5/2 Kali has been here on Boxer Island for about a week. She is awesome!!!
I forget she has not always been here!! The funniest thing is that we have
never heard her bark in 7 days. She might whine or growl a bit if she sees
something outside..but she never has barked! She is very quiet! We really
enjoy her. She loves our son..she is very smart, listens very well and has
never had an accident in the house. She walks so well on a leash, likes to
play with Jake outside, has a lot of energy..but when in the house..she
prefers to sleep on the floor on a dog bed, has never slept on our bed or
gotten up on the furniture. Tonight she came up to me and out her paw on my
arm and led me into the kitchen to tell me she wanted to eat dinner! She is
so funny! I have left she and Jake alone and there have been no
problems..they kiss each other a lot..and get along very very well. A couple
squabbles over food dropped on the ground but that is about it! Her breath
has improved a great deal and she hasn't shown any more signs of a UTI. Kali
is a wonderful companion..she loves people..has greeted everyone who comes
to our house with a wiggle and is very happy to be petted or have some
attention. She would make a great addition to anyone's home as an only dog
or another dog!
4/26 Kali arrived yesterday afternoon
thanks to many wonderful people who not only transported her to us..but for
getting her out of the shelter and housing her until she was able to get to
our home. She is a flashy, petite fawn girl..with natural ears and a docked
tail. She is spayed and UTD on all of her shots.She has a white mask with a
light eyes. She between 5-6, but acts like she couldn't be older than 3. She
is totally in shape! What a beautiful stature she has. She was a little
nervous yesterday..but settled down ..had nothing but kisses and wants to be
around us. She and Jake had a squabble yesterday..but are fine today. They
are playing gently and she is acclimating very smoothly. She is very very
gentle and nice with our 3 yr old son. She saw a cat at the vet and sniffed
at her and was curious but gentle. She weighed in at 46 pounds..was a total
lady ..and tested positive for a urinary tract infection. She is on an
antibiotic for that and for an infection in her throat. Her tonsils were
very swollen. She tested negative for heartworm and any other worms and
looks good other than that. Everyone at the vets thought she was so sweet.
She listens VERY well..and is great on a leash. She slept the whole night
through on the floor on a doggy bed. She goes outside with no problem, and
seems to like to romp around and play outside. Kali is a very sweet
girl..she would be a great companion and would do just fine in a house with
another dog. She might even be ok with a cat!
We want to thank Mindy on LI for pulling Kali and Susan for taking care of her for the
week before we could get her in. THANKS!
4/25/04 Kali has arrived thanks to everyone..Diana for housing her for a few nights
and to all of the transporters and Shirley who brought her to my house and
hung out with Jason and I ..I was told Kayla..but her papers state Kali..and
she has been answering to that. We'll see. she is approx. 6 yrs old..flashy
fawn ..reminds me of Mya..but her face is much different. She has a white
mask with gray markings. She most definitely has a UTI..spotted a flea or
two..and some flea bites..and I am thinking demodex mange also. She has the
same exact pink spots on her paws as Mya did. poor girl. Looks like she was
kept on concrete..has terrible calluses where he "elbows" are. But other
than that..lol..she is very very gentle..and quiet. She is average size for
a female. All of these things aside and if you looked at her body..she locks
2-3..then look at her mask and she looks 6. Her color is really beautiful.
She is sound asleep on the floor near Jason and very peaceful. I will update
with pictures later.
