8/1/03 Roxy has been adopted!

7/26/03 Roxy is pending adoption!

7/18/03 Remember Roxie, who ran away from new men because she was afraid?  We don't
see that anymore!  My son had THREE male friends over the other night, and Roxie was right
there hanging out with the boys.  SHe is such a sweetie.  Everyone comments on her lovely
manners and calm demeanor.  She is such a pleasure to have here.  And now that she has
settled in, she isn't drinking as much water so she doesn't need to go 'out' as often (or as early
in the morning, which I appreciate).  As long as her new home didn't have any cats, Roxie
would fit in anywhere. She's welcome to stay here as long as she needs to, but I want you all
to know that you're missing a great girl!

7/12/03 Each day at the Riverview we see more of the Roxie Boxer that was meant to be.
She is so much more comfortable, and is meeting new people, even men, with more
confidence and less timidity.  My son, who at 18 and over six foot is a (young) man, had been
away.  He returned home this week and within an hour Roxie was approaching him with her
nub wagging! And she joins in the Boxer Barking to announce front door arrivals, and while
she isn't at the front of the line to meet new epople, she's at the end of the line.  Other than her
cat chasing, Roxie is the perfect guest here.  Her manners are wonderful.  SHe takes treats so
delicately, sits like a champ, and gets right outside to do her 'businss' even when it is raining!
And except for climbing into bed with me, she doesn't climb on the furniture.

7/10/03 I am so excited!  Roxie is still on the timid side, but yesterday she met two new
people (one a man) easily!  She sat next to me (for reassurance) but they could each approach
her and pet her. She even wagged her nub!  I am so happy that she feels safe and secure
enough now to meet new people.  My friend andrea (new person #1 ) commented on how
well behaved she is.  I agree--as far as I'm concerned this lady IS a LADY!  And of course
she continues to hold her own with Tika here.  The two of them can just run and run.  It's been
so hot that I'e been glad they've waited until the cool of the evening to get frisky.

7/5/03 Roxie has settled in beautifully! SHe is eating a little more--though I think that she will
always have her long-legged svelte figure.  She and Tika love to race around tha beackyard.
Today was so hot, though, that they didn't do much more than lie around in the shade.  If it had
been somewhat cooler, I would have brought her with me to a Boxer Picnic I attended.  She
still startles easily, but is comfortable enough now that I think the exposure to other dogs and
people would have been good.  But it was way too hot!  It's too hot to have Boxers in my bed
with me, too, so I'm glad that she knows "No", "Off" and "Go lay down and go to sleep".
Because her preference would be to share the bed--but at least she's not a bed-hog like Tika
is! This little lady likes to be right where you are, so she has found herself a nice little
bed-on-the-floor in my bedroom and sleeps there until it's time for her morning "Go out and go
hurry".  She wakes me up gently by lying her head on the bed near mine.  And then out she
goes and does her business right away.  Then we all go back to sleep, because I'm on vacation
right now, and I like to sleep in.

6/29/03 The Riverview is pleased to announce that its newest guest has arrived safely from
Connecticut, thanks to some dedicated volunteer transporters.  She was a little nervous at first,
but has really settled in nicely.  She needs some leash training, but other than that she is the
sweetest, nicest-behaved little girl!  Well, she's little compared to my Rocky, but she is way
taller than my tiny little Tika.  (And she needs to gain a few pounds.)  She is lying at my feet in
the kitchen as I type this.  What a doll!  Welcome to Maine, Roxie!

06/18/03- Since the last time I've wrote to all of you not much has changed with Roxy, she's
still very much a part of our family kinda like the big sister out of the three boxers that reside at
our home. If I'm feeling blue she knows it and will sit with me and lick me to cheer me up. Her
best friend is still my 3yr old son and she never passes up a chance to lick children and she
lights up like no tomorrow when they're around. She's had no accidents while at my house but
I do make sure she goes out frequently as she does drink a lot. She has a very protective
nature when outside, if she sees a stranger she barks as if to warn them not to come too close
but if the person is welcomed by me she settles down nicely. She has to be reminded before
we walk out the door for a walk to do easy as she gets very excited to be out and tends to
pull, I think a gentle leader would do wonders for her. It's been a true pleasure to have Roxy
stay with us as she's the perfect Lady, what else can you ask for in a best friend?

5/12/03- Hi everyone, Roxy's still doing great here & I'd like to take a moment to speak for
Roxy & tell all of you what she might like in a forever family. She'd definitely like a playmate to
have around when all the humans are at school or work, maybe if it's not too much to ask a
family who wouldn't necessarily care about her lounging on the couch or sharing a bed with
them at times as she is a cuddler & likes to be close at times. She absolutely LOVES kids,
those are her favorite, she lights up like no tomorrow & gives all the kisses she can. Roxy will
definitely flourish in an environment like this because she tries very hard to please & she is very
much a "family member" & I think she would feel very left out if she wasn't given these
opportunities to bond with her family.  She was very heartbroken over coming back into
rescue & I've been very attentive to her needs & feel that she would thrive in a situation that
she felt like a true member.

5/08/03- Not much has changed since the last update, Roxy is still a pleasure to have & is
doing very well here. When Roxy was surrendered from her owner I was told she had
stomach problems but I have her on Nutro along with all the other dogs & she's done
wonderful, no bowel problems here, she's gaining weight & seems to love it. I work on her
pulling issue daily & if before we go out the door I tell her easy, she really seems to listen &
won't pull as much. She does have a thing for strange men, meaning if a strange man who she
doesn't know approaches us outside she will bark at them to give them a warning but if she's in
the house & a man who she doesn't know comes in the house she'll do fine, she may be shy at
first but does warm up rather quickly. I can definitely say she's a mama's girl as she's under my
feet at all times.

5/05/03- Roxy has been returned to rescue as she just wasn't fitting in with her last home &
Roxy knew it wasn't right too. Roxy has fallen right back into routine here like she has never
left, she's been wonderful with both male Boxers that are here & no problems whatsoever.
She goes to the bathroom outside with no issues & we're all glad here to have her back &
praying that her next adoption is the "real one" as she is all to deserving of a very special home.

03/29/03- Roxy has been adopted

03/18/03- Roxy is pending adoption

03/10/03-Hi everyone sorry for the delay on pretty lady Roxy. My house has been jumping
lately. Well I have lots of good things to say about Roxy. In the beginning of her stay she was
very leary about everyone besides my young son who she adores but she was very scared of
everything, she has come along way since she's gotten here. She didn't eat a few days but
adding some yogurt to her food did the trick and she's been eating great now. Roxy has really
come out of her shell and is a very sweet girl, she likes to have someone pet her gently on her
head and she'll follow me from room to room, she doesn't insist on having attention but she
does like it. She's does very well crated and hasn't had any accidents, she drinks a lot of water
so I make sure I walk her a lot so she won't have an accident. She's done just fine with my
dominant male Boxer Rocco and I did have a dominant female foster who just left as well and
Roxy had no issues what so ever. My household is a busy one and this weekend I had lots of
guests and I first thought I would have to crate Roxy because I think she was used to a slower
paced household but I figured I'd leave her out of the crate to see how she did and to my
surprise she did very well. She made a lot of new friends this weekend and they all
complimented on what a good girl she was, my step-mother tried to steal her but my father
wouldn't hear of it, too many animals already. Anyways I'm sorry I made all of you wait for so
long but I'm glad I have such a good update on pretty Roxy and how well she's come along.

3-3-03- Roxy is a fawn female with a strip of white in between her eyes and 4 white paws.
She is an owner surrender due to a change in work schedule. Roxy is already spayed and
UTD and was taken care of very well by her family, she's been excellent in the crate and you
won't hear one peep from her while she's in there. She's just starting to warm up to us as she's
considerably confused about her change in lifestyles, her favorite person in the household is my
3 yr old son and her owner stressed how much she loves kids. I was also told she does not
like cats at all so she must go to a home that is kitty free (sorry kitty cats). Roxy likes to pull on
the leash a little and I believe a gentle leader would benefit her greatly. Well more to come as
we get to know pretty Roxy a little better

3/1/03 - Roxy has arrived thanks to Selena for meeting her owner in NJ. Roxy is a 5 year old
fawn female with natural ears-she was born 9/1/97. She was turned over to our rescue by her
owners because they felt they did not have enough time to devote to Roxy anymore & they
wanted her to have the best. Please watch for pictures & updates soon from her foster home.
