3/31/04 Bo is not adjusting to the daily schedule at his new home, so everyone has
decided it would be in his best interests to find him a home where he will have more
companionship during the day.
3/8/04 Bo is really a nice boy. He had a bit of a nasal discharge when he came on
Saturday, but he is on antibiotic and seems to be much better now. Bo is quite mellow
and likes to be near us. He is good about doing his business outside and walks nicely on
the leash. The more he settles in here and I get to know him, the more he responds to
basic commands. He knows sit, down, and lay down. He will "come" if he thinks there is
something in it for him, like a good head rubbing. He is not really treat motivated and he
may not know what they are! He does seem to like taking his antibiotic in a tidbit of
peanut butter sandwich, though!
Bo is not very happy in the crate which I only used for feeding at first, and of course when
I have to step out for a little while. He will go in, but he protests rather loudly once in
there! He is most grateful to come out. Bo would probably like being the only "fur kid" in
his forever home. He likes to be the center of attention and he really does deserve that.
He is a big handsome boy who likes walks and naps. If Bo sounds like the guy for you,
get your application in quick! He is ready for love.
3/2/04 Bo has finally come to us from the Newark shelter. I picked him up yesterday
afternoon. On the ride home, he sat in the front seat next to me, then decided he wanted
to lay down, and found that the bucket seat wouldn't do ... He jumped into the back seat,
and sprawled out across it . He slept and snored the rest of the trip .
He is a handsome guy ... very muscular, though in need of a few pounds. He has very
large brown eyes, with a black mask around them .It kind of gives him a tough-guy look,
which he sooo isn't . He has a very gentle nature, though when he starts to play, get out of
his way, because he becomes kind of like the bull-in-the-china-shop! When he walks, he
prances, but when he runs, he actually gallops . He is hilarious to watch !
He loves affection, and actively seeks it out . Every time I sit down, he comes over and
puts his head in my lap to be petted . Last night, he actually fell asleep standing up as I
petted his head .
Bo was originally an owner surrender to the shelter . His papers state that he is good with
young children. He interacts well with my boxer, Neo, but seems to have the notion that
my cats are meant to be chased . :-). I'm going to spend the day working with him as
much as possible helping him to understand that the cats live here, and he can't keep trying
to chase them away ... Actually, I think he just wants to play with them, but since they run,
what else is an energetic dog supposed to do but chase?
Bo loves people ..... and will give up a good nap on a comfortable couch to follow me
into the laundry room, or wherever else I go, just to be nearby. He has a lot of love and
devotion to give; he deserves a family that is willing to give it to him in return.
