8/26/04- Sam is doing just fine here in his foster home, but is wondering
why his forever family hasn't found him yet...He is sweet and a perfect
gentleman....Sam will need to have someone that doesn't need to crate
him, which is okay as he does wonderfully out of the crate, we leave him
the run of the house all day while we work and he is perfectly happy with
that!!....Sam is good with cats...not so great with other dogs, he merely
tolerates everyone here except the puppy...she can get him playing and
running...His only problem appears to be his absolute fear of being
abandoned or locked up....he doesn't like to have the door shut in his face
and will cry and cry....He has the total run of our home...including sleeping
upstairs with us...he will sneak onto the bed once we are asleep and curl
up at our feet....He doesn't take up very much room..honest!
Overall, Sam is an absolute joy to have around and I think we can put his
little quirks down to being abandoned and allowed to waste away to
almost nothing...I know his forever family is out there just waiting for a
gentlemanly boxer boy to add to their home.....

7/23/04 - Sam is starting to gain more weight here at his foster home. He
has a long ways to go...Sam is on the road back to health. He is very
affectionate and just loves to play kissy face with whomever's face he can
reach. I have learned that Sammy did not have demodex mange at all, he
had some sort of dermatitus and is making a full recovery. (only a few
bald patches left). Sam loves cats and has obviously lived with them in the
past. Sammy also loves to be near his humans...just as close as
possible...he is a major leaner. Sam is also the very first foster dog we
have allowed to sleep upstairs with us at night. He has his own bed right
beside ours, but somehow every morning when we wake up he is
stretched out on our bed...LOL ..how does that happen? He has a new
nickname..."Samboni"...cause he's rather bony looking and will make a
clean sweep of the floor looking for food....making my linoleum as clean
and sparking as ice....(and almost as slippery after he gets done licking
around everyone's food bowl!)
More to come on this handsome gentleman!!!

7-12-04   I picked up Sam at a really wonderful shelter yesterday
afternoon and let me tell you it was worth the trip! Sam is a true
gentleman! He listened to me complain all the way home about the flat
landers driving abilities and never once argued with me ( I love a good
listener!) He has been out on good behavior since his arrival, although we
are trying to get him used to a crate, this will be a slow process and he will
get plenty of treats for learning, meanwhile we don't want to make him
afraid of the crate so will not rush him!...He doesn't appear to have any
issues with other dogs, however we have had no face to face encounters
as of yet. There has been a lot of play bows and tails a waggin' thru the
baby gates though.
Sam is recovering nicely from demodex mange and also was allowed to
get very thin prior to his arrival at the shelter. The shelter has added a
good amount of weight to this poor guy...but he still has quite a ways to
go! Sam is on special food for allergies and the shelter was kind enough to
provide us with a couple of bags to get us started. Sam was truly loved by
the ladies at the shelter, in fact the word may be spoiled rotten !! He
definately deserves to be spoiled!
More to come on this handsome fawn boxer boy....We certainly welcome
him to the Upperfield B&B and think that he will be the perfect guest!!!
