UPDATED 4/6/04 - Things are going great with Mya, She has adjusted very well to our
busy family life. She goes with us all the time, she really enjoys her car rides. The first
week we had Mya we saw some worms in her stool, so we took her to the vet. He gave
her three pills and she was all better in a couple of days, no problems since. She is a great
dog I can't say enough good things about her. We all love to take our turns playing with
her and she has plenty enough energy to last through all of us. We started obedience
classes last weekend, we went first to learn about clicker training. She starts this weekend
and I think she will do great, she is a very smart dog. I'm sure I will have plenty of good
reports to tell next month. In close I would just like to take this chance to thank SCBR for
bringing a boxer back in to my life.

3/6/04 - Mya has been adopted!

3/01  Mya Papaya is doing
wonderfully! She had her stitches removed this morning after being spayed..and
she is great! she weighs about 45 pounds and her fur is growing in so
nicely in her few bare spots. The vet thinks she looks great. We love
her!! She and Sebastian are great friends and she likes to sleep in his
tent in his room. They are the greatest of friends. We had a bday party
for Sebastian on saturday and everyone loved Mya! She was the talk of
the evening! She and Jake are very in love. I worry they will really
miss eachother. She is part of the family! We have noticed that when asked
to speak, Mya snorts! That does not surprise me, because she is such a
snorer!! Even though we would love for her to stay..I am sure little
Mya would like to start her new life. I think she would do bet with a
family and with someone who is home a good portion of the day!

2/10  Little pretty Mama went to
the vet yesterday and is scheduled to be spayed next Wednesday (18th).
She gained almost 4 pounds and her demodex treatment sure has worked!!
She just has a few tiny pink spots on her feet that will grow back and
one scab on the top of her head..that we are trying to get her to stop
scratching! Her coat has completely change. It is so soft..it used to
feel like straw..and she is doing wonderfully. She has gotten into Lazy
Jake's routine of napping the late morning/early afternoons away. She
has been allowing Jake to play with her bird with her! It is very cute to
watch her play tug of war with him. He always lets her win! Mya would
do fine with other dogs and kids..but I do think she will need someone
who can make sure she isn't left alone for more than 4 hours at a time.
She doesn't like to hold it!!! She is full of energy..so if you would
love a sweet, gentle little female..who can definitely play for long
periods of time..Mya is your girl!
2/4  Miss pretty little Mya is getting along here wonderfully!! She has only had one
accident since arrival, and hasn't shown any destructive behavior or separation anxiety.
She growls a little at Jake over toys and have heard her let him know whose food bowl is
whose. However, if I let her know that is not acceptable..she wiggles all over as to say,
"sorry!".  She is very gentle, loves her toys!!! especailly her birdie that chirps, and is a
total snorer. There have been times that she snores louder than my husband! It is
really cute because she is such a petite little lady who can sound like a little piggy! She has
made herself right at home on our couch or chair. She barks when someone comes to the
door, but for the most part she is very quiet. She will see the vet on monday so that we
can see how the progress is coming along with her demodex mange. She looks
terrific..but the vet will make the decision on when to spay her so that she can go
to her forever home!

1/27  Well Mya the "pretty boxer momma" has been with us for almost 4 days and she is
a true sweetheart. She is so loving, and gentle and great with Jake and our 3 yr old son
also. She is totally housebroken and very smart and loves to snuggle with us and also with
Jake. She and Jake play and sleep and play and sleep, and run around in the back yard
together!! They are getting along wonderfully. She saw the vet yesterday and is closer to
2 yrs old than one year old. She tested positive for demodex mange, and is being treated.
We are glad it was caught quickly, as she has very few infected areas
on her.  The vet and staff loved her, she weighed in at around 41 lbs, and will be back to
see the vet soon to determine her progress and talk about spaying her. She has shown no
food aggression or any aggression at all. She only growls a little when Jake wants her
toys, but she has become more comfortable with him wanting to take them away. Mya is
very quiet and has only barked when someone comes to the door!! She has been
sleeping on the floor on a dog bed, but comes up into bed with us in the middle of the
night. She is so petite, that having her in the bed with Jake, is not such a huge deal! We
have had people come over to meet her..and they fall in love with her!! She is just a
beautiful and sweet little girl!!

1/25 Mya arrived on Boxer Island
yesterday!!! She is a very petite, one year old, flashy fawn girl. She
has natural ears, docked tail and a black mask with cute pink and white
markings. We are guessing she is somewhere between 35-40 pounds. She
was surrendered at a shelter with her pups who are also in the care of
SCBR. Mya will be seeing our vet tomorrow, as she most definitely has
demodex mange and will start treatment and be on her way to being spayed!!
she is very sweet, listens very well, going to the door when needed,
hasn't had any accidents, and seems to really like Jake! She saw
Sebastian today for the first time (our 3 yr old son), and seems fine around
him, he wasn't so sure about her, besides his dog is a horse compared to
her tiny stature! We will update more when we have a chance!
