UPDATE 6/19/05 - hi
this is Cassandra's [cassie] 6 month update [a little late] we got her in nov. 2004
she has really just blossomed since we picked her up and shown us that she has quite a personallity, she is
always prancing around and wagging that tail [it can be quite the weapon] she is just so funny to watch.
we find we have to spell words around here now, between her and willie we don't stand a chance if we
happen to say "ride,byebye,treat,food,cheese"
well lets see cassie, loves to eat, get her treats and go for rides, she rides well but would prefer to sit in
my lap for the ride, but seeing that she is up to about 70 lbs.now[time for a diet] so she gets the back seat
with willie.she is still very curious about the cats but in a good way, i think she would like to cuddle up
with them but they still run from her and willie. lets see she plays with squeak toys now and stuffed
animals at first she ran from them but now plays with them a lot and has even started to boxer play but
mostley, cassie, just loves to hug and be with us all of the time
cassie still meets us every morning with a big 2 legged gentle hug and kiss, she is just a wonderful little girl
that we have come to love so very much

UPDATE 2/19/05 - we adopted cassandra [cassie] in nov. we actually got her on my birthday. at first
she was very nervous, and very scared of my two cats they never went near her, but when she saw them
she would freeze and she did the same with stuffed toys it was kind of odd, and she would not open her
mouth for a treat.but how things have changed she has really come into her own.
cassie, and my other boxer girl [willimina] won't leave each others side, it is so good to watch them run
and  play.she now also shares her food with the cats, treats the toys like they are her babies, carrying
them everywhere, and can't get enough treats, hot-dogs, pepperoni, and butter mints are her favorites.
cassie, now weighs 60lbs and the vet is very pleased with her size but said to start watching her weight so
she doesn't get to heavy.
she is just such a sweetheart, always giving hugs and kisses and standing on two feet to greet you at the
door for the big hug!
we completed her obedience training in jan. and she did so good at school i think she has had some
training before, she just seemed to know what she was doing
anyway cassie just seems to complete us and our family

10/28/04 Cassandra was returned to rescue last night.  Her adoptive family felt that their lifestyle was too
hectic for Cassandra, and that she was just not comfortable there.  She was a little skittish when she first
came in last night, but seemed to remember me right away and was happy to see me.  By this morning
she was comfortable with Rocky and Tika, and even met our other foster, Gata.  He was a perfect
gentleman with her, even seeming to appreciate that she was a bit on the timid side as well as tiny--he
didn't overwhelm her with his playfulness!  She is a petite little thing, even smaller than Tika.  So dainty in
everything she does!  If yours is the home that is looking for a young dainty Boxer with a tail, she is your
girl!

CASSIE HAS BEEN ADOPTED

Cassandra is doing very well at the Riverview.  She is almost done with her course of antibiotics for her
Kennel Cough, so she is feeling much better.  Casey is a very affectionate little girl and is loving the
attention that she can get.  I think that she is not used to having so much attention!  Casey has not had an
accident in the house for 3 days!  My impresion is that she may never have had any house-training before
she came to our home.  But she has caught on very quickly to that expectation.  Casey responds VERY
well to praise and positive reinforcement.  She really wants to please and be loved.  She has gained a little
weight, but is still quite thin.  I can see not only her ribs but each of her vertebrae.  She should probably
weight around 55 pounds, so we'll continue to feed her Puppy Chow topped with rice boiled with
hamburg and/or chicken. (This is 'la specialite du maison' at the Riverview!)  CAsey has no issues with
sharing her food and water with people or other dogs, and is overall pretty sedate for such a young
Boxer.  She doesn't jump on people, but does like to stand up to her full two-legged height and put her
front feet up on you as a sign of affection.  We are working on this, but it might be a bit much for a small
person (preschooler) if she tried it with them.  As I don't have any preschoolers, I'm not sure if she
would, but she ceratinly has no intention to be hurtful.  She is such a sweetie.  Knowing that I can be part
of her Second Chance for a good life is why I am a foster mom--she really deserves to have the love and
attention that he Forever Home can give her.  Are you that home?

8/23/04 - Cassandra is a lovely little female that arrived at the Riverview Boxer-Hostel from the Newark
shelter last night.  Casey was a stray, and is about 40 pounds and quite thin--she needs to put on a few
pounds!  She is a lovely dark fawn with a classic black mask and only a tiny bit of white on her chest and
some of her toes.  She has natural ears, a natural tail, and still has her dew claws.  She also has a case of
Kennel Cough, and is on an antibiotic.  She doesn't have fleas (yeah), and is Heartworm negative (yeah
again).  Casey seems to be between two and three years of age, and it looks like she had a litter of
puppies at some time. She appears to have been spayed.  She was a wonderful little lady last night--not a
peep out of her all night long.  She met both Rocky and Tika without any issues and is housebroken.  She
rode nicely up to the vet in the car, and doesn't pull on the leash!  Casey is sleeping alot, and has eaten
some although she has refused most treats.  I am sure that as she settles in more, her appetite will improve
and we can put a few of those needed pounds back on her!
