6/03 Simon has been adopted!

6/9/03 - Simon is wondering "where is my forever family"? We have one nice boxer boy here
that LOVES to play with other dogs. I think a home with another dog would be wonderful for
Simon as he really loves the companionship. He met our boxer Tuna and they play like 2 year
olds play~ silly and all day long! He has been submissive with both of my dogs. Simon was
also introduced to our cat. He was curious (hmm, fuzzy, fast little animal)but what dog isn't?
He was more interested in the cheese I had to offer than the cat itself so that is a positive sign.
Cats and dogs need time to adjust to each other. Simon has proved himself to be a really nice
dog. He still gets a little protective over his food bowl therefore, it reinforces my feelings of no
young children. He takes treats very nicely and I can pet his head while he eats, he just ge! ts
protective (not growly, just cautious) when you get too close to touch his bowl. He has come
along way so we respect his space while eating and stick with the head rubs. I can play ball
with him all day long and he has no problems with me taking the tennis ball out of his mouth.
He really can be a sensative dog. I'm guessing his previous owners wanted him to try and be a
"tough guy" but it's not Simon's style. He loves attention and he loves to play. He's truly ready
to find his forever home. Look at his face.....it's really that cute! Simon says "PICK ME,
PICK ME"

6/4/03 - Simon continues to do well here at the Boxer Pit Stop but he's wondering where his
forever family is? Simon has proven himself a winner and is a boxer boy through and through.
He LOVES to play with other dogs and is just acting so much more confident in everything he
does. When he plays in with my dog Barley, he is not at all dominant. He also looks right at
you waiting for you to tell him what you want him to do. He's a very bright boy. Simon is
awesome in the crate and there is nothing holding this beautiful guy back from being adopted.
He's ready to meet his new family. Is it YOU?

5/30/03 - Now that Simon has been neutered, brought UTD and no longer has his kennel
cough he had the great pleasure of meeting my happy-go-lucky guy named 'Barley'. What a
grand/playful meeting it was. They acted as if "hey, where have you been?" Barley (flat-coat
mix)is a submissive dog and Simon was actually submissive to him! Simon was exhaused after
about 30 minutes of play but he didn't want it to end. Simon's confidence level has made a full
swing. He now allows me to stand near him when he's eating and I even rub the top of his
head. We play ball all the time and he doesn't have any issues with me taking the ball from his
mouth. This is one boy who says THANK YOU SCBR for finding me. He is ready and
waiting for his new family now to find him. If you are looking for a beautiful, young and smart
boxer boy...LOOK NO! FURTHER...Simon's your man.

5/28/03 - Simon was neutered today and I would like to thank Jill for her help in getting him to
the vet. It's truly what makes this rescue so wonderful...everyone works together to help the
boxers! Thanks Jill. Simon is doing very well after his neuter. He's not sure why he doesn't
have quite the spunk he did this morning to play ball but he still wants to play. Jill reported that
Simon was a very good boy at the vet and they agreed with us that he is not over 2 years old.
So 2 years young he is. Simon weighed in at a whopping 55.8 pounds. He also has
whipworms and roundworms which we have already started treating with panacur. He'll be
putting on weight in no time now. I can't tell you how great Simon has responded to positive
love. He's like a kid...he needs boundries and he really seems to LIKE them too. He's a very
bright dog that listens when you speak to him. He also responds well to some commands and
is awesome at the sit/stay. (we do this for just about everything). Now that Simon has had his
nip and tuck, he is ready to go. He could continue to audition but heck, don't you just want this
handsome boy in your home? He will truly win your heart and you will have a pal for life. He's
got my vote for sure...how about yours?

5/24/03 - In the couple of days Simon has been with us at The Boxer Pit Stop, he has shown
that time, love and attention makes a world of difference to a dog that needs it. Simon is a very
playful dog that LOVES toys and will fetch with such pride. He prances back like "how was
that?" Simon can be a little protective of his toys but we have been working on him sitting first
and making sure he is listening to my command of "stay" before I go for the ball/toy. Positive
praise goes along way with this boy. Because of his stand-offish attitude with his toys and his
food bowl, I would suggest a home without young children. Simon was a stray but whomever
had him last took good care of him physically. He is in very good shape and has a beautiful
shiny coat. A real character this boy is. Simon is awesome in his crate. Not a peep from him.
He is scheduled to be neutered this coming Wed. and not a day too soon! Simon is auditioning
for a new home, is he YOUR boxer idol?

5/22/03- Simon has arrived at The Boxer Pit Stop for a brief stay.  He's a 3 year old brindle
boy, docked tail and natural ears.  He is scheduled to be neutered and heartworm checked on
Wed. 5/28/03.  Simon was a stray that came from our local shelter.  He is a good boy that
needs to learn some manners but deep inside he wants to please.  He just needs some
direction and attention/loving.  He also needs to be shown from the get-go that YOU are the
BOSS and not him!  Simon is a little anxious when you come near his food bowl but who
knows how long he needed to "guard his food" and why!  Time and trust should help him with
this.  He's a handsome boy that won't be in rescue too long.  He's at a great age and has a lot
of potential to make someone very proud.   Simon will get all the boxer lovin' he deserves
while he's here with us!  Judge this boy yourself, he'll be your next boxer idol.
