11/23/04 - As you may have noticed, Joe has not had an update in a while. He had developed some issues in adjusting to his new life, that would make him very hard to place. Joe tried so very hard to overcome them, but in the end he just couldn't do it. It is with a heavy heart that I tell you Joe Boxer has gone over the Rainbow Bridge. Now, at last, there are no more obstacles in his path, and he can be a truly happy boxer boy. Hopefully he enjoyed his stay with us and will remember us fondly. Good by Joe, we loved you anyway!

8/20 Joe loves his crate, he waits for his dinner there, eats there, chews toys there, sleeps there (on his own), and has no problems with going in (all it takes is “Joe, crate”) to wait while you are not home. Separation anxiety is not our Joe’s thing. He just takes a nap ‘til you come home. He also likes to take naps on the couch with his head (and sometimes his whole Joe) in your lap. He gets excited when he sees a tennis ball, but he wants to have it to chew on, or sleep with, he really only wants to “fetch” it once! LOL Like I said before, a real easy going guy! Wouldn’t it be great to have a “roommate” like Joe? Here’s your chance (he won’t help with the rent though!)

8/10 It has been a little hot (and wet) around these parts and Joe has shown a bit of his “true colors”. Nothing big, just a tad stubbern about having to move from a cool spot and a bit of a nusiance with the “in and out” bit. Joe gets a bit (a big bit) vocal when he wants something. If you don’t get the pleading eyes and/or the softer whines, he will stand back and let you have it with the big guns. When Joe wants “attention“, he wants “attention” and that is that!!

7/30 Well we are half way thru summer and Joe is getting a little anxious that he won’t have much time to play in the sun before fall kicks in. He is what, for a boxer, might be termed “an easy keeper”. Joe says he wants: “Food, (that’s always a top priority with boxers) and lots of love, and attention, belly rubs included. However, large amounts of exercise are not usually in my agenda. I like snuggling and napping and following you around the house and an occasional romp is ok, but, hey, we doesn’t need to make a habit of it, ya know?? So, if laid back is your thing, I’m your dog!!!”

7/14 Wanted: A home with you. Hi, my name is Joe, I am a handsome boxer and a super friendly guy that just wants a nice place to snuggle with a boxer loving human. I am not an excersise freak and don’t mind if you prefer the VCR to the Gym. My activities include eating, sleeping, snuggling, kissing, rides in the car and long, (not too long) quiet walks. I don’t really care for younger people who grab at me and/or startle me. I don’t mind older kids that have been properly trained in boxer ediquate (I sleep with a fairly well behaved 16 year old now). My turn offs are: two many people or dogs at once (I am not a real party animal) but small parties are ok. I will protect you, love you and be your best friend, if you will do the same for me.

7/4 Joe says: Happy fourth everyone!! He would like everyone to know that he has been enjoying his stay at the Inn but, hey, a permanent home would be better, so what’s taking you so long?? He’s got his stuff packed and is just waiting for you to pull into the drive and say “Want to go for a ride?” (well, he does still have his food bowl out, just in case you don’t show up today. Lol

6/29 Hi guys! Bet your wondering what’s up with the Joe boy!! He is doing well. He knows the routine and follows it quite well, right up to, but not excluding, when to beg at the table (after we finish of course!!) He LOVES it when I say “who wants to go for a ride” and starts bouncing up and down like a puppy. He and JR are having some dominance issues, but they should be able to settle this soon.

6/20 Joe is snoozing in the sun behind my chair as I type. He is down to a nice (semi plump) 86 pounds and seems to have more energy, he likes to run the fence and bark when Toby is loose and he likes to go for runs around the farm. He doesn’t always come when called but he is getting better at it. He seems curious, but not overly interested, in the barn cats and I think would be ok with a cat in the family. He does have a little bit of a grumpy side if asked to “get down” from the couch, and is not to keen on giving up the tissues he steals from the bathroom can. I would say that someone used to punish him after grabbing him by the collar. He can be a little snappy if we grab his collar from behind, if he sees you reaching for it, he seems fine. I do think that this might take him out of the running for a home with younger children that might startle him.

6/15 Joe is learning how to play with the other boxers. He sits, downs, paws, stays and “off” pretty well, he does tug a bit on the leash, but hey, there’s a lotta new stuff to see!! He is very good about going into his crate and even goes in for naps when it’s open. He doesn’t appear to be too stressed about being alone in it, and boy is he happy to see you when you come home. He sleeps with my son and I am told is a bit of a bed hog (well, he is a boxer, isn’t he?)

6/12 Joe is settling in, he has met his fur brothers and although there was a bit of posturing with JR they are all good buddies now. Joe went to the vet and had his fecal and heart worm test (both negitive) The little lump I was concerned about turned out to be a very stubborn scab, that the vet got off with tweezers ( I get the duh(?) Award for that one!) He does have a small cornial scratch that I am medicating. Other than that our boy Joe is in tip top shape. He has even lost some weight and is looking good!!

Hello from the In and Out Inn! We have been on hiatus, but are now opened and our first guest has arrived. He is Joe Boxer, an owner surrender due to new living conditions. He is a big, husky guy. A mite too husky, actually, and he will be on the Inn's Weight Control diet while in residence. He is a big bouncy love bug who is happy to greet anyone willing to rub his head. He did take some time to adjust to the Inn's other residence, but he's doing well now. I think he was an only dog, who didn't get much of a chance to play with others, as he wants to play but doesn't seem to know what to do. Right now he just stands there, bouncing up and down and barking while the others have fun. I'm sure this is something else he will get the hang of pretty soon.  I am setting up a visit to the vet's very soon to bring him utd and have his heartworm work done. More on Joe soon. Keep an eye on this one, he's a definite keeper!!
