UPDATE 10/31/04 - Apologies for the delay in updating.
My Pretty coconut is doing ok. I think everyday that goes by, she gets a bit more comfortable. I
do think she sees me as "mom"....
Have not taken any trips with her, she is not too fond of being in a car. Luckily I live in the city,
and do most errands by foot, so quite often she can come with me.
Her vet bills have been high. She just got a UTI and colitis at the same time. Luckily , the
medication works quickly, and I'm already seeing improvements.
She continues to do her "parading with the toy" everytime someone comes home. It's so funny.
Anyway, off to the park we go. It's a beautiful day outside.
UPDATE 9/15/04 - Miss Pretty is adjusting to life more and more here. She is quite a city girl,
and loves going for walks around NYC. She draws so much attention, everyone thinks she's just
sooooo pretty.....
I took her for a second opinion with another vet. He ( a boxer expert) agreed that she has a heart
arrythmia. He also found a pea-size growth in one of her mammary glands. I'll be monitoring both
these issues from time to time.
Her behavior has been up and down. She has great days, and not so great ones. She has an
on-lease aggression to some dogs and people, and she has had a few pee incidents in the apt, one
of them right on the seat of my couch. I'm hoping both of these will be addressed once we start
obedience, hopefully this coming week.
On the fun/cute side, she has this thing she does when I come home, or if I have a visitor. She'll
take one of her toys and parade around the apt. with it in her mouth for about 5 minutes from side
to side, it's the funniest thing.
8/14/04 Miss Pretty has been adopted!
8/7/04-Sorry for the delay in updating
Miss Pretty, we've been crazy here this week! She went in for her spay &
vaccs and is doing great. I have not seen any aggressive behavior from her
at all. She will let anyone pet her while eating and has no toy issues
either. She had her ears cleaned today, and even though she was not thrilled
with the idea, she did not give me a hard time (after the first initial few
moments when she tried to get away!). She is now allowed free run of the
house during the day! She's doing really well with my 2 boys, although
Sebastian is too much for her sometimes, but she has no problems letting him
know and he backs right off. She's eating very well & hasn't had any
accidents since the first day! She is a HUGE mush, and like a true boxer,
LOVES to give face baths to anyone who will stay still long enough. She
continues to be wonderful with my kids and is a real treat to have around.
Pretty is now ready to go to her forever home, do you have room for a
wonderful girl like her?
I'd like to introduce you to our new
foster, Pretty. She's a beautiful flashy fawn with natural ears & cropped
tail. She came to us from a shelter who had rescued her from a bad home. She
is very sweet and gives gentle kisses, and is very good with my kids. She
eats well and had only one accident, which was my fault because she asked to
go out and I thought she was trying to play. :( We have not formally
introduced her to the resident boys yet, but have met through the crate/baby
gate and have been fine. She will be going for her check up & nip and tuck
tomorrow. We will update her again when she gets home from her make-over. :)
