8/24/04 - Well, the TRUE Lucy has come forward!  I now see the playful side of her &
she is acting like one of the gang.  She wiggles her tail & back end, gives gentle kisses &
gets the goofiest/happy look on her face when she's in the play mode!  It is so nice to see
her being completely comfortable & happy again.  Lucy has slimmed down & is in great
shape now too.  She loves bedtime & will cuddle all night on the bed.  She likes to share
my pillow or lay her head on my arm while I sleep.  Lucy also loves to join me on the
couch & will lay at one end.  She appears happiest when she has these extra comforts &
closeness to me.  So, if you don't mind this sweetheart sharing your bed & couch & giving
you gentle kisses, hurry & ask for Lucy to be your baby!   You won't regret it! :)

8/13/04 - Lucy has been doing great the last week.  Her paw is all better, so she is not
limping anymore.  She has also started bouncing around a little & being more happy &
playful.  I have even been privileged enough to get kisses from her now! :)   Lucy is a real
sweetheart.  She has also shaped right up & looks great!  You can see her wasteline now!
LOL

Lucy sleeps on my bed every night now & once in awhile she will snuggle with her head
on my shoulder while she snoozes away.  Lucy does not like being crated at all & gets
anxious about it.  She was not crated in her home & did wonderful, so she will be best to
go to a home where she does not need to be crated.  Lucy really would be happiest in a
home with a pretty stable environment (one that does not have a lot of action of strangers
coming & going or lots of kids running around, etc).  She gets too nervous & tries to hide
or get away from it all.   When she is in her own environment & the normal routines, Lucy
is very comfortable now.  I am happy to see her changes coming about & how wonderful
she is.  Lucy is waiting for her new home to come whisk her away--is that you?

8/3/04 - Lucy has come around a lot!  She now acts like one of the dogs in the house,
comes to me to be loved & petted & even graduated to EXTRA SPECIAL foster
privileges last night & was allowed to sleep on the bed! (she gets so depressed about
being crated at bedtime, those big sad eyes got me last night!).  She did great sleeping on
the bed & cuddled with me all night.  She still has not shown her playful side to me though,
but the loveable, cuddly side she IS now showing is great for starters & makes me so
happy to see!   I think she has accepted more of where she is now.  She is eating much
better now too.

Lucy gets along mostly with my dogs but she has started to show her jealous side & she
also doesn't chose to play with them.  She got into one good fight with my boy over
attention, but was not going to back off either.  She definitely wants to be the one & only
in your home & heart.  I feel Lucy will be fine around other dogs visiting or in public
places, but just will not be good to share her family with all the time.

Lucy did hurt one of her front paws the other day, but I'm not sure how she did it as she
came out of her crate limping.  I am giving it a week to see if it gets better before taking
her to the vet.  She can put weight on it, but often lifts it off the ground.  Lucy did one time
pull on her crate door enough that she pulled it inward (not an easy thing to do!), so she
may have been trying to do that again while I was out & hurt her paw.  She has also
stumbled a few times when running back in the house after being out going to the
bathroom & could have done something there to hurt it.  Hopefully it will be nothing & she
will be back to normal soon.

Keep watching this beautiful butterfly coming out of her cocoon-Lucy is a real catch!

7/29/04 - Lucy is doing better now that she has settled in some.  She is still a very nervous
girl & wants to be on her own a lot or just with the other dogs.  Lucy has been an angel in
the house & has learned the layout & knows where the water bowls are & the doors to
go outside.  She thinks the kittie door is another way out for her, but unfortunately she has
not figured out yet that her head & one front leg are all that will fit! :)   I think she has lost a
couple of pounds as she is looking slightly smaller.  Lucy does have some of an appetite
back, but is not a big eater here yet.  I think Lucy is just not an easy adjuster to change &
is taking this big lifestyle change very hard.  She has never been mean or snappy, don't get
me wrong, she just acts antsy & scared a lot & will not come to me or let me comfort her
yet.  For this reason I think she's going to be better in a home where there is more
consistency & not a lot of camping trips, vacationing, etc with her in tow.  All of the
pictures her old owners sent show her looking like a happy & different dog.  Sadly, I have
not been able to see that side of Lucy yet.  For those that follow the site, she reminds me a
lot like Mugsie I had a few months ago.  It took him a couple of weeks to come out of his
shell too.  Hopefully Lucy's loving new home will come along soon so she can bond with
them & start her new life.  She is a sweetie!

7/16/04 - Lucy is a great girl who is just very unsure of what has happened & where she
is right now.  I feel so bad for her as she is very depressed & appears to be looking for
her family all the time.  She does not want much to do with me or my dogs right now, so I
am giving her the space she wants & needs to settle in.  Lucy is perfect with my cats &
birds & I had her around older kids & she was fine.  Her owners did say Lucy could
sometimes be tempermental about her back end being shook or held (like during cuddle
time or as in slight play motion).  Because of this, I would not feel she should be placed
with little kids as they may test her patience level too much with that.  Lucy has been
adjusting well to being crated when I am not home, but she does not need it in her new
home as she is a good girl.  She is perfectly housetrained too.  Lucy has not been eating
too much since she arrived last weekend, but I think she will be more comfortable soon &
start to eat better.  Luckily she is not skinny (actually she is a little overweight) so it won't
hurt her too much to be eating lightly for now.  I am hoping to get her pictures up soon
too.

7/11/04 - Lucy arrived today & is a 4 year old spayed very beautiful reverse brindle
female with white on her feet, face & chest, natural ears & a docked tail.  She was a very
difficult owner surrender as they have had her since she was a puppy, along with several
other dogs.  One of the older dogs died a few months ago & since then Lucy has been
fighting with one of the young females & neither will give in.  They made the sad decision
to choose Lucy to find a new home as she always seemed to start the fights & they were
worried she may pick another dog to go after next.  They do realize it was just pack
positioning, but both dogs being dominant meant neither would give in.  Lucy lived with
cats, several dogs, birds & a horse.  She got along with everyone of the animals up until
recently & only had issues with the one other dog.  The family feels she would be happiest
probably as an only dog in her next home.  Her owners also said Lucy was use to sleeping
on a dog bed & did great & can be left out in the house & not be destructive either.  Her
games are tug, playing with balls, rope toys, chasing flashlight or laser pointer & chasing
water coming out of the garden hose.  I will update on how she is doing once she has had
some time to settle in some.
