UPDATED 6/7/04 - I can't believe it's almost two months since we've adopted Morgan
and three months since we adopted her buddy-from-another-rescue, Brock. Morgan is an
absolute doll! She is a real lover and she's definitely a "daddy's girl"! Morgan has adapted
well to life in her new home and to us it feels like she's been here forever. She is incredibly
gentle with my kids and tolerates collar tugs, ear pulls, nose pokes and even the
occasional tackle or crawl-over from my 2 year old son! She listens well to all of us and
still gives the best wiggles when my wife or I come home from work. Morgan and Brock
still enjoy their wrestling matches but always stop when told and never let things get out of
hand. Morgan also enjoys using me as a wrestling partner when the "old man" (Brock)
decides to take five. She is an intense player and if you didn't know better you would
think I was having a real problem with a 60 pound, muscle bound, growling boxer beast!
But as soon as I say, "Stop!" she calms right down and moves closer for kisses and
scratches.
We took Morgan for a ride to Orchard Park, NY this past weekend to visit a BRAD set
up at a pet show. As always, Morgan is a lady in the van and could ride forever. She was
very well behaved while we were there (something I wish she could teach to her skin
siblings!) and had fun smelling all the other animal smells. She also got the chance to see
her foster mommy, Mindy. Morgan later told me it was nice to see her again and she
hopes we can all get together this summer to run and play and maybe sneak a hot dog or
two from the skin kids! She also said to tell Jake, Sebby and Jason hello and she sends
kisses and wiggles. (I can't believe I'm writing this stuff! lol!) Anyway, we will try to attend
the next couple of BRADs being held in the area over the next few weeks. If there's
anything we can do to help let us know!
Morgan will be attending obedience classes beginning the last week of this month. I
wanted to wait til school was over and my wife and I are on vacation to make it easier to
attend the classes. I'm looking forward to seeing how she will do and to get some pointers
on finetuning her behavior as well as Brock's. My aunt, who is also a boxer fanatic, is
hosting an outdoor agility test at her home this Saturday for members of the boxer club
she belongs to. We will be taking Morgan to meet the rest of the wigglers and see if she
may be interested in jumping through a few hoops or running a few ramps. Stay tuned,
we'll let you know how it goes. She has met my aunts boxers, Lucy and Rosa, one is a
show dog and the other an agility dog. She played very well with them and was
completely whipped by the end of the day!
We'll keep you guys up to date on any new developments. Have fun with all your boxer
babies and good luck to all the fosters out there. I wish I lived in a 5,000 sq. foot home,
I'd adopt 10 more!

UPDATED 4/16/04 - Hi everyone! First of all we'd like to thank Mindy and her family
who fostered Morgan and loved and cared for her until she was adopted by our family.
We'd like to thank Nora and Mindy for the time they took in the interview process. It
shows that you guys really care about finding a great home for these incredible dogs. We
also want to thank Leann for putting up with the phone calls and emails and for letting us
adopt Morgan. I'm sure you have a full plate in front of you with all the dogs that are out
there and all the surrenders waiting to come in and you still take the time to answer emails
and phones calls. I wouldn't want your job but I appreciate what you do and and thank
you all for the time, care and love you put into all aspects of this organization.
OK! As for our family, we are loving Morgan! She is such a sweetheart! I've been
bragging about her and showing pictures of her and my other dog, a rescued male boxer
mix named Brock, to anyone who will look and listen. I feel like a new father! LOL! What
can I say, Morgan is a doll! She's doing great here and we still can't understand why
anyone would have wanted to surrender either of our babies. Morgan went to the vet on
Monday to have her stitches removed and is doing fine. She is still taking an antibiotic for
a UTI but seems to be all but cured. She's very playful, loves to wrestle with Brock,
enjoys chasing any ball you throw for her and when she's not doing that she is a snuggly
couch potato! She's fantastic with my two children and could care less about her feline
house mates. She has the cutest underbite that causes her lower canines to stick out
occassionally and her tongue to stick out almost all the time! How could you not love a
face like hers?! Morgan sleeps in bed with my wife and I. My wife says Morgan and I
have nightly snoring contests. I don't believe her though, I don't snore and Morgan would
probably say the same! LOL! I do know one thing, it's time for a king sized bed.
Morgan has brought a smile to all of our faces. She's a great new family member and an
incredible pet. I think Brock appreciates the canine company. Morgan and Brock both
bark their alerts when someone comes to the house but both quickly warm up to any
visitor. Morgan wiggles so much when one of us comes home from work that it looks like
her butt will fly off! I'm sure with all these ups there will be some downs but it's worth it.
We have been blessed with two incredible dogs and we can't say enough about Second
Chance and all the folks we've come in contact with. We can't thank you guys enough.
We will be visiting this site often and will keep you all updated on Morgan. I'm not sure if I
can or if I am allowed to, but next time I'd like to include some pictures so you can all see
Morgan's tooth and tongue smile for yourselves!
Thanks again to all of you and keep up the good work! These dogs deserve the best
because they give the best! The best kisses, the best wiggles and the best snuggles!

UPDATED 4/15/04 - Morgan has been adopted!

4/13  Today Morgan went to the vet and
tested positive for a very bad urinary tract infection. She will be on
antibiotics until she is clear. She was passing crystals which were probably
very painful...like urinating sand, but she has shown very little
discomfort. The vet also gave her a second de- wormer to make sure she was
clear of any worms. Her incision from her spay looks good and if she isn't
adopted soon..she'll be back  to have her stitches out next week. She aslo
put on another 2 or 2 1/2 pounds..so she is almost 59 pounds!!!! We are so
proud of her. Her coat looks good and we feel good about the fact that
she'll be feeling much better now. Morgan is a doll

4/10  Morgan is available for adoption again! She is doing fine here.so we'd rather wait
until it is right for Morgan. Morgan's only issue is that she has been having a few accidents
in the house with pee pee. She was either not properly housetrianed, or she is nervous or
some other matter could be there. We are working on going out into the backyard with
her to make sure she is going. She doesn't like to be outside without one of us..I think she
is nervous that we'll leave her back there with Jake. So..she may not be emptying her
bladder completely. Anyway..we will get the issue under control. she does like to pee a
lot when we are on walks. I wil have the vet check to make sure there is no infection so
we can rule that out. she seems to know it was a mistake and she acts very sad about it.
Other than that..she is perfect. She has been very nice and gentle always and a complete
cuddle bug and a great sleeper!!! She loves to nap and sleeps throughout the whole
night..right next to my ear. She has put on a few pounds but has many more to go! She
loves treats, chows her food like a maniac..and has shown no food aggression at all. she is
a very passive animal. She wiggles all over the place when she sees us and she more in
love with Jason than with me..I think. Morgan is very very quiet and only barks when
someone comes to the door and when they walk in she is all wiggles. We love her
underbit and little tongue that can sometimes just stick out of the front of her mouth..she
really is so cute. She'll make a wonderful companion for someone!

4/7 Morgan is pending adoption!!! There are fosters who come into your life and touch
you in a way that you can't explain. Sometimes you feel silly even if you have only known
the dog for a few days or a few hours. Morgan is one of those. My husband and I have
fallen competely in love with her. She was spayed today and is going home to her new
family this weekend. The couple has two young children and a young male boxer and they
are so excited to meet Morgan. We are sad to see her go..she has a special little place ino
our hearts. I think that Jason will be heartbroken. But it is always nice to watch the
excitement of the new family when they meet the dog for the first time and then hear how
wonderful they are doing in their new home. We were just sad we couldn't have spent
more time with her..but happy she has a new home so quickly!!!!!

4/5  Morgan has arrived on Boxer Island and seems to be doing just fine. She is a 3 and
1/2 yr old brindle female with natural ears, docked tail and a white chest, and black mask.
Morgan's owner had to surrender her due to a change in living arrangements. Morgan
grew up with  kids and a cat and lived temporarily with a male boxer. She and Jake are
getting along nicely. She went to the vet this morning and she is about 54 pounds and truly
needs about 15 more. The vet felt she was very underweight. She aslo has tape worm and
was treated for that in the office. She has an appointment to be spayed on wednesday
morning. She snuggled all night with us and snored very loudly! she is extremely
affectionate and very gentle with Sebastian our 3 yr old. She had one accident that I just
found upstairs..she must have had to go! Morgan has the cutest underbite and a lot of the
times her tongue sitcks out while she stares at you.  I hope Morgan goes to a home with a
family..that is what she is used to and she would do well with another dog as well.
