9/21/03 Rodney Here, I thought that you all should have the chance to hear from me as
my MOM seems to be very busy this week. Now I am a right up front kinda feller and so
I will be as honest as I can be about my personality and habits. Good or Bad!
I am pretty handsome. I have what my Mom calls a beautiful Brindle coat with very little
shedding. My face is mostly black and my tippy toes are white. Best of all I have a TAIL!
Mom says that it looks like a Greyhounds tail. Thin and it hardly causes any problems!Did
I mention that I am very handsome. People on our walks ask my Mom what kind of dog I
am and they say that I am very handsome. So see it is not just me who says so! I have
natural ears which are as soft as velvet.
I get along with my foster brother much better now that we know each other. I just love to
play and here comes one of those truth things that I promised you, I do tend to play alittle
hard.........no growling I just don't know when to stop. My foster brother keeps coming
back for more so I couldn't be that bad. My Mom says that I should have a fenced in
yard so that I can wear off some of my energy. She ties me out and plays with me with
toys, I really like that but a little more wide open space would be great. I do my business
outside like I am supposed to. I don't sniff around trying to find just the right place I just
go so that I have more time to play.
My Mom keeps mentioning obedience school, what ever that is. She says that I would do
so well with alittle more training. Here comes another thing that I have to be honest about.
I have taken with my foster brother to playing tug of war with toys and some other things
that are not necessarily toys. My Mom yells "no" and we stop but before the day is out I
usually find something else to make Mom yell "no" again. I really, really try but it is that
energy thing again. I also am so happy to see people that I try to jump on them but they
turn away from me and it is not as much fun anymore......although I try not to miss an
opportunity to do it. I really like my food and am a neat eater....unusual for a boxer I am
told! For my walks my Mom uses a "gentle leader" and I don't want to pull very much so
it is not too hard to walk me.
Well, I sure would like to have a permanent home soon so that I can run and play with
you and you can run and play with me. My Mom has finished reading the directions for
the digital camera so my picture should be on this week.
Please think about adopting me, I know that I can fill your heart with love for me as I
know that I can fill my heart with love and devotion for you and yours.
Talk soon...............

9/7/03  Rodney has been here about one week. I attended the Bash in Buffalo last
weekend and brought home this handsome gentleman home with me. Rodney has the
most beautiful Brindle coat, black face, white toes, white blaze, natural ears and a TAIL!
This fellow has had a ball since he has been here. Sometimes it has been a marvel to
watch and other times it has been mind boggling! Having not owned 2 dogs at the same
time in quite a long time I certainly had forgotten how much energy 2 Boxers can have!
. He is very handsome. Tall, slender and quick. Do you like to jog? Stop reading now and
fill out the adoption application! He is your guy! If walked with a gentle leader he does
very well. He has boundless energy all day but does sleep about 12 hours every night!
For the first several nights he slept in his crate. Not crazy about going in but a little treat
does the trick. He is crated when I have had to leave the house several times. He barks
and does appear that he is trying to nudge the door open. Well, after several nights of
being crated I let him sleep with me and my other boxer. Unlike my boxer who does not
cuddle up when sleeping with me Rodney loves to cuddle right up to me. What a Guy!
He loves to chew doggie bones and there is not a stuffed animal that is safe from him! He
can be somewhat stubborn and is very strong. He always seems to be happy and will
door bust in a heartbeat. I do not have a fenced in yard right now and so he is tied out on
a coated wire and I stay out with him. He does his business quickly and then waits for you
to play with him. I have gates on both of my decks and they act as a secondary barrier
incase I loose the race at the door.
I would not consider him the ideal dog for children under 7 as he is tall and does not know
his own strength. He seems to get along with the other boxer in the house after a few
vocal outbursts by both of them. He plays hard when playing with other dogs and does
not know when it is time to stop.
He eats well and does not seem to have any issues with food allergies or the like.
If you have been considering an adoption and are willing to see to his training with
obedience sessions please give this guy a second chance at having his forever home.
