UPDATE 10/20/04 - I can't believe we have had Rocky for a year already. He's
doing great although our Siamese Cat wishes he would go back to wherever he came
from. Rocky on the other hand would love to just be able to get his nose in her fur for
a nice long sniff. He loves our hampsters and has a great time outside chasing frogs
and grasshoppers. He made it through the move and loves Texas, he has about 1/2
acre of fenced yard to play in but he refuses to get in the swimming pool. He
definately has the run of the house. I'm not sure of his protective instinct, the way he's
afraid of things I think he depends more on us for his own protection. Rocky keeps
me company while the kids are in school. He LOVES the car so as the weather will
be turning cooler soon he will once again be able to help me with my daily errands.
He also loves walks and yesterday he met our neighbor's two horses--through the
fence they just sniffed each other as much as possible. Rocky didn't want to leave
when it was time to go. He sleeps with Michael, our oldest son and definately likes
having a set routine and bedtime. However, if I go out at night for some reason,
Rocky will NOT go to bed until I come home. We no longer use the crate unless he
goes in by himself. He prefers to lay in one of the big comfy chairs while we are out
so he can look out the window and see us come home. His newest thing happens on
the weekends. As my husband gets out of bed early for work Mon-Fri. Rocky
makes himself at home with me in our bed after he leaves for work. On weekends
when my husband tries to sleep in Rocky has taken to whining and barking until my
husband gets out of the bed. Once he's out, Rocky is in. He just wants 'his' space. I
find it very funnny that Rocky kicks my husband out of the bed! Mark, however,
fails to see the humor........
10/17/03 The Pup Tent and the Supremes are very glad to welcome our newest
guest, Rocky. Rocky's circumstances into rescue are extremely sad, his human was
out playing golf just 3 weeks ago and today is in the final stages of terminal cancer.
Rocky has been in a few different homes in the last few weeks and has finally ended
up here at the Pup Tent thanks to a very good friend who knew our family is involved
with Second Chance. On to the details! Rocky turned 1 last week. He is fawn with
a black mask, docked tail, natural ears and a very long tongue! He is a typical 1 yr
old, so far, he just runs and runs around the backyard and is tiring out Sunkiss,
(which is hard to do)! He is up to date on his shots but will be seeing the boxer doxer
for a little nip and tuck if you know what I mean! He is supposed to be crate trained,
housebroke, we will evaluate those things in the days to come. So far, there have
been no problems with the other dogs here and he is a typical goofy 1 year old!
Don't wait too long on this guy, he won't be around in rescue very long!
