UPDATE 3/26/05 - Sheba here, it's been one year since I left N.J and came to N.H. to my
forever home and I'm still here finally.... found a family who will put up with my Jekyll and
Hyde personality, friendly, tender, sweet and affectionate if you are on two legs but forceful
and aggressive if you have four legs.
Went for my yearly checkup and shots all is well I'm healthy, lost four lbs since Dec 2004 but
the vet said she's not worried even though mom was and asked a hundred questions.
I have had frequent test runs over this last year as to my trustworthiness on being left uncrated
in the finished basement. The results were always the same.....numerous accidents.
Well, last month mom was overwhelmed with school/work that she lost her mind for a minute
while running late for clinical and forgot to crate me!!
I was alone in the house for over 8 hours and didn't do anything bad. I hung out, played with
toys, and slept on their bed (o.k., one bad thing, I'm not allowed up there).     Mom was so
happy and relieved I didn't mess the house she said it was o.k I was on the bed, I even got to
sleep there that night.
From that day forward I am no longer crated when they leave and I'm allowed to sleep on the
bed when they are gone (who's gonna tell me not too!) I'm a big girl now!!!
Mom says she is so pleased that I can be free, she thought of numerous theories as to why I
suddenly took a turn for the better such as;
#1-The basement is not our true "living quarters", so that is why I felt like I could mess down
there.
#2-I'm not scared upstairs because I can't hear the basement noises (the furnace)
#3- It's colder down there than upstairs ( even though it's finished and heated)
#4- ETC.........
The true fact of the matter is I'm finally comfortable here, I feel loved, secure, safe and I know
someone is coming home to me at the end of the day.
Thank you for a Second Chance, Love Sheba

UPDATE 11/2/04 - Sheba here, Six months and I am adjusting fine here, I still can't be
trusted to be left out alone and my mom feels sad about that because she would rather leave
me out than in a crate, I know it's time to go in when I get to lick the spoon with peanut butter
on it, and then I hear the command, " Crate up"  I run in there as fast as I can because I know
that the peanut butter bone is not far behind.

Mom took me to private lessons for my behavior issues around other animals ( dogs, cats,
birds, squirrels and my new favorite deer!) besides my normal six week Obedience training. I
learned that I now have to walk with a choke coller, and boy does mom know how to use that
to control me, but yeah! no more muzzle when we got to the pond for walks.

I went on a canoe trip over fourth of July weekend which was fun, I would walk from side to
side in this small boat rocking it back and forth. I leaned over a little too far one time to drink
from the river and I heard mom holler because we almost all went for a swim!
I went camping in the white mountains where I discoverd deer! We were supposed to be quiet
and just watch but they looked so fun and free I wanted to chase them. I made a rackett and
our sightseeing excersion was cut short. At nights I was really interested in the fire and would
stare at it for long periods while curled up on my green beag bag from home. I discovered I
like my hot dogs cooked over an open flame instead of cold.
All in all life has been good here, I think I have found my forever home!
Thank you for giving me a Second Chance, Love Sheba

UPDATED 4/25/04 - Sheba is adjusting well to her new home aside from the occasional
accident the first two weeks she was here. As of this weekend, she still cannot be trusted to be
alone in the house even for a half-hour because she will have an accident. She does not prefer
to go in her crate but will, with a nudge and a reward, she is fussy too with the treats, they
have to be soft and small, her favorites are the snausages (sp?). She sits and high fives for it
then ever so gently takes the treat from your hand. She also gives hugs, which is where she will
gently jump up and wrap her arms around our waists while getting a rub down.
I took her to the vet where our only issue was we had to leave by the side door because she
does not like other dogs and cannot control herself around them. She got all her shots,
heartworm, and frontline and weighed in at 51 lbs. The vet said to feed her as much as she
wants to eat, and I'm proud to say she since then she has gained 1.6 lbs and the sight of her
skin pulled taunt across her ribs is fading more each day.
We start at obedience school on Monday, although she is excellent on a leash, thanks to her
past owners, Christie and Brian, for all their hard work. I am anxious to learn how to control
her behavior when she sees other dogs so we can go for more walks at the park and not have
to hide fifteen feet off the trail up in the woods when we see another dog. She is great around
people and KIDS!! loves those little ones, I tried to have her meet two other boxers, but she
didn't like her own kind either, oh well, she likes us and that's all I care about!! The camping
season is almost here so stay tuned for more updates on her summer trips.

UPDATED 3/27/04 - Sheba has been adopted!

3/17/04 Hi my name is Sheba I am back on the Second Chance Boxer Rescue website again
because I need a new home.  I have been living with my Mommy and Daddy that adopted me
back in November of last year.  They love me so much, and always tell me I am the best, but,
me and my sister just can’t get along so I need a home where there are no other animals. I
need a home where I can be “Queenâ€.   And you better believe I am bringing my
favorite squeaky toy, my batman blanket, and my blue and black snakeskin jacket because I
love to play dress up and that is my favorite jacket.  I am a hang out dog, I love to just hang
out, and I would like especially if you rubbed my ears when I lay down….Please!!!  That puts
me right to sleep.  And if I am not playing, or watching T.V. (Nascar Channel) I am sleeping.
Mommy and Daddy say I get so comfortable sometimes I look like I am part of the rug.  I
love to play with kids too, my Mommy and Daddy say I am so good with kids of all ages I
have a two year old cousin here and I love to play with him cause he plays catch with me and
he never gets tired, unlike Mommy and Daddy!! My Mommy and Daddy now are the best
too, they taught me how to walk on a leash when I came home, otherwise, I look like I was in
a dog sled race.  But, I walk nice now, they take me on such long walks I like to look at
everything…you can’t do that when your running silly!!  And I was a lot faster then them
anyway they could never keep up!! Ha ..Ha..No offense Mom and Dad..  Oh, and you know
that thing that doggie parents always try to teach their dogs, that, oh what is it called again…..
wait…I will remember it….Oh, that command “ Give me pawâ€  Ha…I am way too
cool for that.  If you tell me to give you five, I slap that little paw right on your hand!!  I am just
too cool…  Well got go now my mom says, she wants to write you guys a message… so talk
to you soon, and be sure to check all my pictures…even the Christmas one, with my Santa
hat, my mom says I can take that to my new home so I can wear it next year for Santa..
Bye---Bye….

Message from Mom and Dad:  Our Sheba is the best, we love her with all of hearts, and we
would love for her to stay, she is the best dog you could ever ask for but, we have two
females that just don’t want to get along.  She has made a wonderful addition to our family
and I am sure that she will make footprints in the heart of whoever’s life she graces next…

Sheba's family loves her but their other dog & Sheba started fighting a few months ago and
have not been able to work out their differences. Sadly, they need us to find Sheba a new
home. Unfortunately this sometimes happens even when dogs seem compatible at first.

12/3/03 -SHEBA IS DOING WONDERFULLY! SHE IS A DOLL! HER AND OUR
OTHER BOXER ARE THE BEST OF FRIENDS. WE ARE CLOSELY MONITORING
HER WITH THE VET BECAUSE THE VET SAYS SHE IS A LITTLE SKINNY AND
HE WANTS HER A LITTLE CHUBBIER, SO HE PUT HER ON VITAMINS AND ALL
THAT HEALTHY STUFF! WELL WHEN SHE FIRST CAME HOME SHE WAS
TERRIBLE ON A LEASH SHE PULLED SO HARD SHE COULD BE ON A DOG
SLED RACE, BUT NOT NO MORE SHE WALKS WITH THE LEASH DANGLING
BY HER SIDE!
SHE ALSO SITS ON COMMAND, AND SIT AT THE CORNERS WHEN WE LOOK
BOTH WAYS TO CROSS THE STREET, COOL RIGHT! IN FACT SHE HAS MADE
HER SELF SO AT HOME THAT LAST NIGHT WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE SHOWER
THERE WAS NO ROOM FOR ME ON THE BED, BETWEEN BRIAN, ROXY &
SHEBA...

SHEBA WILL BE STARTING "DOG'S BEST FRIEND" TRAINING ACADEMY IN
TWO WEEKS FOR A SIX WEEK PROGRAM AND I WILL LET YOU KNOW HOW
THAT GOES! SOME OF THE STUPID CUTE LITTLE THINGS THAT WE HAVE
DEVELOPED AS WE GOT TO KNOW
HER AS WELL AS SHE DID US IS THAT WE HAVE MANY KNICKNAMES FOR
HER, SINCE SHE IS THE ONLY DOG THAT I HAVE EVER HAD THAT LOVES
"SQUEAKY TOYS" WE CALL HER SQUEAKER, LIKE IN THE MOVIE "ALL DOG'S
GO TO HEAVEN", AND THE BEST ID "THUMPER" BECAUSE WHEN SHE
SCRATCHES SHE THUMPS HER FOOT ON THE FLOOR LIKE A RABBIT!! SHE
ALSO HAS BEEN TO THE VET AND THE GROOMERS AND SHE LOVES BOTH, I
THINK SHE LIKES THE GROOMERS MORE CAUSE SHE PUT THESE HOME
MADE COLLAR COVERS ON FOR WHATEVER SEASON IT IS AND SHE LOVES
THEM!! WELL WE LOVE HER AND WE WILL BE IN TOUCH
SOON!! THANKS AGAIN.

11/11/03 - Sheba was great in our 6 1/2 hour car ride home, she loves to look out the
window of the car and if she is not doing that she snoring. We brought her home to Linden, NJ
on Sunday where she met her boxer sister Roxy for the first time. They were a little critical
about each other at first but,now a little over a week later, they love each other. In fact last
night we watch them tease each other with a rope toy. Sheba was not such a great walker on a
leash when we brought her home and because she is a Daddy's Girl and he is such a good
trainer, she does not pull on the leash anymore and we are now teaching her to sit down at the
corner before we cross the street to go to the park. she is getting it. One thing I have to say
about Sheba is she is a wonderful, fun-loving, and smart dog. How she didn't have a home
already I can't believe to understand. When we first decided to adopt a dog we accepted that
it would be alot harder on us then to bring home a puppy that you can train from day one and
get them accustomed to your way of life. But, to give a dog a "Second Chance" at a life that
they deserve to live is a wonderful decision and an experience you will never be able to forget.
We would like to Thank Second Chance Boxer for bringing Sheba into our lives, We know it
has only been a little over a week that we have had her but, it took her minutes to leave a
permanent impression in our hearts. P.S. Roxy says thanks for her new best friend!!!

11/3/03 Sheba was adopted!!

10/30/03-----Hi all, Sheba here again...my foster mom said I could write to tell you all the
great news...I am going home!!! My new family is from New Jersey and they are driving up
this weekend to get me!!! I am so excited,...foster mom says that I must have springs in my
feet,....I'm just hopping up and down...I'm going to have a boxer sister too......I'm ready to go,
all I really need is my favorite squeaky toy!!!
.....pssst ...maybe they'll let me try champagne...shhhhh, not too loud!!! foster mom says dogs
can't drink champagne...she'll never know........

10/27/03- Hi there !!!  it's me!! Sheba !! We have discovered that I will not be very good at
all with cats....I just have too high a prey drive..that's the technical term that my foster mama
uses anyways,...I think what she is trying to say is that I "love" cats...and would just love to
catch me one!!!....so mama thinks we had better let you all know this. I know that my forever
family is just waiting out there....call now, please...cos' I really want my very own home...I
would just love to share your Thanksgiving turkey and I want to hang my stocking up beside
my family's on Christmas Eve. And I want to toast in the New Year with them too!!!...think I
could have champagne? ....ooops...Foster Mom is reading over my shoulder,...she said no
champagne for me!!! I'm sweet, loveable, cute, smart and I have a "wicked good" butt wiggle
going for me too!!! You should oughta see my bearskin rug act and my horseshoe walk...this is
where I get so excited that I walk sideways all wiggly and semi- circled.....My foster dad
thinks that with a bit more training I could actually turn myself inside out with joy!!! I would
love to do this for you!!!

10/20/03- Sheba has returned to rescue due to some Houdini like actions. It seems that Sheba
likes to scale fences and her family felt that she was not suited to them. She will need to go to a
forever home that is willing to provide immediate obedience training. She needs to learn
boundaries and to know that her humans will limit her wanderings. She may need to be kept
on a dog-run or leash walked until she understands.Sheba is still the same little sweetheart that
we loved when she was here two months ago.  More to come as Sheba settles in at The
Upperfield once more...I don't think she will be here very long...she's as pretty and smart, as
she is sweetnatured. We will just enjoy her while she's here...Get your applications in
quick....!!! Everyone is sure to fall in love with this little girl!!

9/8/03 - Hi Everyone, We are thrilled with the completion of our newest family member,
Sheba. She is the most lovable dog ever! Sheba is definetly the Queen of the house, with her
own blankets and pillows at night. Sheba has the biggest puppy dog eyes and you can't help
but pat her or talk to her whenever she is underfoot.
Sheba is calm, very gentle, and very affectionate. She has filled out tremendously already and
other than a slight ear infection, has a clean bill of health. Her coat is becoming shinier and her
skin less loose. Sheba is very active, loves to play, and seems to be getting stronger by the
day. She teases our other dog with what looks to be sibling rivalry.  Sheba is getting used to
the daily walk in the evening with the gentle leader. She loves to play with stuffed animals and
any squeaky toys. When in a vehicle, Sheba simply lays down and enjoys the ride. Her latest
adventure was an afternoon in the White Mountains on Kangamangous Highway trails.  Sheba
is truly a diamond in the rough and a lifelong friend for all of us. It it difficult to imagine what life
would be like without her!

9/5/03 - Hi I'm Sheba's Dad, I'll be the first to provide an update, but each family member will
also be adding his or her own comments. I first have to thank SCBR; the entire experience of
the adoption was fantastic. The value and professionalism that SCBR provided throughout the
process and in selecting a perfect
addition to our family is greatly appreciated.  It is just under a month since we brought home
Sheba, but she has fit in so well its hard to remember the fact that she has only been with us for
a short time. It took about 10 days for her to establish herself with Lucky, our 3 year-old male
boxer, and to get into our routine. She is everything that Lucky is not. She brings a quiet,
gentler love to us. She knows how to work her bring brown puppy eyes to get what she
wants. It is really fun to watch how our two boxer kids interact. After they worked out their
own pecking order, they really do act like siblings - trying to get each other going or in trouble.
Lucky seems amused watching Sheba do some things he knows will get her in trouble, and
then he runs over to tell her "I told you so". Sheba loves to play "finders/keepers" with our
daughter's favorite toy; Lucky knows better and has outgrown this. She howls, he barks. He
growls during play, she mounts. He prefer to play with
us, she prefers to cuddle. He sleeps alone, she promptly gets up at 8:30 PM and heads into
our daughter's bed. Burying her head under the covers. Lucky doesn't like getting dirty or wet;
she'll roll in the mud. She plops down like a bear skin rug, he prefers to sit. He likes the
frisbee, she a squeaky toy. Sheba's tail makes 200 rpms when she sees any of us, Lucky's
goes from left to right. They also play this game together when they go walking. Each one tries
to catch the other's tail on the leash and then pull forward, kind of a "tag your it" game.  When
Sheba arrived she was skin and bones. She has basically the same fawn color and markings as
Lucky, but when compared side to side you could tell she needed some help and love to
regain her natural beauty. She is now starting to fill out and has learned from Lucky how to
earn two doggie treats at a time. At first, she did not know what some of the treats were, but
after watching Lucky swoop in to snatch them up while she tried to
figure them out she now inhales them and asks for more. Her favorite meal is tuna, chicken,
and pepperoni for breakfast on Sundays.  She's been to the vet and received high marks. Her
nose job is complete and beauty was left in tact. She had a minor ear infections, but that has
been treated and she is doing great. Her shots are now up to date, but we are still missing her
medical records and proof of rabies shots. All for now except for the pictures and slide show.

From Lizzie:  Sheba has been doing great with our other dog ,Lucky. We have all gotten
attached to her.She loves playing with Lucky outside or in.She sleeps with me, and every night
at 8:30 she's up in my bed sleeping for at least a half hour. She's a very cuddly little lady. She's
not as skinny as she used to be when we got her. I love her, all my 5th grade friends are
jealous of her.

8/9/03- Sheba has found her forever family...true love for her new 10 year old skin sister Liz!!
Sheba and Liz started a mutual fan club immediately. Liz and her Daddy gave Sheba a
beautiful new squeaky toy and Sheba gave her approval by picking it up and not wanting to
give it up again...she did however when her new dad and new sister told her to "drop it" and
threw it for her, all in all a very happy Mom, Dad and sister...Sheba climbed into their car,
curled up on the seat and never looked back...We will miss her sweet little face and funny
ways...she was great at the bear skin rug act,!!!all 4 legs straight out...A little snuggle bunny....

8/6/03- Sheba is pending adoption

8/6/03- Sheba has had a nose job!!! Not the whole nose..just the little lump...her nose was far
too cute to change in any way!!! And guess what!!!! Sheba's new family phoned tonight and
are going to take her home on Saturday...I explained this to her and her main concern is "can
she take her favorite toy with her?" Of course she can!!! You see Sheba is addicted to
squeaky toys and will carry one around with her where ever she goes...at first she tried to
snitch Rocky's little alligator...he very quickly told her that was a big no-no!!! So I scrounged
around in the toy basket and came up with a squeaky bone and she doesn't let it out of her
sight now!!! Sheba will have a 3 year old fur-brother, and he's a boxer!!! and a  10 year old
skin-sister in her forever home....That put a big smile on her face!!! She's packing her stuff and
she's raring to go home! Only three days and counting down....We will miss this little darling...
she has been a very pleasant guest!

08/03/03-Sheba's name has been changed back, she does not know Sabrina at all and still
answers to Sheba....
She has a small lump on her nose that needs to come off. We have an appointment for
Tuesday. Her swollen eyes seem to be an allergic reaction to something , very likely whatever
flea powder was used on her...It must have been very recent , as when you pat her she emits
clouds of it from her fur, and smells of insecticide ...I can't really bathe her very well, as her
spay scar is very fresh ( or irritated from the powder ). I washed that area and around her eyes
and face with baby wipes and gave her a benadryl...in a 3 to 4 more days I can bathe her...
and three days after that apply Frontline...I'm assuming she must have fleas, if someone went
to all that trouble with the powder.
The good news is, ...that she is great with my two year old son !!! She was so wonderful at
the vet's that the doc and her assistant were ooohing and aaaahing over how well behaved and
sweet she is!!!...So far has been very good with my little girls, shared a bowl with Maggie the
shitzu (by accident) this morning. No food aggressions! Loves my eight year old neighbor,
Jenny. And follows Brody the big boxer boy around like his shadow. Loves to play with toys
of any kind....she does bark quite a lot in her crate, the squirt bottle is working on that
already....  We will try her with Rocky and do a cat test after that...K.J.(Cracker) will be the
last...she's a bit of a "prima donna" about other females...Sheba is a sweet little snuggler!! Stay
tuned for more updates on this little cutie....get your applications in quick....

7/7/03- Sabrina gets along great with all the dogs that are her size or larger.  Sabrina does not
like little dogs or cats and will pin them down and growl,we have not let her go further then
that. She had kennel cough upon arriving and is currently being treated for it.  She loves to play
tennis ball and will bring it back to you if she wants to,otherwise she holds onto it and runs.
She loves cuddling with you and gives you kisses anytime. She snuggles into her blanket and
hides her head when sleeping. When she goes on her walks she will pull but listens very well
when you say easy and stays by you, shes definitly a pleaser!! Sabrina also attaches herself to
you very quickly getting very wiggley when you come back in the room after leaving.  She
would make a great loyal friend who is quiet and snuggley inside and playful outside.
