UPDATE 7/9/08 - I just wanted to let everyone know that our beloved Roxxy went to the Bridge
tonight.  Roxxy had a malignant tumor removed from her thigh about a year ago and about five
months ago, she had a mast cell tumor removed from her lip.  She soon after got a tumor in her
neck.  Because of the location of it, the vet said it could not be removed.  The tumor grew pretty
quickly and became the size of a softball.  As you can imagine, it was not comfortable for Roxxy to
have a growth of this size in her neck.
The decision to put her down was not a decision that my husband and I made easily.  Roxxy
became very picky about what she would eat and as of late could only eat soft foods.  In addition,
she started drinking huge quantities of water and throwing up several times a day as well as going
to the bathroom on the floor – certainly not Roxxy’s normal behavior.  What was most
unlike her was that she started distancing herself from us.  Our Roxxy, who would always be by
our side, on the couch with us, in bed with us, would now be found just laying by herself on the
floor very lethargic.
We adopted Roxxy in July of 2003 at the age of four and we had five wonderful years with her
that we will never forget.  She was a loyal and loving friend to the four of us.  She gave so much to
our family and asked for nothing in return.  She will be forever in our hearts.
Thanks to SCBR, especially Jackie and Dan, for connecting us with Roxxy and for the support
over the past five years.

UPDATE 7/17/05 - This is Roxxy Violet's two year update. Roxxy is now 6 years old. I can't
believe that it has been 2 years that we have had her. The time has really flown by. She remains a
beloved member of the family and we love her more and more each day. We still walk Roxxy
twice a day - sometimes we walk her along a local canal or in the state forest. She has to stop and
smell everything. She still loves to play ball in the yard and will sometimes bring a soccer ball in the
house with her by carrying it in with her teeth. Her favorite toy is a green stick made out of the
same material as a tennis ball. We throw the stick for her in the house and she chases it.
Sometimes she won't let go. She doesn't seem to understand that if she lets go of it, we will throw
it again so it ends up being a tug of war. Roxxy still does not like a lot of other dogs, especially
small ones. She still wants to chase squirrels and chipmunks but not as oftern. She is always
walked with a gentle leader. The summer has been great for her because someone is almost always
home with her and she loves that. She is such as people dog. When Roxxy is home, she spends
most of her time on the window seat in our bedroom, watching the world go by. I leave on music
for her - she has expanded her taste to include all kinds of music. In fact, she hasn't complained
once that she doesn't like the music I have put on for her! It's funny when we look at her from
outside the house. You can see her little face in the window with one paw on the window sill.
When we come into the house, her little stump of a tail never stops wagging. It goes a mile a
minute. Roxxy still jumps on people when they come to the house. It is not that she is mean, she is
just so excited to see them. She thinks they are coming to see her! After she gets used to them,
jumping, kissing, licking, she settles down but it is a little hectic when unexpected or expected
guests come - especially those who don't like dogs. I wish I could get her to stop this because in all
honesty, it prevents me from even wanting to have company over to the house. Roxxy's health has
been excellent. She could stand to lose a few pounds but she is getting her exercise twice a day
and is eating weight control dog food so we are doing what we can. Well, that's it for now. The
past year has been great with Roxxy and we look forward to many more years with her as part of
our family.

UPDATE 7/1/04 - This is Roxxy Violet's (we gave her the middle name!) one year update,
Roxxy is now 5 years old.  I can't believe that it has been a year that we have had her.  The time
has really flown by.  She has definitely become a beloved member of the family.  We just adore
her.  We celebrated her birthday by going to The Dogfather Bakery and bringing her back a piece
of doggie birthday cake along with other homemade doggie treats.  She reall enjoyed them.

We walk Roxxy twice a day and play ball with her in the back yard whenever we can.  She really
enjoys chasing a soccer ball.  When she gets it, she can put it in her mouth and run around the yard
with it.  It is the funniest thing to watch.  Sometimes we take her to a field in town and let her run
around there.

Roxxy still does not like a lot of other dogs, especially small ones.  In fact, I often change my
walking route so that we don't encounter a small dog that we often see.  She always wants to
chase squirrels and chipmunks but I don't let her.  She is always walked with a gentle leader.  It
doesn't keep her from pulling but it keeps her from pulling me!  I can be more in control of her with
the gentle leader.

When Roxxy is home, she spends most of her time on the window seat in our bedroom, watching
the world go by.  I leave on her favorite music (new age) and she is just so content.  It's funny
when we look at her from outside the house.  You can see her little face in the window with one
paw on the window sill.  It is the cutest thing!

Roxxy still jumps on people when they come to the house.  It is not that she is mean, she is just so
excited to see them.  She thinks they are coming to see her!  After she gets used to them, she
settles down but it is a little hectic when unexpected or expected guests come.

Roxxy is so gentle with people, it's amazing.  Whenever we give her a treat, she is so careful taking
it out of our fingers.  Never a nip or even a scrape.  She is sooooo gentle.

Roxxy's health has been excellent in fact, she just came back from the vet today.  She is up to date
on every thing and doesn't have to be seen again until December.

Well, that's it for now.  The past year has been great with Roxxy and we look forward to many
more years with her as part of our family.

5/14/03 Roxxy is really doing well at her foster home. She loves playing with all her foster brothers
and sisters and really enjoys being outside. She likes to find a little piece of sunshine and will lay
out there and just watch everything that is going on. Yesterday, I was working in the yard outside
of our fenced in area and she just sat there and cried and cried because she couldn't get to me. She
was just so sad that she needed to be near me. Roxxy loves people, children and teenagers. I
finally went and put her on a leash so that she could be near me and was happy just to lay in the
grass knowing that she could get to me if needed. She is really a sweetheart. After I got done with
my work, I took her down to the lake. This is one of her most favorite things. She loves the water,
retrieves sticks and is a great swi! mmer. She could give any labrador retriever a run for his money.
Roxxy is just a great dog and has learned many things at her foster home. She is patient, loving and
is doing well with the off command. She is sure that anyone coming into the house is coming to see
her and she is greatly improved in this area. You have to keep reminding her of off. Roxxy eats
great and we have no issues with food. She isn't showing that dominant behavior that we saw when
she first came to us. There are just too many dogs here for her to be dominant. Roxxy needs a
family that will love her, guide her to proper behavior and make her a big part of their life. She will
greatly benefit from obedience where her new family and her will grow as a team. We all love
Roxxy here and she has been here so long that she is really settled in. I keep telling her that her
new family is out there and will find her soon. She will be totally commited to her new family and
she will never let you down ! if you give her that second chance.

04/15/03-Roxxy is doing just great at her foster home. She is getting very attached here and we
are hoping that she will find her new forever home soon. She is just a great girl and gets happier
everyday. All her little bite wounds are all healed. She is beautiful and is as dedicated as they
come. She is so cute when she plays as she does alot of bowing and also makes just a ton of noise
and is very vocal. She cries when she wants to go out and has had no accidents in the house. She
is uncrated during the day and is out with a few of her foster brothers and she is just great. She is
always in the sliding glass window waiting for us to come home. Roxxy gives lots of kisses and she
gets me to laughing because she will lick my neck and it tickles. We have been walking her down
to the lake on a leash doing some training and she will walk right in the water and the water is still
very cold. I think she might even be a swimmer. Her foster dad keeps saying that we have to keep
her because only one of our dogs, Mickey is a swimmer and you should only swim with a friend
for safety. I tell him I will buy him a life jacket. This sweet girl deserves a family of her own. She
deserves to be spoiled and I really want that for her. She is a great companion and will not let you
down.

04/06/03-Roxxy has had another great week at her foster home. She has made herself at home
and has become one of the gang. She is alway ready to play and loves to mess around with a ball.
We laugh at her because we can tell who has been in the toy basket as she empties the whole
basket to get one thing out. She has been a really good girl and all she wants to do is please you.
We are working on her manners as she loves people so much that she wants to give them the
biggest welcome with lots of big kisses. We are leaving her out of her crate during the day and
have had no issues with her. She is very well behaved and has no accidents in the house. Roxxy
has been getting along with her foster brothers and sister very well. She has actually gotten very
close to them. She is playing alot and always makes alot of noise but it is just play. She continues
to play rough sometimes but we are working on not playing so hard. She had a wonderful time this
morning outside by running and playing with all her foster brothers and sister. She can run like the
wind. Roxxy loves to snuggle on the couch and is a great foot warmer. She is eating well and is in
general public while eating. Roxxy does have some seasonal hair lose on her back and sides and
you can see her skin but everyone tells me that this is normal and she will soon have her summer
coat. Roxxy is a real love and I hope she finds her new home soon. We sure are enjoying her. She
really is ready to find her new forever home. She won't let you down. She will be a great addition
to any family.

03/24/03-Hi, this is Roxxy. I am having a great time at my foster home and have adjusted to daily
life here. I am getting very attached to my foster parents and all my foster brothers and sister. I am
getting along great with all of them but I do play rough. Some of them like to play with me and
there are others that think I have way too much energy. I am not caged anymore during the day
and I am a good girl-that's what they tell me all the time. I am working on my greeting skills as I
think that everyone that comes through the door is only coming to see me. It's alot of work for me
to obey the rules here but I have made alot of progress. I absolutely just love people. I met a little
girl over the weekend and just wanted to give her lots of kisses, and I met my foster grandma and
also had to give her a couple quick kisses before my foster mom said that is not proper behavior.
She tells me to act my age and like a lady. I am working so hard to be a better pet and I know alot
of commands. I really am hoping that a family will want to adopt me soon. I promise you that I will
be very dedicated to my new family and I would be so happy to belong again. I like it here but it is
time for me to think about getting settled into my new life. I will make you happy and I will be
excited to meet you. I just need a family that will make me a part of their life and have some
patience. I want to please you and you won't be disappointed.

03-17-03-Roxxy continues to delight us here at her foster home. She is really doing well. She is
eating kibbled food with a little warm water twice a day. She is doing very well on it and loves to
get treats that we make her work for. She is still getting along with all her foster brothers and sister.
Roxxy is a very vocal boxer and she will talk and cry when she wants something for example if she
has to go outside. We call her a cry baby but she is very cute when she does this. This girl can play
with the big guys. She gets going and again is very vocal. She plays rough and seems to have a
never ending amount of energy. I keep reminding her that she is 4 yrs old and she should act her
age. She is a love with people and gives a great big welcome which we are working on proper
behavior upon greeting someone new. She is sure they are coming to see her. She met some
teenagers over the week along with a neighbor boy who is 9 and she loved all of them. Right now
she is snuggling with her foster dad and one of her foster brothers on the loveseat, so they are
doing some heavy bonding. Roxxy does pull on a leash and we are working on her skills. Roxxy
will greatly benefit from obedience training. She knows alot already but needs to fine tune her
skills. It will be a wonderful growing experience for her new owners and herself. She really wants
to please and is more than happy to work on it. She is playing with lots of toys and loves any kind
of balls. She still has her favorite soccer ball but recently took a liking to a football. She is just an
all around good sport. Roxxy needs to be a big part of a family. She loves attention and she is
happiest when she is a major part of someones life. I don't think she could ever get enough. Roxxy
is ready for her new home and if you want a really goo! d friend, you had better fill out an
application. She is going to find her family soon.

03/09/03-:Roxxy has been here a little over a week now and she continues to do very well. She is
still eating her two meals a day with dinner being her favorite. She has showed us how much she
likes to play with a soccer ball. We have had one in our toy box since Christmas and no one
seemed to want it for their toy but Roxxy has taken care of that. Of course, she had to deflate it
first but now it is a game that she will play for hours. She loves to have your throw it and she gets it
as fast as she can. She is getting along with her foster brothers and sister just great. We have had
no problems with her at all. Many times this weekend, I have seen her sleeping with one of the
other dogs on the couch or loveseat. While we were eating tonight, she used Max as a pillow. It
was too cute. She does play rough and she has learned! that for an all out good time of playing,
you hang around Max. She does alot of boxer talking and growling when she is playing. She does
bark when there is activity outside the house but quickly quiets down when spoken to. Roxxy is
completely housebroken and has not had any accidents in the house. She will talk and cry when
she has to go out. Roxxy's body is healing nicely from all the cuts and bite wounds that she had.
She has alot of scars but she is still beautiful and is a very proud boxer girl. Her first love is people
and she has met alot of new people this week and loves everyone she meets. She really likes when
you talk to her and she thrives on attention. Roxxy needs a family that will make her a big part of
their life. She loves to feel special and if you have the time to allow her into your life, she will never
let you down. You will have a wonderful friend that will show you what a boxer is all about. She is
just a great dog.

3/4/03-Roxxy has had another great day. She has begun to play with some toys and she goes
crazy over them.We have many toys that are outside as we have a few dogs that take them out
there when you first come home and then drop them.So most are frozen to the snow and she goes
out and digs them out and brings them back in.She is a good girl. She is playing more now with a
few of the dogs and is a real tom boy at playing. She is very vocal and does alot of growling but it
is play as her tail never stops. She does have some dominance issues for example when I came
home tonight, she wanted to get to me but one of the other dogs beat her to it and she mounted him
as to say she is mine. We gave her a correction and she quickly moved on to another thought. She
also will pick on our Tyson who we believe is the low man on the pole. He gets mad at her
because he doesn't like fooling around but again we give her a correction and she is over it. She
would love to be the only dog in the house and I know that she would be the happiest then. She
absolutely loves humans and if they made her a huge part of their life, she would be as dedicated as
she could be.It's a very hard call. She interacts with our dogs alot and most of the time she just
goes with the flow and seems to enjoy their company.Roxxy is funny, she will cry when she sees
someone outside and gets very excited even if they are going to the neighbors. She is sure they are
coming to see her.She is such a happy girl and I know that the right family is waiting to adopt her.
She is so deserving of her own family. She really wants to please you.

3/3/03 - Roxxy has had another great day at her foster home. Today was a work day so she was
crated all day and she did wonderful. She went in with a little coaxing with a peanut butter filled
marrow bone. Her foster Dad arrived home first and she was glad to see him. She is just full of
love for people. She has remained so relaxed during the first days of getting use to her foster home.
We are really proud of her. We let her sleep in our bedroom last night and she was on her bed all
night like a good girl. She got up early with her foster Dad and then decided that she would come
up with me for a little bit of snuggling time. She is so sweet. She continues to do well with her
foster brothers and sister. We have not had any problems with her with food issues or dominance
but it is all so new for her. She is eating 2 meals a day and she cleans her bowl up everytime. She
is very patient when she is offered a treat and I am making her do one of the commands that she
knows. She is very smart and more than happy to show her "stuff". Roxxy is a great boxer and if
you are looking for companionship and a good friend, she is the girl for you. Don't wait too long to
fill out an application, she won't be in rescue very long.

3/2/03 - Roxxy has settled into her foster home very nicely. She is really doing great. She is eating
well and has started finishing her bowl. She is now in general public with her foster brothers and
sister and seems to be adjusting and working at making friends with all of them. She has tried to
play a couple of times today and it is coming. We are trying to keep it low key to give her the time
she needs to feel comfortable. She slept in her crate last night and cried for a little bit but did settle
down quickly. She was actually very tired from her big day yesterday. She was ready to get out of
there this morning. Roxxy likes the many dog beds that we have for them. Roxxy has been a love
to us and she cries when she can't get to us. Roxxy loves to be under the kitchen table when we
are in the kitchen. She is a great foot warmer. We are really pleased that she is doing so well with
so many dogs here. We are making her work for things that she wants in hopes that she will leave
her past fighting behind her. So far, it has been nothing but positive. She gives great big kisses and
she is just a happy little girl. She will be a wonderful addition to any family. We may be partial but
we both feel she is cutest boxer around.

03/02/03 - All of us at the Boxer'In welcome our newest guest, Roxxy. Roxxy is a 4 yr. old fawn
female with 4 white paws, natural ears and docked tail. She is spayed and up to date on her
vaccinations. Roxxy was returned to rescue after 1-1/2 yrs as she has been fighting with another
male boxer in the household. Roxxy and her foster parents would like to thank Liddy and Alan
who adopted Jake today for giving her a ride to upstate New York. She will always be thankful
for their kindness and she wishes them good luck with their new puppy. She thinks Jake is one
lucky puppy. Roxxy is just a great girl. She loves people and gives lots of kisses and has remained
calm through her journey back into rescue today. She loves attention, right now she is bonding with
her foster dad on the floor. Her little tail hasn't stopped wiggling. She ate a pretty good supper for
the first night with no issues. Roxxy has many scars on her face, neck, ears and body on account of
her fighting with this other dog. It looks like she wasn't very good at it and she will have these scars
the rest of her life but through it all, she has a great boxer spirit and lots of love to give. She has
met a few of her foster brothers and sister and we are watching her closely. She has even played
for a few minutes with her foster sister, Snowie. Snowie is very submissive but Roxxy handled it
well even though she uses her front paws roughly (like most boxers do). Roxxy has been though
beginner obedience and knows her basic commands. We are happy to be able to help Roxxy get
to her new home. I think she is going to make some family very happy. She has lots of love to give.
