3/24/04 Dora's been doing very well and  having a great time for herself these past
two weeks. Yesterday, she found her "voice", and now barks for any reason -- real
or imagined. Her most fun appears to be  barking in the cats' ears. Wow!  Does it
make them jump. I try my best not to laugh, but it sure is funny to see ...   Up until
then, she was the resident ear-licker. She'd walk up to the cats and just start sniffing
and licking their ears. In spite of themselves, I could tell they were beginning to enjoy
it as they made no effort to get away .and now, suddenly, from ear-licking to
ear-barking. Took us all by surprise!  I'm doing my best to  dissuade her, as I don't
want the cats to go deaf. :)
Dora has a strong nurturing instinct .I think she sees the 2 cats as her babies. She
has to know where they are at all times, and she won't settle down at night until she
knows they're both in the house     When Dora's out, she loves to investigate every
leaf and twig she sees, and every noise that she hears.  Sometimes it's hard to get her
attention when it's time to come in, but my daughter discovered that all she has to do
is call one of the cats, and Dora will come a-running!
I have not crated her as she is as good as gold during the day.    Even days that I
have to work full time, I come home to No Mess.  Usually, she's laying on the couch
fast asleep and is surprised to see me ...  A watch dog she's not, at least not yet.
It is necessary to put my shoes away and make sure closet doors are closed tight ...
She seems to think that shoes are just another kind of chew toy, and the closet is
where I keep them for her .  When I've left a pair out, and been occupied, she took
one into the living room and just started gnawing on it . So, she's making me be a
much neater person . :-).
Dora's been to the doctor's. Everything's fine, except now he wants her to see an
orthopedist, as she appears to be having knee problems (Boy, can I relate!) .   She's
scheduled to be spayed on April 9th .He wanted to give her time to put on a few
pounds, which she is certainly working on . Wow!   For a little girl, she sure has a big
appetite!  Dora is just about completely housebroken now ...   We had a slight
setback last week when it snowed twice .She does not like the cold and doesn't like
to get her feet wet .She is such a dainty girl!
Dora loves other animals and children and would fit in well with a family that has
either or botH.  Because of her knees, I haven't let my dog, Neo, a big brute, play
much with her,  but when we go to my son's house, she and his miniature daschund
have great fun togetheR. When she sees my l0 month old granddaughter, all she wants
to do is kiss her. She never jumps (probably the knee thing again), doesn't shed, is
incredibly loving and affectionate, and in my view, is a Boxer Girl at her best. She
deserves a family willing to give her all that love and affection in return.

3/l3/04 Dora came to us from a nearby city shelter.  She is a darling little girl ... very
petite and dainty.   She came with no name, and after observing her for a day, I
realized that she was extremely curious about everything that came her way:   from
rustling leaves in the yard (she chased down a few of them), to the movement of
branches in the breeze.  Everything catches her attention and is worth exploring ...
"Dora the Explorer" doggified  ...
The biggest part of Dora is her heart ...   She loves people, other dogs, and cats.
She and my cat, Aja, have taken to napping together on the couch, and they fill the
house with the beautiful music of  purring and snoring  -- quite a duet!
As you can see in her pictures, she has the cutest ears - big, soft and floppy -  that
frame her face.
I have not yet crated Dora, as it appears she may have had a bad experience of being
kept in a crate that was too small for her.   I have left her in the house for extended
periods of time over the past 3 days, and she gives no indication of having any
separation anxiety.
Dora will be meeting the vet this week, and if all goes well, will be scheduled for
spaying.   After that, she'll be ready and waiting for her new home.   If you want to
add a family member who has plenty of love to give,  Dora's your girl.
