UPDATE 12/24/08 - Time has gone so fast I forgot to update Brutus last year! He`s such a great
addition to our family. Brutus loves going for rides and trips to the campground. His favorite is
eating,LOL. His health has been great. Harley, our other boxer loves having a playmate. We`re
very glad we adopted him.

UPDATE 12/27/05 - Hi everyone at SCBR!!! I have had a great year in my new home thanks to
all you wonderful people who made it possible. My Mom and Dad laugh at me a lot. I`m not sure
why. My older brother Harley is fun to play with and keeps me company if Mom and Dad are
gone. We play hard!!!! Thanks again. Brutus

UPDATE 6/27/05 - We are so glad we adopted Brutus. He`s so funny! Loves all people and gets
along with other dogs well. We may be going to obedience class for a long time yet as he`s strong
willed and stubborn but he`s come a long way from what he was like at his first class.
Brutus had some eating problems for a couple of weeks but is OK now on smaller meals. We
bought pet health insurance to cover extra costs in case it`s needed in the future.
He loves to go for rides in the car and is well behaved--doesn`t even bark at anyone.
We took both dogs on vacation this spring and they were so good we couldn`t believe it! They
were the hit of Key West where we met lots of other boxer owners.
Thank you all for the great work you do for these dogs.

UPDATE 4/11/05 - Hello all,
We returned Saturday from a 2 week trip to the Florida Keys. We took
Brutus and our other boxer Harley. They were just super! The ride was 2
and a half days each way because we were hauling a camper and made more
frequent stops with the dogs. Both dogs slept 80 percent of the time.
My husband laid the larger part of the back seat down and padded it
with a dog bed for them.
We took both dogs to Key West and Brurus got lots of attention! Many
boxer lovers stopped to visit with him and asked questions and told
their dog stories. We even took the boys to Sloppy Joe`s for lunch.
We`ve become very attached to Brutus (adopted 12/24/04). He has all
the great boxer traits. Thanks again to SCBR for the great work you do!

UPDATE 3/24/05 - Brutus has fit in here very nicely. He and our other boxer Harley are always
together.
Obedience class is much better since we began using the Gentle Leader collar. Brutus is a typical
boxer clown. He loves people of all ages and all dogs so far.
We`re leaving for a 2 week vacation to Florida and the boys are going along. Should be a very
interesting trip! We are both so glad we decided to adopt Brutus. He fills an emptiness that was in
our home. Happy Easter from Brutus and family.

UPDATE 2/24/05 - Hello all at SCBR,
Brurus talking here. I`ve been in my forever home for 2 months already. Time sure flies when
you`re having fun! I went to the vets and had my teeth cleaned. Now I have a nice white smile:)
My boxer brother Harley and I have a great time playing as boxers do. I don`t know how to catch
a ball like Harley does but I watch real close so maybe someday I can do that too. Mom and Dad
laugh at me a lot. Mom says she thinks I`m a typical blonde,
so silly. I started obedience class 3 weeks ago and I dragged them all over that room!!!!
I got a new Gentle Leader collar so I won`t pull as hard but the weather here`s been really bad for
walking--lots of rain. I like to play in the snow though.
Next month we`re all going for a real long ride to somewhere called the Florida Keys. I ride very
nicely in the car and don`t bark. We`re taking the big trailer that sits in our driveway. Harley and I
will try to be good boys.
I`ll talk to you again next month. Thanks for helping all the doggies!!
Brutus ( the white tornado)

UPDATE 1/24/05 - Brutus2 talking here. I know my people at my forever home love me a lot! I
have an older brother to play with and we get along really well.My mom and dad smile at me a lot!
I make them laugh with my boxer antics--flying leaps through the air when I play with my brother
Harley! I`m going to my new vets on Friday to get to know her and get my Heartguard too. Mom
says I have the best temperament of the boxers she has had. I`m such a lucky boy. I get to snuggle
in bed with my family. There`s a doggy toy box here for us guys and I`m learning to play with them
and Harley. I will start school soon and Mom thinks I`ll do well `cause I`m a smart doggie. Thank
you all at SCBR for helping me find this forever home. I`ll talk to you again next month.
Your friend,
Brutus

12/24/04 Brutus has been adopted!

12/20/04 Well, Its been almost a week and lots has happened. Brutus got Neutered last Tuesday
and all went well! He was diagnosed with Roundworms so he's in medication for that and his eyes
where cleaned out and he needs to have some medication applied twice a day for the next 2 weeks
then he'll be in tip-top-shape!  We discovered Brutus's love for children this weekend. My
husband and I babysat  a 3 year old boy and a 7 year old girl over night and Brutus was in heaven.
He was such a good boy with them. He never wanted to leave the girl's side and was giving out
kisses and boxer wiggles like I have never seen. Brutus would be perfect with children of any age...
He was calm around the boy and seemed to understood the boy was a little nervous around him.
Brutus would lay on the floor and let the boy pet his belly, then he would get up and climb on the
chair with the girl and lay his head in her lap! It was great to see... We took Brutus and Jasmine to
have their picture taken with Santa yesterday and they had a ball! Brutus was so gentle with Santa,
which is a total opposite to Jasmine who jumped on him and pushed him over. Brutus is a very
gentle calm boxer, I have never seen him jump on anyone and he's very cautious not to knock
anyone over (like some boxers are prone to do). Brutus would be a perfect addition to a family
that has children of all ages, his tolerance and love for other dogs is a plus too! He would do great
in any environment that would allow him to snuggle and be close to people! This wonderful boy is
dreaming about a forever home for Christmas, It would be a wonderful gift to your family as well
as a wonderful gift to Brutus!

12/13/04 - Well, I felt the need to update again on Brutus... I am happy to announce that we had
Brutus out of his crate all weekend and he didn't have an accident once! We took down the gates
and let Brutus have free reign of the house while we were home, he enjoyed having his freedom
and loved following Jasmine around. We had a few guests come to the house this and Brutus was
such a gentleman... He never jumped, and gave out many boxer kisses and hugs (he actually gives
hugs... if your sitting he will very carefully place his front paws on your shoulders and rest his head
on your chest... Its the cutest thing I've ever seen!)
He is very patient, Hasn't barked yet except for a small yip when the door bell chimed.. I think it
caught him off guard since he was napping. He loves to sit on the couch with you and rest his head
on your lap. I have never seen such a loving dog, he's content to just have your attention.
Brutus is getting neutered tomorrow, and will have his eyes cleaned out (he's got a slight infection
from not having his facial wrinkles ever cleaned, It caused him to get black marks under his eyes).
After that he'll be good to find a new home, and I have to admit I'll be sad to see this sweet boy
leave. He's been a joy to have around the house!

12/10/04 - Well I've been working with him on his house training and he seems to be getting it. I
had Brutus and my Jasmine gated in the living room while I was wrapping presents last night and
they had a ball together! They were playing, licking each other, Brutus was even laying on his back
and letting Jasmine lick his tummy! He is such a sweet boy with her, he would be great with
another dog in the house!
I would take Brutus out every 45 minutes, thru the same path and same door. I did this from 5pm
to 11pm last night consistently, He never marked once!!! By 8 o'clock if he had to go he would sit
by the French doors and stare towards to back door, I would get up and take him right outside...
Once he pee'd I would praise him a lot and let him back inside. I wouldn't let him back inside until
he went potty, and a few times he got frustrated, but as soon as he went (even a little bitty drop) I
immediately brought him back in and gave him lots of rubs and a treat.
When I put him to bed I went to the treat jar and as soon as he heard the jar open he ran into his
crate, I couldn't believe it!! He's such a good boy, and really wants to learn! To top is off, this
morning after feeding him I let him and Jasmine lounge in the office while I checked my email,
Brutus walked out and straight to the door. I hurried and followed, let him out and he went in the
grass and pooped!!!! He's getting the signals, and learning to show me when he has to go. He
hasn't pee'd in his crate at all and enjoys his fleece blanket, squeeky toy and peanut butter filled
bone.
I am so proud of him, and know he will be getting a great home that will give him the attention and
training he deserves! I recommend getting your applications in fast for Brutus, he's a sweet boy and
will find a great home fast!!

12/9/04 - Brutus arrived at my house last night and survived the hour long drive with minimal
whining. He settled down after a few minutes and rode without complaints. He got a tour of the
house and decided that even after going potty outside 4 times that the couch needed some watering
as well... We'll be working hard on that. Brutus met Jasmine after a while and seemed ok with
having her around. After a few minutes he seemed a little stressed so we decided to separate
them... We'll try it again today. All in all Brutus seems like a very sweet boy, he has
been permanently attached to my leg since he arrived and has given out kisses and a lot of
snuggles. He's heading to the Vet's office tonight to get updated on his shots and will be getting
neutered very soon, hopefully that will help with the marking issues. I'll keep you updated
as we get to know this beautiful boy more.
