11/6/04 It is with much sadness and a very heavy heart that I let all of you know that Pumpkin went to the bridge today. Her little body just couldn't fight the infection. She has a compromised immune system. She passed in her sleep with a loving staff with her. I was on the way to see her but did not get there in time. She made a huge impression on my family and many people. She will be sadly missed by all.

11/5/04 Pumpkin had a major set back yesterday. As I was getting ready for work I noticed that she was having problems breathing. I rushed her to the vet and she was in shock. She was freezing cold, couldn't breath. They rushed her to x-ray which showed her lungs full of fluid and an enlarged heart. Pumpkin was eventually placed in an oxygen tent, put on IV fluids and antibiotics. The emergency doctor didn't know if she would make it through the night. She turned purple twice during the day and stopped breathing. She is in the best hands and all we can do is say a prayer for this special little girl. I should

11/04/04 Pumpkin continues to do well here. We are really starting to see some hair growth. Pumpkin is growing like a weed and weighed 18 pounds at the vets last week. She is working on housebreaking (not going very well). She is completely cratetrained and loves the other dogs. She is very attached to my girl Jazz. Where ever Jazz is Pumpkin is not far behind. Pumpkin is eating like a champ, loves the kids and going for little rides. I believe she is going to be a big girl as she has lots of loose skin. We hope Pumpkin will be ready for a new home in another month. Keep looking for updates

10/13/04 I thought I would do a little update on Pumpkin. There is not to much to report. We went to the vets and she has demodex mange. The more of the body it covers the harder it is to get under control. She also had a secondary skin infection and was observed that she does not have much of a nasal passage way. This will require surgery to fix. You can hear every breath she takes.
Pumpkin weighed 13 pounds, she is eating well and loves the other dogs. She has attached herself to my 7 yr old boxer. If we can't find her we know she is cuddled up somewhere with Jazz. Pumpkin is taking antibiotics twice a day as well as oral dosages of Ivemec everyday. We are hoping to see some improvements soon. She is just not a normal puppy and you can tell she doesn't feel well, hopefully soon.

10/6/04 Pumpkin made her way from a great shelter in RI. She was turned in by someone that said they bought her at a breeder and couldn't handle her condition. We feel that the breeder turned her in because she didn't want to spend money to fix her up. At this point we think it is some sort of mange. We are seeing the vet today so will know more. Not only does this little girl have bad itchy skin but she has no nasal passage and really has to suck in to breath. I know it is something that can be fixed.
Pumpkin is super sweet and really enjoys hanging out with the other dogs. She loves to play with the kids also. Pumpkin has been sleeping in her crate without one peep all night. She then gets up and goes out to do her business. We will report in today after her vet visit.
