7/6/04 Simon contines to do well at his foster
home.  He has gained so much confidence that he is a different dog.  Simon
loves our other foster dog, Carlton and can always be found playing with him
and seems to be very patient with him.  Simon is not crated anymore and has
been very good in the house with no accidents.  He is always in the window
waiting for us to come home and so happy to greet us.  Simon is always
looking for approval and needs lots of encouragement.  He looks at your with
those sad eyes of his and you just want to make it alright with him.  He is
very sweet and gives some kisses but is not an over-bearing dog.  He really
is a sweetheart and will certainly touch any heart.  He can always be found
waiting in the back of a pack for his treats.  He has so much patience and
just wants to be an important part of any families life.  I do believe that
Simon at some point in his life was heavy handed as he becomes nervous and
afraid if he feels that he has done something wrong.  He will need a home
that is kind and patient with him.  He feels guilty very quickly even if he
had nothing to do with a situation.  Simon is deserving of a great life and
we hope that he will be adopted by a family that will be devoted to him as
much as he will be to them.  We just love Simon and know that any family
that adopted him would see what a great dog and friend he will be.

5/15/04 Simon has gradutated out of his crate
during the work day and he seems so much happier and has given us no reason
to crate him when we are away.  He is right with his foster brothers and
sister for a big welcome when we come home.  He has also gotten much more
social at night as I feel he is relaxing more during the day so that he is
more active now in the evening.  He is doing a great job with it.  We still
put him in his crate with a peanut butter bone but now leave the door open.
I think the first day we did it, he was thinking we just forgot to lock the
door.  Fooled him didn't we? Simon is now sleeping on the loveseat at night
and seems to have settled into his foster home very nicely.  His favorite
playmate is our deaf girl Snowie.  He likes to play with her alot.
Yesterday, our other little foster girl Cleo was trying desperately to get
him to play by barking at him but he just wouldn't play with her.  Simon
needs to do things at his own pace which is okay as long as we are seeing
progress.  He loves to play with a soccer ball with his foster dad outside.
Simon played with me the longest one night this week when I was on the floor
with him.  He was just so happy and we both had a great time.  Simon is a
great dog and has been a real nice foster to have here for the second time.
He is so deserving of his own family who can give him the attention that he
needs and loves.  He just needs lots of patience but once he feels
comfortable, he will take a big part of your heart.

5/2/04  Simon continues to do well at his
foster home.  He has settled in very nicely and again we have fallen in love
with him.  Simon's confidence seems to be getting better but right now he is
still a very needy boy.  He is always looking for your approval and if that
is all it takes to help him that is easy.  He looks at you with those eyes
of his and it just about melts your heart.  He is eating twice a day and is
happy to show you what he knows for lots of treats.  He is crated during the
work day and it is not his most favorite place to hang out.  He will run to
the crate once he knows you have a peanut butter filled marrow bone but will
start to drool once he finds himself locked in.  I will try and see how he
does outside the crate for short periods to see if he really does need to be
in a crate and maybe perhaps he could be trusted with free roam of the
house.  He is usually so good that I can't imagine him not being good but we
will see how he does.  Simon has begun to play a little bit with his foster
brothers and sister but he quickly becomes scared that he has done the wrong
thing.  Simon will play with his foster dad and mom but again he doesn't
play long as he feels he is in trouble.  Simon loves dog beds and will
always find one to take a quick nap on.  Simon appears to be afraid of
children as a neighbor girl has come over a couple times to pet him while he
has was out on a tie out but he cowers to the ground so we will work on that
issue also. Simon has shown us that he is patient and will wait his turn for
any attention or treats.  Simon is a wonderful devoted dog who just needs
lots and lots of patience until he becomes accustom to the situation. We
were so proud of him this weekend as we had lots of visitors to the inn on
the lake.  He did wonderful and can reconize any true boxer lover in the
group. If you have lots of love to give this great dog, please get your
application in.  He is making lots of progress and should be ready soon.

4/29/04 Simon continues to do well at his
foster home.  He has settled in very nicely and again we have fallen in love
with him.  Simon's confidence seems to be getting better but right now he is
still a very needy boy.  He is always looking for your approval and it
almost seems like he is trying so hard to please.  He looks at you with
those eyes of his and it just about melts your heart.  He is eating twice a
day and is happy to show you what he knows for  lots of treats.  He is
crated during the work day and it is not his most favorite place to hang
out.  He will run to the crate once he knows you have a peanut butter filled
marrow bone but will start to drool once he finds himself locked in.  I will
try and see how he does outside the crate for short periods to see if he
really does need to be in a crate.  He is usually so good that I can't
imagine him not being good but we will see how he does.  Simon has begun to
play a little bit with his foster brothers and sister but he quickly becomes
scared that he has done the wrong thing.  We also have a new foster boy who
is really big into playing and they have played a couple times already.
Simon will play with his foster dad and mom but again he doesn't play long
as he feels he is in trouble.  Simon loves dog beds and will always find one
to take a quick nap on.  Simon appears to be afraid of children as a
neighbor girl has come over a couple times to pet him while he has been out
on a tie out but he cowers to the ground so we will work on that issue also.
Simon is a wonderful devoted dog who just needs lots and lots of patience
until he becomes accustom to the situation.  If you have lots of love to
give this great day, please get your application in.  He is making lots of
progress and should be ready soon.

4/14/04Simon is doing a great job adjusting to
life back at his foster home.  He is now with all six of the other boxers
here and doing wonderful.  He isn't playing with anyone yet but he will
follow either one of his foster parents anywhere.  He is a sweet dog and
will be very dedicated to the family that adopts him.  He is eating well and
has had no accidents in the house.  We are crating him during the day while
we are at work and he will go in just by asking him and then giving him a
reward either a peanut butter filled marrow bone or just a special dog
treat.  It's not his most favorite spot to be and will drool a bit but he
doesn't get himself all worked up.  We will continue to work on this with
him.  He seems to still be lacking some confidence but each day will get
better for him.  Right now, he is a needy boxer and what I mean by that is
that he needs alot of positive reinforcement given to him.  Which is fine,
if it makes him feel better about himself I can certainly work with him.  In
my own heart, I have a big spot for these needy guys.  He is sleeping in our
bedroom next to me on a dog bed on the floor.  He is so easy to have around
and he really has done very well so far.  We will take our time with him to
get him ready for his forever home.  He deserves a family of his own and a
more dedicated dog you will not find.  He needs patience, lots of love and
to be a part of a family.  He will make a great companion that's for sure.

4/10/04 Simon has returned to the Boxer'In on
the Lake today.  Simon was here in October of 2003 and was adopted but his
new parents thought it best for Simon if he came back as he was spending
alot of time in his crate and their life had gotten so busy. Simon looks
great and was well taken care of.  Simon was having trouble with other dogs
while he was on a leash so we will be working with him to get him over his
fears.  I think he was glad to see us and her certainly did remember us.  He
is nervous tonight but he has had a big day.  He rides great in the car and
we had some nice bonding time with me on our trip home. He has eaten a good
dinner tonight and enjoyed some time outside in the sunshine this afternoon
once we arrived home.  He has met all his foster brothers and sister through
the crate tonight and is handling all this really well.  We hope to build
his confidence and find him a great home.  Simon needs a home that will be
patient with him. He is a love and sometimes it almost seems like he tries
too hard.  It will be nice to see him adjust to life again here.  We will
keep you posted on his accomplishments.  He is a great looking boxer and
will do great in a home that wants to make him a big part of their life.

10/14/03 Simon has been adopted.

10/5/03 Simon is feeling much better after being neutered and brought up to date on his
vaccinations.  We are treating his ears for a bacteria and yeast infection.  One ear is still very
bothersome to him as it is still very swollen.  It is painful to him when we flush it and he cries
but once I put the medication in, it seems to settle down for him. Apparently it is an infection
that he has had for sometime and should come along slowly. Simon continues to be very well
behaved.  He is like my shadow and I am trying to give him some much needed attention.  We
are still working on the crate.  When he gets nervous he drools and will do this in the crate.  I
really think that we will start to see an improvement for him in there as he gets more use to it.
He has to learn that we will always come back for him.  I have noticed that if I scold him about
something that he will become afraid and crouch down to the floor.  I try not to make a big
deal about it and just encourage him that it is okay.  Today when I was outside and he was
inside with the other dogs that a piece of a plant broke off and when I picked it up to throw it
away, he became afraid and hit the floor.  I wasn't making a big deal about it but he was very
willing to take the blame and I felt bad for him.  So, we will work on getting his confidence
level up.  He is just a great guy and needs a family to call his own.  He wants to be a big part
of their life thats for sure.  He continues to do well with his foster brothers and sister but still
isn't playing with them.  He does play with his foster dad and seems to enjoy it but it is not a
full boxer playtime yet.  Simon does do a great kidny bean dance and is so happy when I get
home from work.  He has done alot of adjusting his first week in foster care and I really
believe that as he settles in each day will get better for him.  Simon will need a home with lots
of love and patience as he learns about his new life.  He is going to make some lucky family
very happy.

10/3/03 Hi everyone, it's Simon.  I came home tonight from the veterinary hospital after being
neutered.  I am not feeling my best but my foster mom is spoiling me.  I'm sure I will feel better
tomorrow.  I have a terrible ear infection and it is really bothering me.  I have some medication
to put in them but they just don't feel right and I also know that the girls at the vets cleaned
them out really good.  I had a bath last night and I was such a good boy.  My foster mom kept
telling me just how good I am.  All my foster brothers and sister kept coming into the tub area
to check on me.  Max was talking because he gets jealous.  He is too funny.  I slept in my
foster mom and dad's bedroom last night on a dog bed and that was alot of fun.   It was like a
slumber party.  Again, I was just a good boy.  The girls at the vets office loved me alot.  They
couldn't believe that I was so well behaved.  I went into the crate with no big problems after
giving one of the lab techs a little kiss.  They tell me I'm the sweetest thing around.  Well, I
have to go and catch some shut eye.  I am still very sleepy.  I'll let you know how I am
tomorrow.  Oh and don't forget - I am looking for my new forever home so don't forget about
me if you are thinking about adopting one of our great boxers in rescue.

9/30/03 Boxer'In on the Lake has a new guest and his name is Simon.  He had a late arrival
last night so we are just getting through our first day.  Simon is a 3 year old fawm male, with a
black mask, white chest, natural ears and docked tail.  He has a little bit of white on each foot.
Simon has an appointment at the vets on Thursday to be neutered (which he badly needs as
he is loving our 8 year old boxer Yogi)and also needs his ears checked as they are bothering
him. Simon is an owner surrender as the family situation changed and they could not give him
all the attention that he needs and deserves.  He lived with an 8 year old boy and I believe that
they were best of friends. He did fairly well last night in his crate.  It's not his favorite but he did
a real good job in there today while we were at work.  He does a little drooling once in the
crate but it will get better for him each day.  He is now in general public with all his foster
brothers and sister and has no issues with them so far.  He isn't playing with them yet but he
will when he is ready.  The owner said that he has not had any contact with other dogs so we
are real pleased on his progress.  He is a good eater and eats kibbled with a little water and a
spoon of can to make it good for him.  He is a love and has beautiful eyes that are very
expressive.  He has done really well with his first full day of foster care.  Simon is on the small
side but I would think he would weigh around 48 - 50 pounds.  We have been putting him on
the run outside until he gets neutered.  I really expect Simon to do very well and he will make a
great addition to any home and family.  He is so much more confident tonight than he was last
night.  This is a really nice dog so I hope he is just what you have been waiting for.  If you think
he might be, get that application filled out because he won't be here long.
