UPDATE 4/12/05 - JUST WANTED TO LET EVERYONE KNOW THAT CYRUS
IS DOING WONDERFUL. HE'S DEFINATELY A MAMA'S BOY. HE LOVES
GOING FOR WALKS AND RIDES IN THE CAR. HE ALSO HAS DONE A FEW
BRADS NOW, ALONG WITH HIS BROTHER CHIEF. HE ALSO LOVES
HAVING HIS BELLY RUBBED. IF YOU EVEN GLANCE IN HIS DIRECTION
HE STARTS TO LIFT HIS LEG. IT'S FUNNY, CAUSE IF YOU TURN AWAY
HE PUTS IT DOWN.
UPDATED 6/23/04 - We did our first session of training, and Cyrus did an> awesome
job. He loves to go for walks and rides in the car. We all took
a trip up to my moms in Vermont. Cyrus and Chief had a lot of fun running
around her land. He is so happy and loveable to everyone he meets. He loves
giving kisses and hugs. He gently will climb in your lap anytime he has the
chance. He also prefers the soccer ball, over the tennis ball. Cyrus and our
other boxer Chief are attatched at the hip, they do everything the same. It's such a great
feeling to see them be so happy, and have them make us so happy.
UPDATED 5/3/04 - Cyrus, adopted 4/3/04 is doing awesome. He is a great and loyal
boxer. We started to call him mush mush for a nickname, he is all kisses and hugs.
Especially when you praise him. He cuddle's on his pillow with my two daughter's. Him
and our 1 1/2 year boxer, Chief, are attached at the hip.
They play all day and cuddle at night. It's funny how high Cyrus can jump when he get's
excited. We found a dog park in Medway, Mass. So we've been
there a couple of time's. It's great when other boxer's are there. But Cyrus
was actually playing with a pug last time. And he sits by the gate and watch's his new
friend's as they leave the park. Everyone that enter's the park comment's on how
beautiful he is. He really is too! We're so lucky to have him! I have a hose out on the
deck and he like's to chew on the nozzle. He know's it's wrong, so he try's to pretend
he's sleeping on it, thinking he'll fake us out. He had his first visit to our vet. He is very
healthy. We got him on his heartworm preventive, and Advantix to keep those bugs
away. He is eating good, and getting plenty of exercise.
UPDATED 4/3/04 - Cyrus has been adopted!
3/27/04 3/27/04 - Cyrus is one big love bug! That's what I have learned about this big
mushball in the 2 days I've had him here. He loves to cuddle & snuggle, LOVES playing
with other dogs, loves car rides & is great about telling you when he needs to go out.
He is a little rough with the cats still, but it is all playful. I am working on teaching him
that rough housing with the cats is not okay & I am making some progress already.
Cyrus went with me today to the BRAD (Boxer Rescue Awareness Day) we had at Pet
Quarters in NH today. He got to meet lots of people, kids & dogs & he was a great
boy. He played for hours with Ty (aka: TyeDye--SCBR adopted puppy) & loved it.
Cyrus definitely need obedience training as he is super strong & a puller & jumper (all
normal boxer puppy things), but he does want to please you & is very smart so I know
he will be an A+ student. He loved every dog he met & people too. Cyrus is too big &
rough for kids under 4, but seemed fine with little bit older kids & loved them. He was
also such a good boy about waiting in the car when we had lunch after the BRAD. He
did not destroy anything at all & only took a few nibbles out of the unopened bag of dog
food in the backseat (ok, so that was tempting fate a little too much!-LOL).
Cyrus is already neutered & up to date on his shots so he is ready to go home now. So
if you are looking for a couch snuggle buddy & maybe a playmate for your other dog,
this is your boy!
3/26/04 - Cyrus came to us from a local shelter we work with. He was an owner
surrender to the shelter due to no time for him. Cyrus turns 1 year old in April & is a
super cute white boy with docked tail, natural ears & cute fawn patches on both his
eyes. His owner surrender paperwork from the shelter said he got along great with
dogs, would chase cats to play, was crate trained & had not been around kids so they
could not say on that. When I picked Cyrus up at the shelter, he was very happy to
jump in my car to go for a ride & only needed to be reminded a few times that he was
not the one driving! :) He was very gentle when taking treats out of my hand & seems
like a really sweet boxer boy. He met my cats briefly this afternoon & just wanted to
play, play, play with them. It was all harmless puppy play, but my cats sure didn't think
so after a few times of his 61 lbs trying to bounce with their little bodies. I will work on
him with the cats in the next few days to see if I can get him use to them NOT being
playmates. :) When it was time for me to leave him tonight to go out to dinner, I led him
to his crate & told him kennel time & he went right in without any issues. This guy
seems like a great catch, watch for more updates soon!
