3/5/04 - Rocky went to the vet this morning to get a check-up & his shots updated. He
did great at the office & loved everyone he met! They all said how sweet & cute he was
& such a great boy. Rocky didn't even flinch when they took his blood for the
heartworm test or gave him all his shots. He is now all up to date & came back negative
on his heartworm test too--yeah! He only weighed 52 lbs but he is skinny, so he sure
won't be above 60 lbs when he is filled out.
Rocky rides well in the car & likes to just either sit or lay down in the passenger seat,
waiting to get wherever he is going. He listens pretty well & is not a wild & crazy boy.
He seems very smart & eager to please. I couldn't find him the other day in the house so
I just said "Rocky come!" one time & boy, he ran into the room where I was at 100 miles
an hour with a worried look on his face as if to say "What happened?! Did you need
me?!". He had a bath last night & he was great with that too. I have a corner shower
unit (no bathtub) & I just opened the door & asked him to go in & he did! Now if his
easy going personality would only rub off on my 2 dogs... LOL
This Rocky is a prize catch that is now ready to venture onto his new home & new life!
3/4/04- Rocky has been here a few days now & boy is he really as good as I thought he
was when I first met him! He loves both of my dogs, male & female, & is getting along
well with my cats too. Rocky showed some interest in what the big cage of cockatiel
birds was all about, but was very mellow about it. He just stuck his nose against the cage
& sniffed & watched them as if he was fascinated by them, but not wanting to hurt them
at all.
Rocky has done well in his kennel & is use to going in now with just a little direction. He
still constantly "wiggles" all over the place, but not in a hyper, annoying way--just he's
always happy! :) He does need to pack on a few more pounds as he is very skinny, but
he won't be anymore than 60-65lbs probably after he fills out some. Rocky goes
tomorrow to have all his shots updated & general look over by the vet. If all goes well
there, he should be good to go!
2/29/04 - Rocky arrived today thanks to Sabine for picking him up on her way home this
weekend. He is a beautiful dark brindle 3 year old neutered boy with natural ears &
docked tail. He is an owner surrender because they found after having their second child
they just did not have enough time to spend with him as they felt he deserved. They
loved him a lot & wanted what was best for Rocky. He got along great with their kids &
other dogs & people, but they did not know how he would be with cats. Rocky met a
few cats tonight & was great--couple of gentle sniffs & tail nub wagging & he did not
care about them. My big cat even gave him the "one-two punch" he does to all new
foster dogs that sniff him & Rocky just backed away immediately without a fight. Rocky
just needs to go to the vet to update his shots this week & he will be ready for his new
home soon. He's such a sweet guy & constantly wiggling his tail nub & butt--he has the
cutest squishy face too! Rocky won't be here long...
