1/6/05 - Just over 2 months have gone by since I decided to give Sebastian his "last chance"
here at my Home for Wayward Boxers (or as some call it: "Home for Crazy White Boxers").
I have seen giant improvements with Sebastian & he is much better & less snappy when he
does not get his way.  I can now tell him to drop something he should not have or leave
something alone (he is a chewer!) and he will most of the time back off now or leave it
without a grumble.  Every so often he gets stubborn still & trys to see how far he can push it,
but I am killing him with kindness & love & letting him know he still will not get away with
things though.  Our "mini battles" continue (luckily a lot less frequently) like when he will
sometimes PEE on something I make him leave & will growl as he does it!  That is still a
huge improvement from 2-3 months ago when he would have just stood over that same item
& growled & snapped at me, with no chance of getting it away from him.

He still enjoys all the spoils here, including sleeping in bed every night.  Now he has even
copied Sandi & loves to be UNDER all the covers!  Good thing he is not a huge boy & I
love cuddly dogs! :)  Sebastian is definitely a "Momma's Boy" now.  He gets excited to see
me come home from work, he follows me everywhere in the house (me go to the bathroom
alone? Not going to happen!-LOL), he will snuggle much more now too & loves to have his
ears & head rubbed & back scratched.  You can see his eyes are soft looking now & I do
not get a dark stare anymore.  Even when he grumps about something, he will often snort &
yawn, like he is just a grumpy old man inside that little, young body & has to tell you how
unhappy he is about your decision!  If he wants my attention he will also snort/fake sneeze
many times in a row.  It is his way of "talking" to me that I am either ignoring him or need to
hurry up with whatever we are about to do (ex: going for a ride or going outside).

I think Sebastian & Sandi are in love!  They do a funny little dance quite often where she will
bow, then he copies her, he will sneeze/snort & shake his head, she will shake her head
back, they will circle each other all playfully with their heads held high, then a few play boxes
with the front feet.  It is almost in unison, like they planned it out ahead of time each time they
do this "dance"!!  I have to hold back my laughing or they will stop. :)

Funny thing is Sebastian reminds me very much like Sandi when I fostered her & ended up
adopting her due to being unplaceable due to attitude too.  They are like long lost twins in
many ways.  I see the same potential in Sebastian that took many months to come out in
Sandi, that's why I decided he should stay here.  I know he will only get better with time &
love & as trust continues to be given to him.  It is not an easy road ahead, but I feel
Sebastian is worth every minute of his grumpy, stubborn, spoiled little boxer brat attitude he
tries to give! :)

10/27/04 - Well, Sebastian has found his home right here!  He is not an easy dog to live with
and needs a lot of training and to learn to respect his owner.  I am making progress very
slowly with him, but I know he is not a placeable dog.  I had even made an appointment to
put him down due to his issues, but his sweetness that IS in him somewhere does come out
enough to have tugged at my heart extra hard.  Deep down I can see in his eyes Sebastian
WANTS to be good, it just seems he just cannot help himself.  Sebastian has severe
dominance and needs to learn that he does not have to be bad to get his way.  He loves my
cats & my other SCBR dog, Sandi.  Condor & he have a little working out of their place in
the house to still do, but I think they will get it settled soon.  Sebastian loves cuddling in bed
at night & sleeps at my feet if I am on the computer or on the couch when it is time to relax
for the night (what a life, huh!?). LOL

9/27/04 - Unfortunately Sebastian's new home made the tough decision to send him back to
SCBR to find a new home.  Sebastian has matured into a more dominant boy then they
could handle.  He will take advantage of someone who is not firm with him & needs a home
where he is not allowed to get away with having things only his way.  Sebastian is a very
friendly boy & gets along great with the cats & dogs here & loves everyone he meets.  He
loves children, but due to his dominance he would do best with kids 10 & up.  Do you have
a spot in your heart & home for this cutie?

UPDATED 4/14/04 - It is very clear that Bailey (our lab) is Sebastian's twin separated at
birth. They are inseparable, yes, I believe it is love. We were so afraid when they met that it
would not work (Bailey was petrified of Sebastian), that all changed within hours, they
compliment each other perfectly. We are all getting to know each a little bit better each day.
Julie's suggestions on introducing our cat have definitely helped, although I think it will take a
bit of time. Joanna was so right in her assessment of Sabbie, he is a quite rough and vocal in
his play, but he's a sweetie. His bladder infection has cleared up, he goes for his first full
physical with our vet on Friday. He is signed up for clicker classes that began on 4/24. We
feel so fortunate that our match seems to be going so well and that Sebastian seems to be so
happy with his forever home.

UPDATED 4/3/04 - Sebastian has been adopted!

3/17/04 Sebastian is felling more comfortable here at his foster home and coming out of his
shell. He is showing us how playful and smart he is. It seems like every day we discover
another trick he knows. So far we have found out he knows how to shake hands, lay down,
roll over and stand up on his hind legs. It is also apparent that he loves children. He wants to
play with my son all the time but he is a little rough and needs to learn to be more gentle. He
has never lived with children before so I think he just needs to learn what is and what is not
ok. Sebastian is a wonderful boy and we are having a great time playing with him. If you
think he might be the right dog for you get your application in today

Sebastian has arrived safely at his foster home and is settling in nicely. He has decided that
my nine year old son is just the coolest thing he has ever seen and follows him every
where. He is a great dog who has a lot of love to give to the right family. I'm sure it won't
take long for Sebastian to find his forever home.

Look how smart I am! I can stand on my back legs, shake with both paws, down on
command and roll over! I hope my new family will take me to lots of classes because I have
a lot of potential as an agility dog
