UPDATE 1/30/09 - It has been a long time since I have done an update. We have had
Brandy for nearly 5 years and she continues to be wonderful. She'll be 9 on April 1st. She
has been suffering from an ulcerated left eye since before xmas. She was playing with a
comb and poked her eye. There have been many sleepless nights putting ointments, eye
drops and weekly eye scraping treatments that remove old/dead tissue and stimulate new
growth.  She is doing great and recovering from this very very well.  her report last night
was terrific.  We had a great eye recovery week progress report and hopefully after next
week's treatment, we'll be able to go every other week (about twice) and then not at all.
It's along recovery process; but she's worth it.
I was visiting the site looking for boxers for my brother, as he had to send Hurricane to
heaven this past Tuesday and he and his wife are looking for another Second Chance
boxer baby to love here in Maine, hopefully.  Happy 2009 to all boxer owners.

UPDATED 10/14/04 - Hi, I'm overdue on my update on Brandy due to my recuperating
from a herniated disc.  Brandy is doing fine.  She and I have missed our walks the past 2
months; but due to walking being part of my physical therapy, we have begun again even if
it is short distances for now and gradually increasing.  It's good the weather is still decent in
the Northeast.  My mom loves Brandy and the feeling is mutual.  She is spoiled and treated
like a queen and she loves every minute of it.  The only problem we have with Brandy is the
inconsistency of her reactions when we are out at an appt.  Sometimes she does great and
other times she wets and messes in the house and just tears things up.  It has occurred
when we have
been gone for only an hour and then other times, we've been gone up to 2+ hours and she's
fine.  We're working on it with giving her attention directly before we leave; making sure the
radios are on to reduce the outside city noises and giving her a dental bone as we depart
telling her
we'll be back soon and be good.  Brandy loves to ride in the car although she doesn't like
my leather seats.  She sits so pretty in the passenger seat and does well in the back seat
too. Brandy loves playing with her rubber Kong toys.  We had to take away the fleece like
toys as she began chewing and tearing them.  The Kong toys are working out great for her.
 She is
healthy, great appetite and is at her peak weight.  She loves to play with her Kong toys; to
throw them and she runs to get them and brings them back for you to play some more with
her.  She's a love and we love having her. Thank you 2nd Chance for giving us Brandy.

UPDATED 5/24/04 - Brandy was adopted from SCBR on February 14, 2004.  I drove
to Connecticut to meet the foster mom to pick her up.  Brandy is our second boxer as we
had to send our beloved Daisy (adopted from SCRB on 11/21/00).
Well, we have had Brandy a little over 3 months and she is a joy to have.  She completed
obedience training on April 17th and did very well.  She and I had been working together
before I enrolled her.  She and I walk almost daily and she loves to walk. Now that the
nice Spring weather is here and the days are longer, we are able to extend our walks in the
evening and we go for nice long walks on Saturday and Sunday. Brandy resides with my
mom on the 1st floor and she is mom's companion.  She loves mom and mom loves her in
return.  When mom, who is 87, takes her afternoon nap, Brandy takes one too.
Brandy loves to ride in the car. I take her with me often when I do Saturday errands.  She
sits in the passenger seat (I have bucket seats) like a regal lady.  When mom rides then
Brandy is in the back seat and she does well riding in the back too; although she does like
the front.
We had her to the vets, Dr. Hutchins, at Southern Maine Veterinary in Alfred within a
week after we got her to get her checked out and get a Maine certificate so I could register
her.  He is a bit of a distance for me to drive since we live in Portland, but he is worth it. He
has owned and bred boxers and is great and he thinks Brandy is beautiful (which she is!!).
We had Brandy back to Dr. Hutchins last Tuesday for her heartworm and lyme test and
shots and her teeth cleaned as well as her ears cleaned.  I had been cleaning them and
noticed a lot of wax and mucus and told Dr. Hutchins about it.  When he cleaned her ears
he found mites -- nasty bugs.  She had been shaking her head a lot since we got her and I
cleaned her ears then; but was doing it on a weekly basis and then it became every other
day so when I made the appointment for her teeth, Dr. Hutchins asst told me it might be
mites and she was right.  Brandy had a high dose of antibiotic fluid in her ears and I have to
take her back in 2 weeks for another dose.  Meanwhile I am to wipe and clean her ears
every 3-4 days with cortisone creme; but I can't get into the deep parts like the vet can.
Otherwise than that, she is doing great.  She eats great and she is on the Natural Choice
Ultra and has been now for about 3 weeks.  She weighs 60 lbs and Dr. Hutchins says that
is her ideal weight but by end of October he wants her down to 53-55lbs as she will be
less active in the winter; fewer walks.  Brandy loves to play with her toys and run through
the house.  She sits in the front windows watching the cars and people go by as we live in
the city and it is a busy street.
She minds pretty well and continues to do better all the time.  She is a love and loves
people and attention.  I have gotten so many complements on her when we walk and
people telling me how well behaved she is.  Brandy has found her forever home and we
love her.

2/14/04 - Brandy has been adopted!!

2-4-04 Brandy has come such a long way in the short time she's been with us.  She now
plays with toys, plays with the other resident boxers and just loves cuddle time!  She has
not shown anyissues at all and is a pleasure to have around.  And boy is she smart!  She
has learned down, wait, come, and leave it.  All she needs is a small
morsel and she'll do just about anything you ask of her!  She does bark when someone
comes to the door, but greets them with typical boxer wiggles and kisses as soon as they
walk inside!  She has met quite a few people on our walks, friends and family coming to the
house, etc. and has been a real sweet lady with all of them.  She's still pulling a bit on the
leash when we first leave the house, but I think that's because she always thinks we're going
in the car and she loves that!  Once we go past the cars, a small correction every once in a
while is all it takes to get her back on track-unless there's someone coming that she wants
to greet!   She  loves to go for rides in the car too, just sits in the back of my van with the
other dogs and looks out the window.  I really can't say anything bad about her, she's
perfect!

1-26-04 Greetings all!  Just wanted to give you a quick update on Miss Brandy.  She's
doing great here, full ofboxer wiggles and kisses for anyone who will stand still long
enough!  She absolutely adores my kids, follows them around giving sweet, gentle
kisses. She is still not playing much with the resident pups here, but loves to
romp around with me and is playing with some toys too!  She's eating like a
champ too, no issues at all, and hopefully we'll have her back to a good
weight soon.  She's not a big jumper, so that's always a plus!  She is also
doing beautifully with potty-time, no accidents since her first day here.
She really is a delight to have around, but wants a real home of her own
with lots of kids for her to "baby"!

1/21/04 - I'd like to introduce you to our newest foster, Brandy.  She's a petite fawn with a
black mask, white on the tips of her paws and a little on her chest, cropped & docked.
She's a real sweetheart, full of boxer wiggles and kisses.  She took an immediate liking to
my children and follows them all over the house!  She has met the resident boys and
follows Blaze around too!  She's not too sure about Sebastian yet, he's still such a puppy
and all he wants to do is play!  There hasn't been any aggressiveness, just some growling
when he gets to be too much.

She hasn't shown any interest in toys yet, but she is still getting used to her new
surroundings, so we'll take it slow.  She ate very well tonight, which is a good sign because
she's a bit on the thin side and we're going to have to work on fattening her up a bit while
she's here.  More to come when we know her better!
