UPDATE 9/5/08 - Some of you might remember Bubba, a 6&1/2 year old brindle boxer who we
adpoted from SCBR in November 2004. He was pretty famous for his gummy underbite which people
mistook for his tongue hanging out. :) Well, Bubba has gone to the rainbow bridge - he had been getting
weak over the past couple days & stopped eating. After a few vet visits & some tests, we found out he
had a tumor in his GI tract causing internal bleeding. It seemed that he was starting to suffer, so we
made the most difficult decision to let him go. He was 10&1/2 years old.
Thanks to SCBR for bringing him to us. I can't tell you how perfect he was for our family - we feel truly
blessed to have been in his life for almost 4 years. Bubba will be in our hearts forever.

UPDATE 10/30/05 - Bubba has been with us for an entire year now - we can't believe it!  We do not
regret the decision to adopt our 'older' boy for one second.  At age 7&1/2, he is energetic, obedient,
friendly & oh so lovable.  With the exception of a few minor incidents (he has enjoyed some not so
savory meals on occasion - crayons, kitty litter, paper) his behavior is excellent.  No accidents in the
house, no chasing the kitties, no aggression towards man nor beast.  Our boy is popular with all of our
friends & family, including our friends at the Cheektowaga Petsmart (Jill & Michelle especially.)  Bubba
loves to go for walks as often as he can, yet he's content to lay around at home with us too.  He had a
blast during his first camping trip this past July - except for the swimming part (we found out that he
sinks like a rock!)  He also loves to stay at his 'grandparent's' house when he's unable to go with us on
trips, and they love having him.  Thank you all so much for bringing Bubba to us.  I can't praise SCBR
enough & I have referred several Boxer lovers to the website over the past year.  Keep up the great
work!

UPDATE 6/13/05 - 6 months have flown by since we brought Bubba home. He brings us so much joy
& laughter. People are always telling us (and him) that he's a great dog & how lucky we are. He rarely
barks, does not chew on things, is great on walks, doesn't mind the crate & eats like a champ. He is in
love with my dad & gets so excited when he sees him especially. He is great with the cats (even the
male is coming around) and other dogs. No limping AT ALL since we've been giving him the joint
supplements. However, our boy needed surgery to remove his skin tags. The large one on his chest
started bleeding & we decided to have it removed. It was a benign mass, and he did beautifully with the
operation and recovery. You can hardly tell there was anything there before. According to his
paperwork, we believe Bubba turned 7 years old at the end of March. You'd never suspect that he was
that old if you met him. The great thing about our 'older' dog is that he is calm & listens to us, but still
active & excited. All of the rewards & none of the behavior issues! His previous owner trained him well
& we are so thankful for that. Bye for now!

UPDATE 3/2/05 - 3 months since Bubba came into our home - wow!  It's like he's always been here.
He is doing great, just finished obedience training at Petsmart with Jill last night.  I like to think he was
the star pupil, but I may be a little biased, lol.  Bubba made new friends there too - especially Macho,
the Chihuahua puppy who seems to be obsessed with our boy.  Bubba didn't mind at all - actually he
seemed to enjoy the attention!

As far as his health, we've had no problems.  He hasn't limped in weeks, and his skin tags are not
bothering him in the least.  They have not changed in size or shape at all, so we will continue to monitor
them along with our vet.  Bubba has adjusted really well to our cats, and finally our female kitty is
warming up to him. She even likes to rub up against Bubba's legs after she eats!  The male - not so
much!  If he wants to sniff Bubba, that seems to be OK.  But the other way around is apparently
unacceptable.  Maybe he'll come around someday.

UPDATE 1/21/05 - I can't believe it's only been 2 months since Bubba came into our lives.  It's like
he's always been a part of our family!  He continues to do very well in our home, no issues AT ALL.
He is loved by all of our friends & family, we're always hearing "wow, what an awesome dog" and "he
is so sweet."  I'm also happy to report that his limp is pretty much non-existent since he started taking
hip & joint supplements.

He has started obedience training with Jill & enjoys his time with the Shepperd mix & Chihuahua in
class (THAT is a sight to see!)  Maybe I'm a bit biased, but I'm sure he'll be valedictorian of his class,
lol!

UPDATED 12-14-04 - Bubba is the most awesome dog! If anyone has ANY doubts about adopting
an "older" dog (if you consider 6&1/2 older), trust me - GO FOR IT!  I can't thank Leann enough for
recommending him.  He has fit in perfectly with our family (the cats may not totally agree, lol.) He loves
to romp around the yard, go for walks & fetch.  Awesome in the car, and he loves trips to Petsmart.
He's great with our friends' dogs too(including two 8 month old Boxer pups.)  But when we're laying
around, relaxing or watching TV or whatever, he lays right there with us.  No whining, no begging, no
chewing, no barking.  Only one accident in the house when he first arrived, nothing since.  Loves his
crate, no food agression.  Knows basic commands & has even lost a few neede pounds since he
adopted us!

Bubba does not mind the vet AT ALL!  He's got arthritis in one leg, so I've started him on glucosamine
supplements.  And we will be scheduling him an appointment for removal of several skin tags (especially
the nasty one on his chest) after the holidays.  Other than that, no issues to speak of.  He'll be starting
obedience classes in January (with Jill at Petsmart!) so we're looking forward to that.  Thank you all so
much for everything you've done to help us get this beautiful boy!

11/10/04 - Bubba has been adopted!
