and has not seemed
agressive with anybody coming to the house.  I hope that continues and Sirus
will continue to work on that.  He starts Obedience training at the end of
the month, and we hope that will help him listen a little better too, but
it's not that he doesn't listen pretty well now.  We are still working on
jumping on the furniture (he must have been allowed in previous homes)
because leather couches don't take to claws very well!

He has had a few accidents here and there in the house and his crate, but in
reading his previous updates from other owners, it seems to be a common
trend. I started out just letting him free in only my kitchen during the
day, but the fact that my kitchen is carpeted and he is having an accident
here and there I had to start to crate him again.  I am not getting too
upset about it, because he is still new in this home, and I'm hoping that he
will grow out of that phase.  I do say "no... bad boy", just enough so he
knows he is not supposed to do that.  I am surprised by his accidents in the
crate (and the kitchen for that matter) because he goes a few times in the
morning before I leave for work and dogs do not normally go in a place where
they will be laying.  Needless to say he's needed a few extra baths!

He loves sleeping on my bed with me, and curls up as close as he can on the
cool nights to stay warm.  All-in-All, Sirus is turning out to be a great
addition to my house.  I hope he continues to grow in the manner he is now
and does not become over protective like previous homes.  I hope that his
obedience classes with me will allow him to listen a little better, and I
hope that his accidents become a little less as time passes by too!  Boxers
are the best, especially when the actually box you like Sirus does while
playing!  He punches so hard he gives bloody lips every now and then!!!!  He
must have taken training from Mike Tyson or something!!  But he is having  a
great time playing, laying around, and he loves laying in the warm sun on an
afternoon in the back yard!

Sirus and I thank you all!!

9/12/04 - Sirus has been adopted!

8/30/04 - Unfortunately Sirus' new home had to make the very tough decision to return
him back to us after 6 months.  Turns out as Sirus has matured he has become more
protective about strangers coming into the house & also in the neighborhood.  The home
he was in is on the much more active side with lots of people coming & going
unannounced, so they felt it was in the best interest of Sirus that he find a more
appropriate home for him.  Sirus is a sweet boy, did great with their kids in the home &
loved their other boxer too.  They really loved Sirus & it shows.

Sirus rode great in the car & just laid down for a nap with a fluffy toy in the back seat.
He has been great with me, little bit nervous as he doesn't know where he is yet, but
doing okay so far.  He slept in his crate last night without a peep & briefly met the cats
this morning & was just super curious with a look on his face as if to say "What are
THOSE THINGS!?".  Sirus had about the same reaction to my big cage of cockatiel
birds too--pure fascination on his side! :)  He is a gorgeous boy that just needs a home
with less activity & not in a super busy area/neighborhood.   Watch for more updates &
pictures soon of Sirus!

2/12/04 Sirus wants to know where his family is. He is ready for his forever home. Sirus
continues to do well here. He is fine with the other 4 girls, loves the kids and doesn't
care to much for the crate. Sirus does occasionally have an accident but over all does
very well. Sirus would love a family with lots of time to spend with him as he is still a
very young guy. Sirus needs to put on some weight and I think that will come easier
once he is settled in to his forever home. Are you the home for him?

2/9/04 Well Sirus was adopted for 24 hours. He did not get along with the male lab in
the house and would not leave him alone. I"m not sure what it is with him as he gets
along great with my 4 girls. Sirus loves kids and is wonderful with them. He would do
best in a home where there are kids and someone home most of the time. I guess either
female dogs or no dogs at all would be best. He is super sweet, smart and loving boy.

2/4/04 Sirus story goes, he was dumped at a shelter to be put to sleep because he was
not housebroken. The man was leaving him for over 14 hours a day and then was made
when he had gone in his crate. The shelter thought he was a nice boy, so called the all
breed lady we got him from. Sirus had such a severe urinary tract infection from trying to
hold it that it took forever to clear up. It is clear now and he has no accidents in his crate.
Sirus did well with his neuter. I don't think he even missed a step. Sirus is doing much
better in his crate even though he would rather not be there. He has had no accidents at
all in his crate. As far as the house, he likes to mark, he started with the vacuum cleaner.
When I keep a very close eye on him, he does well. I'm hoping that when the hormones
get out of his system that will help. Sirus loves the other dogs, unforunately no one will
play with him as they are all old fuddy, duddys. And Nellie the boston thinks he is to
much. Sirus plays well with toys and has the gentlest mouth ever. He takes treats without
even touching your hand. He is very good with the kids, but does like to jump and hug.
We are working on keep all 4 paws on the ground, but it is hard to get mad at his cute
face. All and all I think Sirus would do best with someone home alot, maybe another
dog and some kids to keep him busy.

Sirus arrived yesterday and what a cutie he is. He comes to us from a all breed rescue
person in Mass. I really don't know his story but will find it out soon. He was great for
the ride and enjoyed everyone he met. Sirus did wonderful in his crate last night, not a
peep out of him. He got to meet the 4 resident girls this am and had no issues with them
at all. He did not like when Nellie (Boston Terrier) barked at him  at all. Sirus does
know sit and paw. He also answers well to his name so I'm guessing he is an owner
surrender.  He went out to go to the bathroom and then off to the vets we went. Sirus
weighed 49 pounds, got a clean bill of health and stayed there for his snip, snip. We will
be picking Sirus back up in the am and will let you know as we get to know him better.
